[Q] Attempting to install tiamat for Xoom 3.2...

I was trying to install Tiamat for my Xoom running version 3.2 as per the instructions on the following post:

I was able to install ClockworkMod, put the Tiamat 2.0 zip on my SD card, boot into recovery mode, select the ZIP file for Tiamat, and it claims to install. However, once I reboot, nothing appears to have changed. My kernel version still remains the same. Am I doing something wrong? Is there a step I am missing?
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Is your Xoom rooted?
What version of CWM recovery did you install?
You can certainly install the Tiamat Katana kernel or the Tiamat Manta Ray Rom (which also contains the kernel) but you may need some additional steps, depending on your current situation.

I am having the exact same issue, except im on 3.1 and tiamat 1.44
Everything appears to install fine, but when i boot into the system I do not see that the kernel has changed....
Do you really need an external microSDHC card to make this work? I thought the latest CWM let you install from the internal media?

You really need a micro sdcard, and you need CWM recovery 3.2.0.0 R4c version.

Can the SDCARD have other data on it or just the ZIP file?

I have the same question. I returned my 2 week old SGT10.1 for a Xoom yesterday, and I miss being able to flash roms from internal media.
I have CWM 4.0, it LOOKS just like the SGT version: is there a reason why I shouldn't try to flash Tiamet Manta Ray from the internal storage? Surely someone has tried...

It can have other data on it. Just make sure you have enough room for the zip file and a nandroid backup if you plan to make one.

I had the same problem but I think I figured it out. I had been trying to flash the overclocked version. As a shot in the dark I downloaded the stock Tiamat kernel and tried the process again. BINGO! ! I was then able to overclock to 1.7 using setCPU.

Okay, I found part of the problem...
Turns out, the Xoom is mounting its internal storage at /mnt/sdcard and the actual external SD Card to /mnt/external1. From the CWM recovery, I can't seem to navigate to /mnt/external1. What should I do?

I suspect that it's your version of CWM Recovery that's to blame. If you have Version 4.0.0.x you have the wrong version...it doesn't see your external card and you can't flash. If this is the case, you must download and install the Tiamat 3.2.0.0. R4c version, available in the Development section.

I was able to flash without seeing the external flash card. I booted up my Xoom,
connected the USB cable from my laptop which automounts the internal storage which is what is found at the /mnt/sdcard mount point. I copied the stock CPU .zip file to the base directory. Disconnected, rebooted into recovery. Once there I chose "Install zip from sdcard". Then chose "choose zip from sdcard". Then scrolled down to the bottom of the directory listing where I found my zip file and chose that zip file. Then I chose "Yes" to install and it finished from there. FYI I am running CWM v4.0.0.4

It's your choice, but the developers recommend flashing from and backing up to an external sdcard. If you do a nandroid backup with your current recovery version where will the backup be stored? At mnt/sdcard, your internal storage. What if you can't boot one day and have to end up wiping all of your user data before you could restore? If you backup to the external sdcard, that wouldn't be affected by a wipe. Anyway, I guess if you don't have/can't afford an sdcard it's a way to flash from recovery, but I think that version is more for phones which have only one sdcard--external--and only have a tiny amount of internal storage.

Those are just mountpoints, they have no bearing on how they present the contents.
CWM and Tiamat just have different mountpoints to the same device, the contents are the same.
If you put a file in /mnt/external1 you will see it in CWM under /mnt/sdcard, exactly the same.

Going back to Tiamat 3.2.0.0. R4c from CWM 4.0.0.4
Hi, somehow i mistakenly update CWM to 4.0.0.4. How can I back to CWM 3.2.0.0 R4c? Any advised much appreciated.
EDIT : Sorry, managed to back to 3.2.0.0 R4c by flashing again.

Would I be able to flash back to 3.2.0.0 R4c (from 4.0.0.4) even though I am already running the Tiamat kernel? I am guessing yes but I just want to be sure before I break something.

you would have to look for an icon pack for the battery pictures. usually comes in a zip that you just flash in CWM. dont know if you have already but make sure you hit the thanks button for okantomi! do it now!

help with nook

i have tried everything to fix my nook fist formating wont work then installing nook 1.0.1 wont install then 8 boot wont restore nook just gives me error. right now im on the n screen running 1.0.0 i think

You should never fist your Nook.
Seriously, you have to provide info on your setup. CM7 version, CWR version, SD or eMMC install, etc.....

Without knowing what you were initially trying to fix or what materials you have on hand, I would say make an up-to-date CWM card:

hey thanx did this but dose not format any of them but loaded the zip file and it took it but stuck on n and tried the 8 fails boots and it always fails to restore

[Q] Can't read SD 4th partition (verygreen CM7)

I had CM7.1 installed onto the microSD (verygreen's method) and also had MIUI on emmc.
Today I decided to the unusable MIUI and install CM7 to emmc. Installation went fine but post installation of CM7(emmc) I booted into my SD CM7 to do a TB to restore onto emmc but it couldnt read/find the supposed SD(i.e. mmcblk1p4)
Next up I tried NookColor UMS. It mounts emmcblk1p1 as boot and I can add/remove files but the emmcblk1p4 gets mounted as a removable drive that "needs to be formatted".
(P.S. I did try mmcblk1p2/p3 but couldn't see anything in them either. I assumed they must be ext and since I'm on win7 I cant view them)
How do I get the emmcblk1p4 to mount/read?

Yeah. The same. I put the zip in the boot partition of the card. (mmcblk1p1)

Are you sure that you didn't format your card when you wrote the boot image to install CM7 to the emmc?
How did you go about installing CM7 to emmc? Which emmc install method did you use?

Here's what I did:
1. Reboot into recovery. (Emmc CWM, not verygreen's installer.)
2. Unmount/remove SDcard.
3. Wipe/data factory reset.
4. Insert/ mount SDcard
5. Install zip from SDcard.
6. Choose zip and confirm
I know when we do a wipe data/factory reset then the sd-ext partition is formatted and that would delete any one of my CM7 SD partitions so I removed SD before this step.
Could it be that during flashing something happened to mmcblk1p4?
I had no ideas about the various methds for emmc install. I thought this was the standard procedure. Please tell me how to recover. Also if possible can you tell which would be the best method for doing something like this?

As I stated in my previous post..the CWM is emmc while have 2 copies of CM7 (sdcard- verygreen and the normal emmc). And CWM recognises emmcblk1p1 as sd-card. So I put ROMs there.
And my emmcblk1p4 can't be read.

[Q] Mirage-Kang theme installation

Noob question.
I d/l the theme from MiRaGe - KANG build of CyanogenMod
- transparency theme with circular battery indicator for 01262012 build. MD5sum: 6bc8eb898c39a303189d335b8d015afe Flash this theme after booting once with the new ROM.
but don't know how to install this theme. I unzip the files and copy it to a new directory on the uSD card. I tried using Astro file manager and locate the APK files but no option to install.
Can any1 point me in the right direction?

2. Choose install zip from sd card
3. Navigate to where the zip was downloaded.
4. Select zip file
5. Confirm and install.

I don't see Clockwork mod recovery anywhere on the NC. I did reboot into recovery mode but there is no option to choose install zip... the NC went straight into auto shutdown. What am I doing wrong? BTW, I'm running from my uSD. I saw another post saying that Clockwork mod doesn't work if running from uSD. Is that correct? If so what is my option to install the theme.

I hope someone else can help you. I run this from from emmc not SD card. You might check the thread in the development section about running this from from SD.

Do you still have the original bootable uSD you rooted and installed CM from? If so, you can boot off that uSD directly into CWM. That's how I just installed CM9. I set up the bootable on an old 1GB that I always keep as an emergency back up.

I think this person is trying to run cm9 from an SD card, which requires another method. Cm9 is not installed on emmc.

Thank you all for the inputs. I will look into loading CM7 onto the eMMC instead of SD.

Dont know if I should of stated my own thread but here is my question: How do I remove the theme if I dont like it?

Before installing on emmc, I would try dropping the zip on the card in boot and then boot into recovery and see if it works. Then check theme changer.

I tried and it doesn't work. The Clockwork Mod doesn't work with SD install. I did the eMMC install and everything works fine now. My NC is out of warranty so I'm not worry about the stock image but I did back it up with Clockwork Mod just in case. Again thanks every1 for the inputs.

questions before installing ROM

hello. I am having some questions before I install a new ROM to my Nook Color.
The device has already been rooted with CM10 by someone else, I am completely noob in this process So there goes:
1) the encore ROM files available on get.cm are made only for nook color?
2) can I downgrade to an older CM version afterwards, due to bad experience with it (ex: lag in applications...) ?
3) if I go to settings-apps and move all my applications to SD card will they still work after installing the new ROM ?
4) do I have to format the sd card that I put the zip ROM file on?
5) do I have to make a bootable sd card ?
6) is it recommended to format the system before I install the new ROM file? and how to do it ?
7) wipe data/factory reset means FORMAT ?

These answers assume that the original person installed the CM10 to internal memory. If they installed it to an SD, you need different answers.
1. Encore means Nook Color, so all labeled with encore should work.
2. Yes, just flash the older one over the new one This assumes you continue to use CM10 not the new CM10.1. You do not want to mix CM10 and CM10.1.
3. Yes, as long as you don't wipe data/factory reset.
4. No, it can and should be put on your normal SD without formatting.
5. You either need a bootable CWM or TWRP SD or have one of them installed internally. You can tell if you have it installed internally by using the cyanoboot boot menu. Hold n on boot and choose emmc recovery and see if you get one of them.
6. It is not recommended to wipe /system. The CM rom zip does that for you.
7. Wipe data/factory reset means it formats a few partitions on internal (/cache, /data) and then removes any apps you installed to SD.
