There is no best ROM. Each ROM tends to offer something different and what you may see as useful or cool may not be anything special to somebody else. With that said, I am on the newest version of the PACman ROM and I think its the best rom available bar none. There are so many options such as PIE controls (which allows you to hide the NAV buttons allowing for more screen space) and not to mention the options of Paranoid Android, AOKP and Cynagenmod. Throw in the rock solid stability, (no force closes, battery drain or lag) and you have a real winner.
Anyway, like I said, that is my opinion but having used many ROMs I can tell you that most of them are amazing in there own right. There is no "best".

theres no best rom, theres only the rom thats best for you. spend some time trying out a few different roms, then pick one that suits your needs the best. after that, spend some time trying different kernels, then pick the one that you like. anyways, heres a great place to start, especially for a thread like this one http://goo.gl/YG5Gl

Well, this thread managed to become hostile and off-topic in a matter of minutes. Can't say that I'm not impressed though. Anyway, while you've probably figured out as much there is no best ROM because it's completely subjective and in addition being a Nexus the ROMs all seem fairly similar to me (it's odd to have come from an HD2). It's also not fair to devs to judge their work when they do it completely for free and opinions can easily differ. What I can say is that you'll struggle to find any ROM that's bad.

OP as stated, there is no best, it is what is best for the individual User, with so many variables involved...apps/usage and so on, the best thing to do is test and run the great ROMs out here.
And BTW thread cleaned of stupidity; Thank you and Thread Closed.

Best rom guidance

Ok right now I'm using the matrix rom, and is real good on my t-mobile nexus s. The thing is that I know is pretty old and I kbow there are several newer more stable roms out there but wich one ia the best of all? I'm looking for the fastest but not just that but stable if that's not available what would be the fastest and still be super steady and bug free.

Try a few! I tell EVERYONE who asks this question the same thing...
THERE IS **NO** BEST ROM (OR KERNEL)
Different phones behave differently with roms/kernels. Make a nandroid, flash something, and use it for a few days/weeks. Don't like it? Flash something else! Obviously you probably want to start with the jelly bean based roms and go from there. Look at the comments in the threads and base your opinion on what you want to try from what other people have said.
Hope that helps.
Back in the day I tried several infinity and don't remember others they were not stable as matrix is. I tried one of the first ics custom rom don't remember which ones and it was very unreliable. Was it because it was pretty new or all ics roms suck and is better to stay with gingerbread custom roms?

ICS ROMS run great... I was using CM9 up until yesterday when I switched to CM10. Very smooth and good battery even with the stock kernel (referring to CM9)
Closed, no such thing as a "Best" rom.

Getting the Nexus 7 soon...

and I haven't been really following anything with the Nexus 7 so...posting this on Q&A.
What is your favorite rom (including plain ol' stock), why, and kernel?
can I use the Gapps I am got for the S3?
also, what other apps / tweaks do you guys recommend?
I never used an Android as a tablet so it's some what of an uncharted waters for me.

So why don't you do something about that ?
My best tip is to do some reading. These same questions are always going to get the same answers ...it's all up to the user and their needs.

This. I planned on getting the Nexus 7, so I decided to keep checking in at this forum to see recent developments and stuff. By the time I got the device, I was already aware of what defects to look for, what ROM's and kernels I would try first, etc...

Seriously, Custom roms are not worth of it.. or well not yet. I've tried over 6 differents rom and came back to Stock. Stock 4.1.1 has really great performance. The only useful thing I can think of is to flash a different kernel over the stock rom to overclock.

I disagree. Paranoid Android gives you control over your layout unlike stock.

I can read, but at the same time, I created this thread to get other peoples opinion in one place rather than going all over the place. and as for above, I was looking at PA too.
Can I use Gapps (7.27 i think) I am using for the S3 or does the Nexus 7 have it's own different Gapps?

ROM Choice? Xylon, Cyanogenmod, Paranoid??

Trying to pick a ROM. They all look good. Any that you recommend? Something without too many stability problems......
A ROM is your personal preference. Other peoples word should influence you. A ROM is like buying a house. It has to feel right for you. Go and test a few. You will find the ROM for you

Not sure what the rules here are, but on the Optimus 2x forum, where I come from, threads like this one are getting closed.
I think you should try some ROMs and stick with the one that works the best for you.
So, which one do you like?

Personally I'm using cm10 but that is totally irrelevant, go have a look at ROMs and see what works for you)

It's not irrelevant!
Which/best/most stable etc ROM threads get closed because it's completely subjective and what's best for one person isn't for others. My advice to everyone wondering is to just flash the ones that meet your needs or try them all, choice is a great thing and the devs provide plenty of it.
Thanks

Android rev hd 12.0 2M views

Strange compared to any other Rom anywhere in any forum... For any HTC one This Rom, has 2 million hits... Is it that out if this world .. I just been browsing here and there and that seems to be the Rom to have ...
Looking for some Insight on just what makes this the "it"Rom'
The dev or the Rom build...
I tried it pretty good Rom... Seems plain though...I don't see where or why the 2m views holds any significance.
Anyone shed some light on this?

It was the first ROM I tried after I unlocked my One. It seems good, fast and stable. Right now I am trying out the Google Edition that was leaked recently and I really do prefer it.

It's good fast stable close to stock and Mike is always on of the first or the first to get his hands on new leaks. I can't be bothered to go to a new base but in the past I also quite enjoyed insertcoin.

Can you imagine if everyone opens a thread cause there's a million, 2, 3 million views on a thread? Come on now.
And if you wonder why, just ask about the developer of that Rom, you'll understand why.

Im not here to argue about the Rom or discredit the dev..lets get real here this isn't about a argument, is everything to be taken with offensiveness ,every single thing... I was just saying I couldn't figure out in amazement what the 2m views had to do with .... That's an awful lot for one Rom...
Geezus
Have a freakin fit close the thread

Been on this rom now for a couple of months almost. Its amazing. Quick, great battery life, the support is unreal, not only from Mike. The Updates are pretty much weekly. He does seem to get his hands on things very quickly. Would def recommend a look if you are considering romming. Its like a family.
The ARHD team have been around a very long time, and they provide as close to stock as possible ROMs which many people want. I myself personally prefer Viper ROMs cos of the customization available. You can't go wrong with many of the ROMs
Now almost 3 million views

The ARHD rom and thread are good which is why I use them but it's no point me or anyone else telling you to go ARHD because we all like different things.... that's what makes us individuals.
All the sense roms are good and all offer different things for different people.... some are close to stock and others heavily themed.
Try them all then decide which is best for you.

Will you open another thread when it reaches 4 million? I don't see the point here of opening a thread talking about the number of views of a thread

One thing to keep in mind, if the htc one gets Key lime pie, the OP of the ARHD thread will just be updated accordingly as if the thread had always been about key lime pie from the beginning.
Ie, there will never be a separate thread for a new version of ARHD no matter how different the base.
Mike1986 is a great caretaker and the project is truly stellar, don't get me wrong, but eventually the same thread will get 10 M views because the discussion will have been about twenty different ROMs along the way.
Oh and lojak it's really passive aggressive to start a silly thread and then start flaming anyone who points out the silliness.

Exactly. All op needs to do is ask within the ARHD thread itself why it is so successful instead of opening these meaningless threads.
Sent from my Stealth Black HTC One using Tapatalk 2
Actually within five minutes of me saying there will never be a separate ARHD thread no matter how different the base, Mike1986 started a separate ARHD thread just now with the Google Edition as the base.

ARHD has been a custom rom on many devices so quite a few people know about it and know it's stable. I think that's why so many people flash it first. It a "popular" rom just like CleanRom. They are both actually pretty similar in features (mostly stock based). I prefer the customization of Viper roms to be honest but you can't go wrong with pretty much any of the Sense based roms. They aren't built from the ground up from source, just tweaked, so they will all be stable.

Seeing as you have tried the ROM, I would say your opinion is as good as any. Next step would be to read the thread and see what people do/don't like, that's why the thread exists.

Best Battery ROMs

Just recently became a new owner of the Galaxy S4. I have been rooting and flashing for a few years now, and now that I am at the point of flashing my first ROM for my S4, I would like to choose one that offers some battery improvements over the stock ROM. Any suggestions?

I feel like this thread is going to get closed.... just saying. But it all depends on how the user uses the phone, mods or kernels used. But to answer your question, ive heard sacs rom is pretty good with battery and it also a customizable rom.

Yeah this thread needs to be closed.
Flash different roms and kernels and see which one gives you the best battery life. Done.

Because getting out the most of a battery depends on the user usage. Also kernel, apps, mods, etc etc and also every phone is different so you wont get the same results.

Sorry, see all of the above to understand the reasons why "Best" rom threads get shut.
"Best" is in the eye of the beholder, and based on a variety of users needs or desires.
