Hi XDA, I'm a current G1 owner looking to move on to the G2...I held on to the G1 for the most part b/c of the physical Keyboard...
I do have a T-Mobile account (PrePaid), so how much Unlocked/No Contract G2's are going for as of now? Haven't seen too many on CL yet.

Before I saw them in the high 3s maybe low 400s but news of root has slightly bumped that price up to mid 4s from what I'm seeing.
Where are you seeing those prices? Best I have seen is 540 from negri electronics.
I got it from T-Mobile for $200 down and $300 spread trough the next 19 months. And I'm on the even more + without contract.

Another question, slightly off topic, do they come in Black?
I traded a vibrant even up for my g2...then the guy texted me two days later saying he bricked the vibrant, so I gave him a hd2 even swap and a excellent hacker friend brought it back to life on froyo.
on clist, I've seen new g2's selling for 300
paid 400 even for mines on craigslist a month ago

Gray and... gray. There is only one colour that I've seen.
I bought mine off eBay BNIB for $490 first week it came out. You could probably get it for a little less now.
It only comes in the Metallic Grey.
Damn that sux...Oh well, should I wait for a Black version?

They may not come out with other finishes. But you never know, they may come out with different colors after the holiday. I am on the even more plus plan and paid full price $500 plus tax and shipping.
I've currently got a Hero CDMA and I am looking at picking up the EVO 4G today.
Curious to know if anyone can recommend the cheapest places to upgrade. It looks like Sprint direct will get me at $199 after a mail in rebate, but Best Buy also says $199 and doesn't mention a rebate at all.
Any other suggestions? I am thinking Best Buy is my best bet.

Do it at Best Buy for sure. They make the mail in rebate instant, so what the price tag says is what you pay in the store. Much more convenient than having to deal with the mail in rebate.
Radio Shack matched the $199 in store. I'd do Amazon but I'm not looking to mail order.
I'll probably pick it up at Best Buy in a few hours...time to start researching the good roms for a new platform.
Go with best buy.....but keep saying no to their insurance ....they tell you they replace it on the spot, then when you do need a new phone they tell you they need to mail it out.....hasn't happened to me personally but I have read about too many best buy insurance horror stories to ever go with that...I would stick with sprints TEP

My Friend and his Wife got the Best Buy insurance for their EVO's and have had Zero problems with it, Best Buy has done 3 in-store swaps for them over the past 5 months.

He is right. I got a deal sometime last month for $99.99 , activation fee waived, and free shipping overnight. You can't beat this. I got very lucky. I would wait just to see that offer come back again. Shoot, if I see again I am getting my wife one too.
I ordered a pair of these yesterday over the phone with sprint, I asked them to match the bestbuy $149 price and they did, and they also waived the activation and gave me free shipping. And since I'm porting 2 numbers over from tmobile they are giving me $125 per line for that.
So if you hate best buy as much as I do, you don't have to deal with them if you can stand to wait a few days for a phone to ship out.
I'm going to spend that time backing up what I want off of my current phones and getting ready to ebay them or something.
I wonder if that only works for new customers, or if it works for those of us who upgraded.

thanks for the heads up. wish i would of known sooner, i already bought mine from best buy. i paid the $199 bc i was adding a 5th line...i would take it back, but i already ported my at&t number over, so its a no go...oh well at least i'm still getting my $125 port-in credit.

why so much? I don't know really how sprint plans work, I didn't have a contract on tmo, does sprint have non contract plans like month to month that you're on so you didn't have to renew a contract?
my line was an upgrade....paid 199.99 tired to get them to pm they told me to get bent. I could return it but then its 35.00 restock....thats lame! They also reset my upgrade status from 75 to 150....so maybe I sholdnt complain to much.
i wasn't eligible for upgrade or discount so i paid retail. but so far i love this phone. i came from a rooted evo with aosp gingerbread

I had a Hero, but broke contract for $50 to get the Nexus S at $199..I also got $40 for my hero which had a cracked screen and serious body damage. Best decision I've ever made!

I bought this phone for retail as well for $550 plus tax from sprint release morning. Came out to be $620 with tax and the gloss black tpu case. Worth every penny,love thus phone so much! I hate beat buy as well they are selling it retail for $699 little over 8 bills with tax and a case. Screw that. This phone is awesome and I love it's on sprint

Anyone know if they'll price match in the Sprint store?
I just wanted to update, called UPS to tell them to hold the package at the warehouse, not able to do that only sprint can change it. I just called sprint they told me they can't change it either.
I specifically asked the rep I placed the order with if this was possible and I was LIED to.
Now I have to either try and work from home or take a day off of work to wait at my house for my phone to show up. What a ****ing joke, this isn't getting off to a good start at all.

for the e3D ? really i went to preorder mine so i stopped in at the 2 stores near me ... neither are taking preorders .. reason no release date umm WTF . i told them to check androidcentral.com and you will see radioshack leaked the release date June 24.
he looks it up and say's can't trust it since it's not from sprint .... wow then tell me im the only one that has asked about the phone and doughts it will be a big hit ..WOW
oh well bestbuy got my preorder i asked how many they had taken for preorders he smiles and says .. im the last one for that store IE 35 preorders

I can't say I'm surprised, some sprint store employee's don't even know what time or day it is and only know when the store closes. I have had extremes when going to sprint store such as just plain terrible customer service to fantastic customer service. Oh well I wouldn't preorder from sprint if Bestbuy is doing an instant rebate anyway.

If you recall when the EVO was coming, Sprint was not taking preorders at first...it was Radio Shack (and I think Best Buy came a bit later). It's marketing....Sprint sells exclusives to these stores so they generate traffic. The phone still gets sold..and the participating stores get traffic so people will buy other things. Once it's closer to (or right at launch) the exclusive is over and the Sprint stores jump in.
Radio Shack's internal communication isn't that great. Some are franchise and some are company owned...which leads to "huh?" a lot.
Also depends on what type of store it is. Only corporately owned stores are able to take preorders, indirect (preferred/authorized/co-branded/etc) are not able to.
Lol cheesy. Just did the same thing. Went to sprint to pre order and they looked at be like I was crazy. Said they didn't have a release date yet. I said the 24th and he looked baffled. Told him I would just go to best buy and he said "are they doing pre orders?" I said yes and radio shack. So I went over to the best buy in the same shopping center and 10 minutes later I ordered 2 of them. Smh........

For some reason Sprint doesn't seem to want to sell many phones in the store. The Sprint prices for all phones are always higher in the store and online than they are at other retailers, their mail-in-rebates are actually mail-in, and they're the last to offer pre-orders. Take for example the EVO, which is still $199 from Sprint, is $149.99 at Radio Shack.
I just pre ordered mine today, they only wanted $50, then asked for my number so they could call when it comes in. I asked him about the leaked radio shack flyer and he said he doesnt think its fake but doesnt know how true it is. Then my "wtf" moment was when he told me I was #2 on the list!
I got my pre order last week for 50$ gift card that can be used to buy the phone. Weird some of the sprint stores do and some don't. I'm also #2 on the list lol

:-( now I'm not sure...I was dead set on getting the E3D but I've watched/listened reviews (podcasts) on the sensation and there similarities and also on the Samsuck Galaxy S2 and it looks like the Sammy (to me) is over all alot faster smoother more fluid moving phone. :-( now i know all about samsungs crappy issues lol (from previous phone's) but I'm still up in the air about this one..(did I also mention that I hate touch wiz ? :-\

Same deal with me, I went to the corporate sprint store and the obese lady told me that I have to pre-order online, which I told her that you can't do that.
Luckily next door is a radioshack, so I got my pre-order there. I assume sprint still gets money from these orders, but not as much as when bought from the store.
I'm really surprised at how many of you enjoy sending in those 150 dollar rebates. Radio Shack handles the rebate for you so the phone is 199.99 + tax. At sprint it will be 349.99 and you deal with the rebate. I don't get it. Radio Shack has my preorder and I already laid down 50 so its 149 and if I trade in a EVO it will be 50 bucks. Can't beat that.

I walked into my sprint store and pre ordered no problem... Got gift card and confirmation number... Turned around 5 minutes later and used the gift card to pay 50 towards my bill...

I never got a gift card at my Sprint store. Just an invoice paper saying I pre ordered and paid my $50

Did anyone else have issues pre-ordering when they went to either of these stores? When my friend and I went to Best Buy there was only one pre-order made and that associate wasn't working that day. None of the current employees could help us finish our order and we ended up leaving the store with nothing.(got the 50$ BB coupon refunded as well)
Sprint couldn't even log into their system to do the preorder, but after taking our info, it only took 15 minutes from the time we entered the store to the time we left. BB took 40..for nothing being accomplished.
At least I will receive my phone on the 19th and I'm off work that day so I'm happy.

I prefer to order from sprint online...I can't stand someone else unboxing my smartphone putting there grubby hands all over it like BB does. Half the fun when buying a new toy is unboxing it yourself and turning it on.
