Something I accidentally found out. Works great. To get into the bootloader you have to hold the power button and volume down button, right? Turns out that it is also possible to get into the Bootloader by rebooting the device and to hold the volume down button when it boots. Not a revolutionary tip, but it makes things just a little more easy ... It reduces the need of a advanced power menu.
Yeh did that in other devices

I bet custom roms have a 'reboot to bootloader' do they not? When you click power. My viper Rom on inc s does, do I bet these tons do or will.

It would be nice, my trackball won't work sometimes idk why either.
or at least a different way of scrolling and selecting will be nice
I'd love to see an alternate method as well. My trackball sucks eggs in recovery

if your device is plugged into usb/wall charger while in recovery it may throw things off, my screen starts selecting things on its own and in recovery will auto scroll down and up because of it. just a suggestion but try while unplugged.

I FREAKIN WISH
i was just getting ready to ask amon if he could update the recovery with an alternate method of selecting
my track ball is completely dead
refurb coming tomorrow cause of this
My trackball has been acting weird, it doesn't even feel right. I have to exert much more pressure for it to be responsive. Scrolling with volume buttons and select with send button maybe? Touch support would be nice too, but I'm not as advanced as the devs so it may be complicated

Anyone knows a hardware buttons combinations for X10? Like a hard-reset or recovery mode.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=748575
I read somewhere else about the hardware button as well but I can't remember where. Sorry!
I was wondering the same. I read somewhere that i was supposed to hold the volume down button when turning on the phone however that doesn't work for me.
Recovery mode: hold the "menu" button (left one on x10)

My fault, it's safe mode...

lol love that "safe"
what does that do? o.0 is it like windows or sorta?
I'm guessing that it only loads system apps. I just rebooted using Quick Boot, and when I checked my phone I was in safe mode! Anyone else want to try this? Just use the default reboot option in Quick Boot.

Yah it is so that if you get a bad app you can delete it and you do this by holding the home or menu button when you boot up the phone.

Ah, I must have pressed it in my pocket while rebooting. This is a new feature, I'm guessing.

From what I googled it was on the nexus one too.
I know a lot of ROMs have this feature but I was wondering if there was a mod to add reboot to the menu list.
I am currently on stock EC05 rooted. I looked around but couldn't find anything. Would this even be possible without flashing a ROM? Perhaps an update.zip file could accomplish this?
TIA
You talking about adding it to memo or the power menu?
If its the power menu I write a how to if you wanna try it your self.

Yeah, I was talking about the power menu. I see they added the ability to turn data on/off in the that menu.
If you write up a tut, I'll definitely roll up the sleeves and give it a shot.

I have fix the power button twice , and I know that is about to give up on me. don't have warranty and i am out of the sates so sending it to asus is not an option this time.
Is there a way I can wake the tablet by long pressing the volume button ? I do have some coding skills if there is a how to, maybe I can work on this.
found this tool http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=850464 searching i will give it a try.

Hi, thank you very much for sharing those two apps. However, I can't seem to figure out how to use the free one. I activate it but once my tablet goes off I can't turn it back on with the volume keys. I've searched for a help file or instructions but the app doesn't even have a GUI. I'm unrooted and on stock ROM.

There is no GUI for the free app. just a pop up indicating that's been activated . some times you have to press twice the volume to turn it on.
I am rooted and still in CleanRom 4.1 .
.
Ok. I'll try when I get home. The power button on this tablet is pretty badly designed. :/
