It would be nice, my trackball won't work sometimes idk why either.

or at least a different way of scrolling and selecting will be nice

I'd love to see an alternate method as well. My trackball sucks eggs in recovery

if your device is plugged into usb/wall charger while in recovery it may throw things off, my screen starts selecting things on its own and in recovery will auto scroll down and up because of it. just a suggestion but try while unplugged.

I FREAKIN WISH
i was just getting ready to ask amon if he could update the recovery with an alternate method of selecting
my track ball is completely dead
refurb coming tomorrow cause of this

My trackball has been acting weird, it doesn't even feel right. I have to exert much more pressure for it to be responsive. Scrolling with volume buttons and select with send button maybe? Touch support would be nice too, but I'm not as advanced as the devs so it may be complicated

[Request] Trackpad wake

Simply using the trackpad button to wake the screen just as the lock button does.
first press-> wake screen, second press-> unlock
It was done to the Desire, it can be done for us.

+1 this would make my day.
Life would be awesome.
lockbot app does that, but it sometimes acts funny and doesnt work
i wouldn't be opposed to this. seems like a good idea.
We are already working on it but no luck yet. Don't worry, we will have it out soon for everyone.

Droid Incredible Rooted!
if it does indeed require a modified kernel, hopefully somebody combines this with ejhart's under volted stock kernel because his low voltage kernel is kickass.
This is included in the cyanogenmod rom.
Works about 80% of the time. Still in early testing for the incredible though.

Negative. I have been running the cyangen rom and it works 0% of the time.
Hold down the track pad to wake then a short press to unlock on the cm rom. It works everytime for me.
Edit: you can also 'double click' the trackpad to wake and unlock quickly.

Nope. Not for me. No long presses or continuous clicking wakes for me. Just the good ol power button like usual.

[Q] Disable Volume Rocker

I posted in the troubleshooting thread but I know people are going to be looking for this and it still hasn't gotten a solution so I am making another thread by itself for this.
Is there a way to disable to volume button on the EVO Shift as every time i close it I hit it and end up muting it. Is there an app or something to disable buttons?
Thanks,

Same thing happens to me. I wish I could just lock the volume in-place and not worry about it.
have you guys noticed you can go from max volume to vibrate in like 1 second flat if you hold the rocker down? i was amazed... i think we might actually have to fix this one guys haha

I used volume locker as well. Seems to work thus far.
This seems like a possible future fix to the issue, better than volume locker in my opinion, not to fond of that.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=909365
App called ButtonRemapper for full root.
Here you can follow what devices have support and possibly chime in to push for support of the Shift =)

The ButtonRemapper seems pretty cool except its got a huge security hole, it requires perm r/w to your system directory. I would not recomend that program. I would be interested in the volume locker, is that found in the app store?

[Info] Disabling the touchpad tap to click

I have been working on disabling the very annoying touchpad tap to click. The driver for the touchpad is in drivers/input/asusec/elan_i2c_asus.c. Its a built in module so I had to rebuild a kernel. I built a kernel based off of netformers kernel and changed the following lines (added the comments)
if (etd->tap_num == TP_CLICK ){
//input_report_key(dev, BTN_LEFT,1);
//input_sync(dev);
//input_report_key(dev, BTN_LEFT,0);
//input_sync(dev);
etd->tap_num=NO_FINGER_ON_TOUCHPAD;
This worked great, I now have full mouse control and can leave it enabled when I type.
Wow this is going to be very handy. Its extreemly annoying for me to. But would be great if there was some type of on/off switch
I am guessing that you need to be rooted in order for this to be possible?
This would involve flashing a new kernel so you would need to be rooted and have cwm installed.
Could you post a binary diff so we can manually patch? Don't feel like recompiling the whole kernel.
Thanks for your work!
Very cool!!!! Tap to click is freaking annoying to me. I don't know why anyone would want it with a mouse button...
It would be nice to have a way to set this from the front end though... That way it could be included in kernels without me compiling my own version every time someone releases one.
Holy crap, I will gladly paypal someone that comes up with an app to get rid of this stinking touchpad click You have to type like a pansy to keep your wrists from hitting the touchpad. Very annoying! If you can figure out this browser lag when typing, that would be great too!

My pansy typing skills suck so I just diable the thing 99% of the time. It'd be nice to have a way to just turn off the click action. I'd actually prefer if Asus just fixed the sensitivity issue and made it work more like my macbook pro.

Netarchy's next kernel will have the ability to toggle this on and off and I wrote a APK that lets you toggle it.

Maybe try rebooting... Has the issue always been there?
Nice, I was hoping he would add that in. Did you make any other change to the driver? With just the above a two finger tap will still click. I am not sure if it is that or something else, but, every now and then I still seem to get an unintended click. Its much better than without the mod, but, not perfect. I need to go through that driver really good, I dont think their timers are working right.

Yep. Netarchy got the two finger click taken care of. There is one more scenario he's got to finish. Apparently if you are pointing and moving the mouse with one finger and leave it on and tap with another... it also clicks... So we have to block that too.
EDIT: You can watch/view the commits on this file https://github.com/netarchy/android...46c722b5/drivers/input/asusec/elan_i2c_asus.c
Thanks, im on that branch. Didnt notice the update yesterday.

[KEYBOARD] Stock Gingerbread Keyboard without smiley key

That damn smiley key was driving me insane, so I got the Gingerbread keyboard source from AOSP, got it to compile, and got rid of the smiley face button. Other than that, it's identical to the stock Android gingerbread keyboard, so requires 2.3+. Eventually I may figure out how to make it able to be turned on and off, but that would rather defeat the point. Enjoy!
(Note: you have to enable it in the Keyboard settings before you can use it, just like any other keyboard.)
The Eclipse project (source) is available here.
this sounds like a good thing for me because it also became annoying to me.
quick question though because i cant check out the keyboard mod yet, but does it remove the smiley key completely, or does it replace it with an enter key or something?
soon as i get the chance, ill install and see for myself
Nice. I like that it has been replaced with the enter key instead. I find that to be immensely more useful.
I replaced it with the significantly-more-useful return key.

The smiley key doesn't annoy me per se, but the fact that the Enter key was removed does. So now, it is impossible to have any semblance of formatting in your SMS'es.
Will definitely give this a go as soon as possible. This is definitely a must have as far as I am concerned.
Thanks, but i've a problem with your keyboard.
I turned on the vibrate on keyboard settings, but there is no vibration when I push a key.

It's probably because you've packaged up the WVGA keyboard file, and not the qHD version. The Sensation sports a higher res screen.

That would make sense, but I don't see why the same keyboard wouldn't work on all devices. I mean, looking at the code, I see nothing that would prevent scaling. I was never asked for a target screen size to compile for, nor do I see any way to enter it. If someone could explain a way to fix it, I would gladly rerelease a qHD-compatible version.

You should try and work it out that Long Press of the return key let's you select smileys. It's one of my favorite features of Perfect Keyboard. But non the less, good job.

Tip: easy way to boot into the Bootloader

Something I accidentally found out. Works great. To get into the bootloader you have to hold the power button and volume down button, right? Turns out that it is also possible to get into the Bootloader by rebooting the device and to hold the volume down button when it boots. Not a revolutionary tip, but it makes things just a little more easy ... It reduces the need of a advanced power menu.
Yeh did that in other devices
