Transparent status and Nav bar - Nexus 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Guys is there any way to make Status bar and Nav Bar transparent in non-rooted nexus..??

This I would like also.
Allot of people say root is needed , but it's not. Someone just needs to wright a new app .. Atleast to hide navi bar

i would have rooted on the very first day i got it but my main motive behind getting the nexus was to get over the air updates directly from google.
Now if i root N4 then what will be the difference between s3 and n4..??
both can run on pure vanilla android roms..
getting my dileama..?

Even if they write a new app, but pushing it to system requires root

The difference is the smoothness of the vanilla android. S3 is nowhere near as smooth as the N4

Motoblur suck ass!

I couldn't use it for more than 3 hours. Switched to adw launcher ex. Much better.

Kind of off topic but since I have a Nexus S I was hoping you could give your opinions on the screens. Which is brighter when full white (google.com for example)? I assume the NS has blacker blacks... is the extra resolution worth giving up the blacks? =)

I think nexus a bit brighter but warmer too. Atrix looks more natural. I snapped 2 pics using a evo ... the pic shows ns screen to bluish. Not like that !
NS amoled rules bro.

Amen I will not use this over my nexus s and the super amloed screen kills the qhd. Some other guy just said the same thing lol that's funny

The only thing keeping me away form the Atrix is Motorblur and locked bootloader...

agreed. and the nexus S is likely just a lot smoother since the UI takes advantage of the GPU. A new feature to 2.3...
Oh good, another NS owner. How is the battery life compared to the NS? Did the phone feel a bit sluggish even after you made ADW your default launcher?

Teaser CM Nemesis?

Anyone know what this is about??
https://plus.google.com/+CyanogenMod/posts/Y2VsNre74Uf
Something new is coming... (Nemesis Teaser) http://t.co/VS6jPC2FZw CyanogenMod (@CyanogenMod)
It says "Free" on the lockscreen where the carrier should be, and it seems to stay on "new memories" for a long time.
Probably just another of CM's (truly) ground breaking/revolutionary things.
Free is a french carrier...so maybe a cm phone....or as youtubers said a custom os based on cm?
I'm wondering about the "memories" most. Either way, there should be no shortage of theories!!
Interesting... Only time will tell I guess.

I dont think they make a teaser just for security addons!!This has to be big!!
Probably branching out to do their own thing like Miui.

Its probably gonna be like a button to make that annoying crappy fanboy next to you disappear.
cyanogen reference device
I have been poking around the CM forums. No one really knows about this. But here's what might happen. I believe that with the security breaches in Android (NSA and Master key Failure) and CM taking a lot of interest in the same, I think Nemesis would the some kind of Security guard. The "free" , if has any significance, would mean Freeing yourself from the surveillance (?).
On the other hand this is what CM devs are saying -
Make your mind.

Unless you put it in a case. But I'd say if you have that big of a problem with it, take it to the store and exchange it.

I hope someone develops something like this. Maybe a slide version if possible like the Play so we can still use it as a phone without the gamepad getting in the way.
*.*
i need that when it comes out...
Anyway i think the Shell style isn't convenient, slider rulez
I agree slider rules. I may not have my PLAY anymore, but I still consider it to be the best gaming phone around. At least as far as emulators. I was able to run MC4 at 35-40fps by using app quarantine to kill all apps except mc4 the launcher and keyboard. And over clock to 1.4 with performance on lupus kernel. Game flew. Anyways sadly I had to sell my old xperia play some months ago. But I used it for almost 3 years.

This would be awesome to see and try out, granted it will never replace my xperia play which I found a keyboard that lets me type using the gamepads slbut sadly its only compatible with gb but I still have a select few games I can play without the use of the touchscreen
Looks really cool, would be nice if they did make a module like that

Lol ozzmanj1... You always bring us the juiciest of the news, even if it is a concept.
If people are looking into such possibilities, Project Ara might end up being the place to go after the Play.
Perhaps add extra battery capacity in the controller too? Or space for more Ara modules... Just a few ideas. lol.
On another note, Ara is going to be epic - been following it closely for a while now ever since PhoneBlocks.
