[Q] Can not download update - Droid RAZR M Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I checked to see if there was an update thru Mdm and did not apply the update,
was going to download later. When I went back later to do the upgrade it kept
telling me a "download is in progress".
I've rebooted both the pc and the phone, checked and unchecked USB debugging.
Any suggestions to fix this?

Market not working - how do I remove downloaded OTA update?

I have a problem. I can not get Market to work, even with the market enabler and the latest market mod from the NotionInkHacks forum. I had it working first, then did the OTA and it was still working. But then I did a full factory reset to clear out my Adam (something I always do after a few days with new units, so I can remove the traces of experimenting. And now I can't get Market working again! I have done the unbricking update with the recovery image dated the 24. of Jan, and I'm pretty sure that will fix it. The problem is that I can't seem to get rid of the OTA update that's on the unit. I have tried to hard reset it with both the reset in Settings and the one in the flash menu (power on + vol up), and still it's there installing itself. And I can't find it with Sniffer or Root Explorer! Any idea how I can remove this thing, so I can get back the Market access?
I also deleted the recovery.zip on the "internal SD card", and still I get "Your Adam is up to date" when I try to check if I'm back to an earlier image, and I have the same problem with Market. Driving me up the wall here! According to my About Adam the build number is NIP20230111.
I finally solved that. I downloaded the 5. of Feb update, and now I can update to the latest. Still market doesn't work, though. Any help on that would be appreciated! Driving me totally crazy...

Did you try force closing market and clearing data?
Sorry, should have posted that I finally got it. I went to Edenx and tried 3-4 full resets with that, and suddenly it worked. I have no idea how and why, but it's there now. It' very slow, but it's there. My son's Nook Color pops into market and makes searches in seconds, this takes at least half a minute. But I can deal with that. I've got Titanium Backup now, so I won't have to download anything more from the market if I don't need new apps.

Android Market Error on every application

Im experiencing an error on every application I try to install or update. Error reads "Download was unsuccessful, please try again"
I'm hoping the store is down and everyone is having this problem...if its just me any suggestions. Its been doing this for a couple hours so I flashed to 1.26, updated to 1.57 and than updated to 1.83.
I know I'm rooted as I can use Root Explorer.

I tried this too, but didn't work either..

I had that happen on my dell venue. The fix is trivial.
Plug your phone into your usb cable, and set it to mass storage
then install. It will work fine.
It fixes itself eventually (in my case), the usb is fine for the interim

Well thanks for suggestion..didn't work for me either. This is crazy as this is a fresh install...I just flashed and updated...
Just a heads up...I was panicking because this lasted for about 6 hours and than all of the sudden just as I was going to go to sleep, it started working again. I believe it was something on the server side, nothing I did....needless to say I stayed up late to get as many of the apps I needed as I was worried about when my luck might run out...
I flash to 1.5.7 and update to 1.8.3 yesterday, then I open Market, it said like that 'there's a error, please try later'. I just reboot my atrix, and open WIFI, try Market, it's ok now.
PS: the apps downloaded from MarKet is here: /cache/download**.apk

[Q] Cancel download of OTA GB update?

Is there any way to cancel the download of the OTA Gingerbread update?
I'm on 2.3.340.MB10, Baseband BP_C_01.09.07P, rooted, stock ROM. I manually triggered the update check earlier (About phone→System updates). I got the update notice and selected “Later” (I want to wait until it's clear that I can keep or regain root).
Maybe an hour later, I noticed a download icon. The notification says Downloading updates and is currently at 18%. I went into Airplane mode to stall it. I tried rebooting and turning Airplane mode on and off, but the best I can do is stall the download and I can't stay in Airplane mode forever. (WiFi has been off the whole time.)
When I go back to System updates, I get “An update is currently downloaded. You will be notified when the download is complete.”
Can somebody please provide me one of the following:
1. How to cancel the download
2. How to indefinitely not install after allowing the download to complete
3. How to upgrade and keep or regain root
Thanks!
P.S.: Does anyone know why the download started when I picked the Remind me later option?
not sure about the first two questions, but as for the 3rd one, P3droid posted rooted OTA build with instructions in DX section of his forum. I don't think links are allowed, but shouldn't be too hard to find.
Oh and yeah, downloading the update automatically after it's found is default behavior for DX.
Can't cancel, but after download it will ask you if you want to install now or later. Choosing later is your only option, unfortunately you will be reminded every four hours if you want to install or not
Sent from my DROIDX using XDA App

Thanks, all!
Thanks, folks who posted.
tech_head's tip indeed froze the download, since I rarely connect to WiFi. (Why updates are “Social Applications,” I don't know.) (Interestingly, I had the hardest time actually getting into this menu. Took about 10 tries.)
metamorphousthe's tip saved me from being paranoid about the download completing.
meshdub's tip I haven't checked into yet, but that's promising.
Thanks again!
Just delete a system app and the update will fail when it tries to install and then you're all set
I renamed the blurupdater.apk to .bak I think that stops updates.

[Q] [HELP] Unfortunately, Direct pen input has stopped

Hello Guys,
At first i just flashed a N900 Pre-Root Deodex file using Odin, but after reboot a window popped out displaying," Unfortunately, Direct pen input has stopped." And it happened all the time as it keeps freezing my note 3 with all these windows & notice over & over again.
I really don't know how did i go wrong. So I tried to do factory reset, wipe cache & dalvik cache using CWM Recovery 6.0.3.8 but to no avail. The problems worsened as now multiple windows starts to freeze the screen with different notice such as now:
1. Unfortunately, Direct pen input has stopped
2. Unfortunately, Samsung keyboard has stopped
3. Unfortunately, Internet has stopped
4. Process system isn't responding
Do you want to close it
I checked into my download mode, it displayed CURRENT BINARY CUSTOM and SYSTEM STATUS CUSTOM ???
Please kindly advise, thanks in advance

Problem is solved by flashing Stock ROM from same Asian Region here (WAN) because my original country's Stock ROM (XSE) isn't available yet.

Hello, Can you elaborate further what exactly did you do? I got the same problem now on my Note 3
Thanks in advance!
Check logcat for crashes!
I disabled / uninstalled as many system apps that appeared in my drawer as I could. One too many it seems and Messaging would crash each time I got a text.
Re-installed the app from backup and just hid it in my app draw (ADW Launcher EX)
The remedy is simply flash your original firmware using odin, then for rooting process i just flashed using CF-Auto Root File with same method

At my point of trouble that time, it was totally chaotic as the phone kept freezing with multiple error windows, and i could neither use the keyboard nor using the phone normally at all. It was quite relieving to know that i could still reboot into download mode that time, otherwise i would be stressful in vain till now.

I ran into this issue as well, when I started carelessly turning off all the services on my GN3 to free up memory. I narrowed down the issue to the process/service called "MyScript ResourceManager." If this is disabled/removed, you will get the Direct Pen input error. Make sure you don't disable/remove this process!!
right

Not sure what you mean by this. I'm having the same issue now. I tried to root using this tutorial https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hg82AWA_lmI having no luck and failing on the first part. After that the phone wanted to be fixed via kies firmware; tried that with no success. I then tried these steps http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2525279 to recover. While in Odin, I was given a success message ONLY with the PIT. Everything else during, before and after fails. This results in me having to re-PIT every time.
So now the phone, even after a factory reset, is still showing the message
Unfortunately, Direct pen input has stopped.

Your solution is the usual error/solution for most. I just found out that if you are using xposed - xprivacy module to limit permissions that when I recently installed samsung's "Watchon" TV and its helper app Media that I recieved a popup from xposed XPrivacy to set my policy on something of a long winded name like "1000 ANT HAL Service, Android System, Application installer, Assistant menu, BluetoothTest, Camera Test, Color adjustment, DgitalPenSdK, Direct pen input, EasyOneHand, Enterprise Sim Pin Service...." and it goes on and on. Apparently it's one of those deep shared system identifiers that the new apps added themselves to so when I took my usually cautious approach to limit some of the permissions I didn't have any errors immediately but upon reboot it all began. I naturally did a search and found your solution is the most common but seeing as it wasn't a solution for myself I had to dig deeper. Anyhow, if anybody else is in my position with that particular error and it relates to xprivacy just know that you can begin releasing permissions rather than unrestricted for that mass identifier, or just use "clear" so that it is totally unchecked and the FC of Direct Pen Input will go away immediately.
Not working

Can't update to Nougat

Hi guys, i Just bought the Nexus 6p, so Nexus Noob here, I downloaded and installed all the security updates month by month and all went well until I got the 7.1.1 update
The phone download 1.2 GB then when I tapped restart and install, the countdown for install started and when it finished it just said your phone is up to date, then when I tapped check it again said there's a 1.2 GB update for Nougat and started to download it from scratch
I did this three times and even wiped cache partition in between but it was just the same
I appreciate any help
Thank you
Update: I did a factory reset and now it just says my phone is up to date, It won't even show the 7.1.1 update to install anymore.
Download the 7.1.1 OTA image from Google, then sideload it using adb from recovery.

That's great to hear. I wonder if it pulled the downloaded OTA during the reset somehow and flashed it... Either way, glad it worked!
I got a question? I am rooted, running dirty unicorns and have received the 7.1.1 update notification. Obviously I don't want to update as it'll probably brick or take root from away. How does one get rid of the ota notification?

Did you try clearing the system cache? That's generally a good idea after a major OTA.

You can also try clearing the app data for your browser and see if that helps but I would clear system cache first.
