I hope someone develops something like this. Maybe a slide version if possible like the Play so we can still use it as a phone without the gamepad getting in the way.

*.*
i need that when it comes out...
Anyway i think the Shell style isn't convenient, slider rulez

I agree slider rules. I may not have my PLAY anymore, but I still consider it to be the best gaming phone around. At least as far as emulators. I was able to run MC4 at 35-40fps by using app quarantine to kill all apps except mc4 the launcher and keyboard. And over clock to 1.4 with performance on lupus kernel. Game flew. Anyways sadly I had to sell my old xperia play some months ago. But I used it for almost 3 years.

Another interesting article mentions the beloved xperia play.

This would be awesome to see and try out, granted it will never replace my xperia play which I found a keyboard that lets me type using the gamepads slbut sadly its only compatible with gb but I still have a select few games I can play without the use of the touchscreen

Looks really cool, would be nice if they did make a module like that

Lol ozzmanj1... You always bring us the juiciest of the news, even if it is a concept.
If people are looking into such possibilities, Project Ara might end up being the place to go after the Play.
Perhaps add extra battery capacity in the controller too? Or space for more Ara modules... Just a few ideas. lol.
On another note, Ara is going to be epic - been following it closely for a while now ever since PhoneBlocks.

Is that a live camera image or just your wallpaper?
Kinda sucks that its not tilted towards the driver.
No build thread? How did you get it installed? Integrate it into the speakers? Is that camera live? Did you leave the factory unit behind the Transformer?
Not a back up cam, if they make it, it will be on it soon.
Its not facing the driver, just in case there are 5 other people in the truck, but I almost did that!
Head unit is above it, the A/C controls were moved below cup holder... will post picks of the whole build once I
get home...
Galaxy tab used to be intalled before and a 10",7" screens before that, so is has been a long going project...

Clean install, major props.
Actually you don't need to turn it towards the driver because the viewing angle is so good on this thing.
looks great.
to tilt maybe something like a tv mount with an arm that ca be extended out..?
(not sure if those exists for something like a tablet)
This looks awesome..
Tilt mount sounds good, I'll try to fabricate a smaller version n see how it works!

Show your SSLauncher screenies and share your setup

I saw a thread elsewhere in XDA about this, but lets make it all about the Evo... because different phones can do different things. That being said, I am an ICS junkie, and coming from GB the one thing I really missed were the screen transition options and customizabilty of the launchers for it....Sure Apex and Nova are great, but lack the holy sh*t factor many GB launchers could give you with themes, icons, docks, and screen transitions. I haven't heard about this launcher in the Evo threads, so I figured I would share with others who hadn't heard of it either. Once you figure this launcher out, you will fall in love with it and what you can do with it. It plays well with ICS roms.. even HWA ones and works well with GB roms. Give it a shot, you won't be dissapointed. It evens gives you an option to save your setup in a zip file to share with others. Everything you see is fully customizable even down to the font.
Here is the market link for free version
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.ss.launcher&hl=no
I will start with my ICS setup - AOKP 33.
GB to follow!

the proximity sensor and light sensor are frosted?
just wondering!
Doubt it cuz the frosting would inhibit the function of the sensors. This is probably a dummy display model photographed by the graphic designers for the image.

Dark Knight Rises not supported on GS3?

I just recently tried to download the new Dark Knight Rises game from the play store and it says that my device (GS3) is not compatible. I find it very odd that they would not include the GS3 with the launch of this game, it shows that some of my older devices actually are compatible, like my GS2 and HTC Sensation. Does anyone know why our phones are not compatible or included? And if it will be in the future? I was really looking forward to playing this game.
Not compatible for my Vzw GS3 either, or for that matter my asus infinity. Weird
I see a comment that says constantly crashes for my GS3, so they probably took it off the market for the GS3 until they come out with an update.
Plays really well for me, Sprint

you have to wake up and understand that there are more than one company who makes Android phones.
Tons of different specs like resolution of the display and different CPU/GPU.
Lots of games running on Windows still have problems related to GPU. Just read any driver's change log from ATI or Nvidia and you will understand.
And who really cares if you cant get the game the first week ??? Seriously...
I think it'll come out soon, when spiderman first came out,I tried to buy it ,said my device wasn't compatible, then after couple days I checked and it was available. I'm on the verizon network also.

Why The Name "Shield" Is Appropriate

The name shield is appropriate because it protects or shield you from boredom.
Possibly the most useless post.

It even sounds like this would be a shield THOR WOULD USE.

If you want to sound like a kernel hacker, you can also call it "roth".

No. Never. Worst name ever.
I think it's a better name than vita, wii u, xbox one and probably a few others, and those consoles come from companies that have been doing it for years.

Roth was the internal codename when we needed to refer to it by a codename other than Thor. So yes, we had a codename for the codename.
