Best Buy + Upgrades

I'm wondering if I can use my upgrade at best buy.. I'm guessing i can because I don't want to deal with the mail in rebate... :/ whats also cool about best buy, is when you sign up with sprint through them, they instantly give you an upgrade. I got my hero in Nov and have had that little $150 upgrade thing on MySprint this whole time just thought I inform the uniformed. I'm going morning of June 4th and getting this beast btw. do you think there will be a line?

I also got an instant upgrade when I joined my a family plan when I got a hero, same with my wife. From RadioShack though. I thought it was a glitch or something and hope it doesn't go away haha. Plan on using it for the Evo.

If that is true that is annoying. If it is incorrect it is more irritating as I am sick of retail employees who don't know a damn thing about the stores they work at . If anyone knows that would be great. I would like to know all my options.

Looks like I'm be going to BestBuy to pre-order today

I would love to preorder my main concern if I do it through BestBuy is will Sprint still give me the credits that I'm getting now. For example, I get $20 credit a month plus 15% discount. Those are big credits to me. My bill goes from $89.99 (before taxes and fees) to $70 after all taxes and fees. I would hate to loss those.

you will get everything your contract has now . ive upgrades 3 times at BB and never had any troubles .
i want to know HOW much you need to pre order ... i have never preordered a phone

could I also turn in my hero at time of purchase for some money back? I know sprint does that

$50 and the rebate is instant ..... i just got back mine is securedDD

I went to BB today to preorder my phone. I'm a Sprint Premier customer and my 12m date was June 11th. The sales person looked up my account and said I'm eligible as of June 1st. Fantastic timing!

Well I won't qualify for the $150 upgrade credit because I used it for the Hero. But at least I can get the $100 rebate up front. So I'll be paying $350 for my Evo.

You might want to check with them again because one the sales reps said it would be 599.99 retail price from best buy.

who is pre-ordering the Sprint Evo 4G?

I'm headed to my local Best Buy store to be there when the doors open at 10:00 a.m. today to pre-order the Evo... is anyone else going to get this phone right away? For those who don't know, if you gave Best Buy your email address at the Evo page on their site, they sent out an email last night around midnight pacific time saying that you could pre-order the Evo now. There doesn't seem to be any way to pre-order it online yet, so I'm gonna be at the store today! See you there?
Let's try to get an idea of which store you pre-ordered from and how many people were there, or if you're going to wait and try to get one when it comes out June 4th?

me too, STL Missouri, BB rep new but the mobile guy did not, then the mobile was shocked at the $199.99 price tag, as he looked at his iPhone in disgust. haha

Just went to a seattle suburb best buy and they said I CAN'T pre-order this phone because they don't carry sprint phones in the store?! they said they can only carry 3 of the major carriers so they have verizon, att, and tmobile. i showed the email i got and they said sorry, order it online. i explained that i can't order it online because their website says to get it in the store... wow. I guess ill try radioshack even though I hate that store.

When you go into pre-order can you order it for the full price or do they only do pre-orders if you are signing a new contract?

Went to a Sprint store, and they took my name, address, phone number, and social security number, and they said that will reserve an Evo for me on the day it comes out. They said theywill get a line like they did for the Pre, but can schedule me for any time of day (after the rush dies down) so I can just walk in and choose a plan and walk out. They will call me on the 3rd (the day before it comes out) to schedule a time for me to come in. Sounds good - buying it directly from Sprint is fine with me anyway. Getting a little bit tired of Best Buy, and Radio Shack is so 1980 anyway

After reading online about a gift card we're supposed to get i went back and got mine. Would've been nice if the best buy guys mentioned this in the first place. Appointments are to be set on the third when they call people based on when they made the preorder. I'm 8th in line at my store

by the way, the Sprint store didn't require me to put any money down, they just took my information and said they will call me the day before. so, maybe try the sprint store if you don't have the $50 right now. the guy i dealt with was a sales manager or something to that effect and was very friendly and knowledgable, he said he guarantees i will have one reserved. no gift cards though he said they don't even know which contracts are applicable for this phone yet for sure, but he said he's pretty sure it will be "80 bucks" which makes sense based on the 450-minute plan for $69 and the $10 fee for 4G.

The store I called said they are not doing reserves or pre-orders, wtf

I just preordered at One of the BB's in Las Vegas. 50$ commitment thogh they said I could use the 50$ for something else or apply it towards the phone at release. So it's almost like a free preorder. Thogh you can't preorder if you are too broke. I went to BB, a retailer I abhor, because they weren't as dumb as the broad I talked to at radioshack two days ago and becase they always deduct mail in rebates at the time of purchase.

Pricing between stores

So the epic 4g has finally been announced - august 31 for $250. Is there any chance that other retailers like best buy or radio shack will sell the phone for more like 200? It seems as though most phones are priced at 200 already. Will the epic see a drop in price anywhere?

I don't think any stores can sell it for a different price. The best you can expect is instant rebates instead of mail in at places like Best Buy and maybe a gift card like a lot of places did for the Evo and Droid X

Physical stores don't tend to sell for less. However websites do. On Amazon the captivate and vibrant were both $150 on release day, and on the 2nd day they had both hit $99.99. I could see the epid 4g going as $200 then $150 or maybe $150 then $100, it's hard to say for sure though.

It would be nice. The mail in rebates don't help offset the cost very well. You have to have the phone for 30 dats before you can submit it and then up to 12 weeks to receive it. In the mean time you have to pay $350 up front.

Radioshack just called me 2day concerning the epic. Preorders start Friday 8/13/2010 with $50 down, u get a gift card and pay the rest on the 31st. Overall price is $249. This is at the waterfront store here in Pittsburgh, pa. Thought y'all would want to know.

About amazon:
how hard is it to get one ot the phones off of amazon? Do they sell out quick?
Also, do you have to go through the rebate process to get money back? This sure sounds like a great deal vs buying through sprint. My only issue is availability.

Can't comment on availability much. I have only been watching the Galaxy S phones on there, but the Captivate and Vibrant both had 0 issues with stock, I never once saw them sell out on amazon. The evo I have even seen on amazon once or twice, and I've never seen it anywhere else in stock online. The droid X is shipping in 1-2 weeks though. Popular phones get backstocked. The EPIC 4g is it hard to say whether it will be backordered or not for sure. There isn't really even a guarantee that Amazon will get it on the first day or at all.
The EVO 4G btw isn't discounted at all despite being out for so long, but other phones from sprint are, I think stock availability is likely to play a major role in pricing.

I reserved an epic at BestBuy but I'm checking Amazon and Newegg on release day.

I called a location near me and asked if they were taking reservations and they said they just started. They took my name and number and said theyd call me when they came in.

[CLOSED/G2] T-Mobile stores in my area won't sell early :(

I called a few of the T-Mobile's in Orlando and they said that they weren't allowed to sell them until the 6th. So is this selling early thing a regional thing only?

I tried calling several locations around the Orlando/Winter Park area too, and none of them were selling it early. Finally found a store in Waterford Lakes that sold it to me about an hour ago. Very happy with the phone so far.

I went to the T-Mobile store in the Brandon Mall. They told me they could not sell for upgrades until the 6th but for new accounts or if you have to add a new data plan or service to get it, they could sell it to you today.

I just called 2 T-Mobile stores here in Los Angeles and they confirmed that they are selling already.

I finally was like, "no I don't wnat to be put on your waiting list, whats the motivation for htat when I can hop over to radio shack and buy it right now". Makes no sense to me WHATSOEVER why they would refuse to sell it. Unfortunately radioshack's no contract price is 550, grrr gotta wait till the 6th I guess ($499 at tmo stores).

Well radio shack isn't tmo corp. They are autherized dealers. If tmo has a date they wanna sell at that's the date they feel will give enough time to make store changes and offical shipments in to all stores. They have to change out 10k plus stores so that u get the same experience at every location and stock them all. If radio shack wants to sell early that's up to them but if the get some type of backlash from tmo for selling early is a differnt story. In the end its all marketing really. If u dnt wanna wait then pay the extra 50 bucks. Call it your convience fee heh

They had a real working one out on display at the T-mobile here in Florida. Didnt ask about buying it though. If it was on display, you think that means theyre selling it or?

I just went to Radio Shack and got mine. The cashier had to call Tmobile customer service and the tmo rep said that this was the first retail purchase recorded. I doubt it though.

What time did u get it? I waited outside the door til they opened at 11, and was gone by 11:30, g2 in hand. My tmo store was pissed when I brought back the vibrant on day 13, lol.

haha, funny about you returning your vibrant. I returned mine also but the guys were really cool at the tmo store because they knew the G2 was a better phone than the vibrant. I happen to agree.

Just picked up a G2 at the T-Mobile store in Mountain View, CA (San Antonio Shopping Center - 510 Showers Drive) at about 3:30pm PT. They didn't say how many they had in stock, but did say mine was only the second G2 sold today.

Well, I'm thinking the Guy was ticked because he doesn't get he commission now, plus I went to the shack instead of the store. Oh well. I actually had to go to a different store to get my refund on the vibrant. He told me he couldn't do it because he didn't have the money in his drawer. Total prick about it too.

Best or Cheapest place to buy a new epic 4g?

My brother is due for an upgrade and he's new to android. I think the phone will be great for him. So I was wondering where is the best place to buy an epic? I'm looking in terms of price and deals. So far, the best deal I found was at radio shack where I can get one for $49 + tax w/ contract after trading any old working phone.

Thats probably cheapest price..radioshack had it for 29.99 before like a week ago :/

Are you sure? the radioshack employee told me that it was $149 for an upgrade, then take off $100 after trading in any old working phone, which would come to $49 + taxes...said that the promotion was going to end saturday, so I'm assuming it must've just started. I'm gonna call them to double check.

wow, can't beat that. ridiculous that the evo is still pulling $199 on contract

Talked to two different radio shack stores just now. The first store that I called said that its for new contracts only. The second one I called said that upgrades were indeed eligible for the offer, and the first store I called didn't know what they were talking about. She even went on to say that she just recently did the same offer for an upgrading customer...so I don't know what to believe.

Well I manage a RadioShack, so I'm pretty sure that it is only for new activations. The store maybe able to add the $100 trade and save rebate but the store will charged back for it.

I worked for radioshack. Screw them. They only pay decent money for iphones with they're trade ins. Radioshack I apples personal *****. You guys should of seen how hard radioshack was fighting to get iphones. Apple threw us about 10000 units FOR THE ENTIRE US and now radioshack takes I in the ass. Stupid ****ing company I can't wait till they're business model cracks and they're ****ed. Capitalist corporate ****s.

I called a 3rd and 4th store in my area, both said that upgrades were a go. They also said that ANY working trade-in phone would qualify for the deal, doesn't matter the value. I guess I'll just have to wait until my brother and I head down there later this week.

Go for it then. Like I said the system may still prompt for the rebate but the store will get charged back for it not you. There misinformation is your gain.

Don't hate the company because you left them or were terminated. Yes they do give a lot for iphone trade in but there is never a price drop for the iphone either. As far as love for other phones. A $100 trade in towards the epic to bring it down to $50 is pretty good. Love them our hate them you still get some of the best prices out there and employees who will go that extra mile for you instead of just clerking you out.

Looked at the radioshack ad. The epic price IS $149.99 on new activation, and the $100 trade-in IS also on new activation....
....Buuuuut...went to my local radioshack store. She took my cheap $20 virgin mobile phone, and rang up the epic under my brother's line. Kept ringing up to $198 after a couple tries, then she did something with the computer and it rang up to $98 after taxes...

Radioshacks are a corporate stores biggest headache. GOD the issues those guys cause make me want to scream sometimes. Sure...you'll get GREAT pricing on phones over there...and thats about it....

That's all I really wanted from them. I went in there on Easter day to pick up a sata cable for my PC and they don't even carry those!

I paid $60 each shipped for our contract extension Epics. I used wirefly friends and family who runs radio shacks site sales. The price on the Epics seems to change weekley. They are back up to $130 now.
I just shopped around untill I found the best price.
