Hello there.
My phone has a bit of a problem with battery drains.
I have a MB525 with CM10, 17/02 build.
The issue:
It's about the frickin battery drops. It drains too fast and then it drops from 80 percent to a whalloping 50 percent, and then from 48 percent to 15 percent. And then to 4 percent. Not to mention the phone's temperature rises ridiculously when I use 3G.
I have already tried:
- undervolting the battery (no significative results)
- letting it drain completely and then charging again (did not work, battery still drains)
- clearing battery stats (no effect)
While charging, the battery jumps from 50% to 100% fully charged.
I am seriously considering buying a new battery, but I'm afraid it's an issue with the ROM rather than the battery itself.
Any other ideas are welcome. I need to solve this issue ASAP.
Thanks in advance.

Yeah, I was almost certain of that but I was reluctant to buy a new battery and face the same issue.
Just like you, replacing the battery solved the issue. But I still experience battery drains. Must say it's A LOT better now though.
Any tips on tweaking my software to consume less energy (vsel, etc etc) are appreciated.
Thanks!
i've got the same problem with drops/jumps when both discharging and charging....... bought a new battery and still have the same problem so not sure what it is. I bought it from what seemed like a reputable amazon marketplace dealer, so hope it wasnt fake

As of right now I'm just rooted with the update.zip, I did lag fix but unlag fixed shortly after. Didn't have this problem when I was stock battery actually listed a good amount time.
There are bugs with the displayed battery % not being accurate. Especially if you power down the phone while it's charging.
My Vibrant just eats battery by the minute... I am honestly not sure what is going on. IT's 2.30pm and I barely used the phone and it's down to 53% now from 9am.
What can I do to fix this? I have rooted and installed lag fix from this link

Yea compared to my last two smartphones, the vibrant battery life is no worse. It's definitely better than the n900. But no smart phone's battery life has compared to my blackberry's I used to use.

Fix permissions via recovery! Drain your battery till power down and recharge it fully while off if possible.

I had this issue. Turns out my battery had swollen due to over heating. Excessive use while on the charger. In the end, it would take 7 hours to charge 80%. Hence why it was on the charger.
Doesn't sound like you have the same issue. But of you start experiencing charging issue coupled with rapid draining get the barry replaced. No issues anymore.

Most of the time you read responses about sucking battery life after flashing a rom or kernel. Battery life seems to drop dramaticly.
There are a lot of discussions about callibration methods, and believe me, I tried them all. But I got suspicious when I found no differences in the results. The thing I did discover was that after a couple of days the battery usage will become more stable. No matter what callibration method is used.
The only thing that seems to work is to charge your battery to full, after a flash. nothing more.
I had battery life issues that wouldn't go away, so I just installed that some battery life app. Somehow that helped so much

+1 Doing a reboot then a full charge with display off always chills any battery overheating I've had.
Deleting stats will improve calibration so that the Note doesn't discharge for two hours and show 100% , then discharge another two hours and drop to 80%. Instead calibrating will show 90% after two hours then 80% after another two. The net result of battery use is still the same, only the metering is a little more accurate.

With regards to calibration, the Galaxy Note has the same MAX17042 fuel-gauge chip as in the Galaxy S2.
Entropy512 posted about how this chip functions on the Galaxy S2, and how different it is to the HTC devices which have a different way of measuring charge that does need calibrating now and then.
From what I understand, although the MAX17042 chip can 'glitch' readings sometimes, it tends to 'self-calibrate' over time:

Just a few days ago my battery on my phone drained to 0 then charged it while turned off. But something suddenly came up and I need to go immediately and plugged the charger out before it was full. After that, my battery can barely last 1 day but normally my phone lasts up to 3 days without wifi and I already have Juice Defender and I actually upgraded it into Ultimate. Another thing that I noticed is that the temperature is becoming hotter than it used to be. Possibly because it's hot here. And no, it doesn't have any bumps.
So, what can I do about this? Do I have to buy a new battery or does anyone have an alternative?

Did your battery heat up like mine as well? Charging temperature is 42-43C. While Normal use is 35-39C and when playing some games it reaches to 40-42C.
Can this even be fixed by Battery Calibration? Just rooted my phone today.
And I am also eying the possibility that my charger is the culprit since it's becoming hot too especially the AC and the tip that you use to connect to your phone. Now I'm waiting for my aunt to borrow her charger and find out if it really is the one at fault.
And another thing that confuses me is my battery's health is still good. And the main drainer is "Cell Standby" and "Phone Idle".

I dont think so that battery has any probs coz before calibration on that particular ROM I was getting exact flow from 100% to 0%.....so after that calibration m getting that drops so Do I make a clean install or remove the battery profile.....how to remove that battery profile n make a new one?...
Ok, instead of reading around to fix your problem you made a new thread about the same thing.
There is a thread "battery drops explained", just a little down this very page that explains it all. If your battery is >1,5 old, it's getting worn.
Li-Io batterys have a lifetime (end of life is when it only has 80% of it's capacity left) of 500-700 charges. Nowadays people charge their phones at least every two days. Do the math. You'll see some more batterydrops at 20% and 70% (I think), the sum of these drops is how much juice your battery has lost permanently.

I've just flashed PA latest build (dirty) and my battery stats are pretty messed up, apparently Bluetooth was the biggest drain on my phone, 57%, and it was on for nearly 50 days.
I don't use Bluetooth and obviously a battery lasting 50 days is nonsense.
I've had a search and found people experiencing high drain from some services, or reporting 100% charge as soon as plugged in, but can't find anything resembling my problem.
Is there a way of resetting these stats without having to do a full wipe. I tried charging to 100% but they remain.

Thanks for replies. I did a charge last night but the stats remain. I probably didn't charge to 100% just almost 100%.
I find that it can take up to 30 minutes to go from 99% to 100%. I will leave it charging overnight and hopefully that will sort it
That Bluetooth figure just seems weird, and I have no idea where it came from??
