Nexus 4 Return Address Help (UK) - Nexus 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi All,
I have been in a running battle with Google/LG/TNT for 3 weeks now, I'm hoping XDA can save my sanity.
Has anyone in the UK returned a Nexus 4 recently.. If so do you have a copy of the address it was sent too.
Basically I got a replacement (for a phone which has a software fault that google insisted they needed to replace even though im 100% sure its a software problem), and they sent out a TNT bag and prefilled consignment slip.
Unfortunately the Slip is overprinted and you cant read any of the details like the account number/to address.
I emailed google to ask for the account number (as they only provided me an RMA number which they assured me TNT could process) and they again provided the RMA number which TNT again said they cant use without an account number.
After much back and forth they have sent me an Account Number (in response to an email requesting the address), but no address.
So I go back to google for the 15th time, and they tell me TNT have the address.. which of course TNT dont.
I ask TNT and they confirm they dont (which makes sense - you would imagine Google would know its own returrns address)
So instead I try calling them and get a very helpful american, who has trouble figuring out the product I am trying to return.. I admit it must be confusing when you only sell 3 products.. who then cant get the address, but promises to email me a RMA form which will have the address on it.
Instead (and directly contradicting what I was just told) he emails me a canned reply saying it has been escalated (TNT are booked to pick it up tomorrow by this point as they only need the address when they call for it not on the phone)
So.. I go back by email.. and get no response.
I'm honestly considering just writing Google/LG on it and giving it to TNT.. It appears Google dont know thier own returns address.
Please can anyone provide me the address
Thanks,
Sam

Mine went back to somewhere in Poland, I'll have a look when I get home if I remember (doing a 14 hour shift today!)

4smartphone.net Exchange Server Service

Greetings all,
I upgraded my 8125 to the Qtek ROM via summiter's ROM upgrade tool, (worked perfectly, thanks summiter!) and I enabled push email.
Since I didnt have and Exchange server, I signed up for one with 4smartphone.net after reading about them in PocketPC Mag. Anyone use them? there's a 15 day trial, but they couldnt get my account setup right after calling them 3 times and about 4 hours wait, then it seemed to work, push email worked great..
Now this morning, they're server is unresponsive again.. jsut wondering if anyone uses them and what their experiance with them is.. i'm not to happy with them right now..
I would also be interested in this. I need to find a good shared exchange provider and I am thinking about going with Intermedia.net.
I wasn't happy with the response I got on a pre-sales query. So I used 1and1.co.uk instead.
They provide push mail (but don't list it) and support a multi-domain email. The only down side is that they don't provide spam filtering. But I figured out how to block it (spam) via filtering.

I have been using 4smartphone for about a month w/o difficulty -- I use Outlook rules to send copies of all my office mail to 4smartphone which then pushes them to my k-jam. Only negative in this is that all the msg. come in with my name and address as the sender (no prob changing this if I use reply but it is an extra step). Service is quite fast and so far w/o problems in either direction.
well, just got an email from them about the server outage, with them profusely apologising.. at least they're letting their customers know about it..
another thing i didnt really like is you have to pay for a full year up front.. although right now i'm diggin' the fact that i get push email(tested i get an email within 15 seconds of it being sent), and also that my Outlook on my laptop and my 8125 are fully synced.. if i read it on my 8125, it's listed as read on my laptop and vice versa, so i dont have to re-read anything or whatever.. pretty slick.. they also sync contacts, tasks, calendar, etc too..
they have a 15 day trial, so im gonna give it another week or so and see how it goes..
Just signed up for this at mail2 web. I used to use them ages ago just to check a couple of pop3 accounts at work, but they are doing a beta of a free hosted Exchange service. Even better is that you can get a personal Exchange account for $1.99 a month. You need to create an email address with them, but you can link other pop3 accounts to it as well.
http://services.mail2web.com/FreeServices/m2wLive/
What I like about 4smartphone.net is that when you send mail through them, it will show as your own pre-set email address and not [email protected].
I just finished the trial and signed up for their Express service. I think you can get your money back (pro rata) if you cancel before your subscription expires.
I was considering 1and1.co.uk or 1and1.com too, but couldn't be asked to change all the settings.
I've been using 4smartphone since January and so far I am very happy with them. I have sent about 4 emails to tech support and I received responses within a few hours and they were very helpful. They even verified that my account switched from SMS notification to direct push when I asked (after I upgraded).
I really like using them, so much so that I got the company I work for to sign up with 4smartphone. There are a total of 9 people at my work. Great customer service and a great price.
I just setup a mail2web account and had some problems getting either the txt message based push to work or the direct push to work.
After I contacted them they told me this functionality hasn't been installed and will be done over the next week.
good service
I used 4smartphone when i was working from my office at home and the service was good. I am in a 30+ staff office now and we use Intermedia which is great to. I've got my email set up on my blackberry and you can check your email through outlook on the web which is convenient as well.

FREE EXCHANGE MAIL SERVICE FOR POCKETPC w/ DIRECT PUSH MAIL (reopened)

NOTICE: Lots of users have been asking if they can have an alias setup so that it looks like they are sending from thier personal email address (ie gmail, hotmail, yahoo ect..) and the answers is YES! With each account you can have an alias setup so that your recipents see your email address as anything you like! In order to keep this service alive, it is asked that you donate $15.00 USD in order to use this Email Alias service.
If you have/are signing up, it can take up to 48 hours for me to get your account activated. Please make sure to check your junk-mailbox for a confirmation email and then a activation notice! If you are intrested in other services or want more information, check out http://www.port88.org
This is something I do in my spare time for fun, so it may take me 48 hours before I get you set up. But being a Wizard/MDA user myself, I have found this to be a great tool.
Obviously all this cost money, and lots of it. I have had a few people donate to the cause which has been a great help. But some users ask me for special features that I normally would not offer to a basic user. Well the solution is simple, if more people donate (even a small ammount) I will be able to upgrade the server with more space and better processing power, and in turn more services will be free for everyone to use.
So if you like the service and feel that you can contribute, please send paypal payments to [email protected]
If you think you can donate in other ways (I currently looking for a forum site to be set up), please send me an email!
Keep our community growing, join today!
AK
PS - This time around it's a no nonsence approach that I am taking, so please do not waste my time. Additionally if you find that my emails are short in response, please know that I am not trying to be an ass, I just have a lot on my plate.
REGISTRATION ARE BACK OPEN - June 1st, 2007

Don't fall on this!!! Never give personal information over the internet.
 Everyone must be smart enough to notice that this a trap!!
First of all this is totally legit, I do this in my spare time so it might take me a day or so to respond. If you send me an email about signing up, please include the username you would like. If you feel unsafe about sending your 'personal information' dont send me an email, as I will need your Name and a prefered username to sign you up, if you think this is too reveling, do not sign up for anything, or send an email, or use the internet in general. And please do not complain if it takes me more than a few hours to respond, this is free, so chill!

I am guessing that you are one of those hyper sensative people who don't like having your ssn on your driver's license either? Seriously get a grip and check out his website.
By the way...awesome service.. He sends out emails when the server is going down and gives alot more Customer Support then one of these other free places I am sure.
thank you!
Speaking of which Austin...can i get my login info again Being the dummy i am I never wrote down my password and reflashed my phone :-D sorry to be such a pain.
I want to retract from what i said Austin is providing an excelent service.
PROVEN!
Sorry, Austin
it's been a few days, just checking to make sure you didn't need anymore information from me to get set up.
Thanks,
Zak Deutsch
i'd be more concerned with my private and business emails being handled and stored on an unknown server.. but if you guys use your mail for fun, jump on this offer!
i sent the email a few days ago and havent recieved anything. am i doing something wrong Austin?? Should i resend??
Not trying to disrespect but what is the difference between this service and mail2web.com??
Okay guys, If you sent me an email I prob did get it! but the odds are that when i replied it got sent to your junkmail (I know yahoo does this) so check there, if you have not recieved anything from me, shoot me an instant message on here, and we can do it that way!
If you have concerns about privacy or hosting information on unknown servers, you should never, ever, ever use the internet again! even google stores the searches you make on some unknown server, and have you ever actually seen a server that host your email ? prob not. But just to reassure all of you skeptics, my server uses 128bit encryption and runs out of Richmond Virginia in a small office building.
As for whats the difference between this and mail2web, well Im assuming that you are using mail2web if you are asking this, so i will just tell you of the additional features:
1) direct push email support
2) sync with outlook web access
3) sync all contacts, events, tasks and email automatically
4) email alias addresses
there is more, but those are the main reasons that i set it up.
I have over a hundred people signed up and still going strong, so if you are intrested, registration is still open so shoot an email to [email protected] and dont forget to check out www.port88.org for more information.

I thought Mail2Web Live supported Push Email? :?:
..... being an Exchange Admin myself, exchange has been setup in my corp so that admins can read everyone's emails if need be... not that i do
Just hope you lot know this when using this service....

SMS and Exchange 2010

I've been using Exchange 2010 for a while now, all the way from beta, and one of the nicest things is it's 6.5 integration allowing you to send and view SMS's from the Outlook/OWA interfaces.
Problem is, it seems that HTC Messaging breaks this, I cant send any SMS's and they dont show up in the Outlook interfaces.
Anyone know how to get it working again? I know I can 'disable' HTC Messaging, and if needs must I'll do that, but it brings with it other issues if you do.
Anyone? there has to be a way?
Yes, yesterday I tried out to disable HTC-messaging, because SMS synching Exc2010 did not work.
And yes, after following all four steps, as described here, it did come back!
Downside so far is, you cannot write an SMS through the HTC-contact-app, so you'll have to use a different "new SMS" function, and you will not get threaded SMS view, just plain old classic view. But you still can view new SMSs in the HTC inbox of sense.
I can live with that
Yeah, that's what I used to do on the HD, however I've kinda got used to the new Messaging client on a device that can run it at least
I'll open a support case with HTC and see if they will acknowledge the problem, and see if they have an official fix. If not, it's the hassle of finding an ArcSoft that wont stuff things up as well, and back to TMail....
Just got this from HTC
At the moment this is not fully compatible. Please keep an eye on our website, I have noted the information on he new Exchange 2010 and we may indeed implement this in the future without having to hack the registry (please do not do this as it voids any Warranty and in some cases can brick the PDA). I cannot confirm if we will go ahead with this or not at the moment until I have more information.
Thank you.

I have to say a "fair play" to HTC re. this response - actually seems like someone who knows what they're talking about has looked at it (all be it probably briefly) which is a huge leap over the normal "have you tried resetting it sir?" response.
Obviously the ideal response would've been "yes we know, our guys are working on it as we speak, should be ready around Xmas time".. we can live and hope!
Probably wouldn't hurt for all of us interested in getting this working to drop them a line stating such and thus hopefully raising it up their priority list.. can someone please confirm an email address?
I've just used the standard HTC Support service through the website, I've posted a reply saying that it's a feature MS are Talking Up with the release of Exchange 2010 and WM6.5, as it is, and as it stands none of the HTC 6.5 phones will actualy work using the feature.
So let's hope...
I asked them to seriously look into it, as it's a Microsoft published feature that's being broken, and got this back seems someone at HTC (even if it is 1st line) has some common sense. Seems the Irish service center is a good one to target for problems
"Thank you for the feedback and suggestion Ashleigh, it would be a very good idea to include this feature in the future with new updates. I am going to see if this would be possible. I hope it is as I would use this as well."

Be nice to know if anyone has tried the new 1.66 firmware and tested Exchange. I am in Australia and as one carrier here is exclusive till end of March there will be no 1.66 for me for ages.
If it works. I will HSPL my device with the UK version but only if it fixes the issue. Then when warranty is needed I will tell them i had no choice as I wanted a default Windows Mobile feature back.
Unfortunately 1.66 doesn't fix this one
Just got my new SIM free HD2 and am having the same sort of problem when trying to Sync my texts via Exchange 2010.....have also contacted HTC support but guess I'll get the same answer i.e. we're looking into it.
Let's hope that enough people want to use the text sync feature and contact HTC so that they actualyl sort it.....ASAP?

I had consulted HTC a couple weeks back. Speaking to the service rep he mentioned that the developers didn't have access to an Exchange 2010 server. I found this rather odd.
Anyway as I run my OWN server I have offered to the service rep that they can have an account on my server if they wish to test with. He sounded very excited and I told him I would need time to setup an acount (and segregation from my clients). He even rang me back later that day to chase up the details. I had sent through all the info they need to for OWA and for Outlook via HTTP.
This was a couple weeks ago and early last week I received an email saying they are still working on the issue. So we will wait and see what happens.
Hey guys, any update on this?
This is a bit weird but... I have managed to get this to work fine, on 2 different ROM's so far (both Touch Pro 2's, one a T7373 and the other a T7378). To get it to work on my phone, I took my 3 SIM out, and put in an Optus SIM. On first sync, it worked. To get my mate's to work, we took his 3 SIM out, and put in an Exetel (uses Optus network) SIM. Same thing.
No idea how or why... but we all have SMS sync working properly now, can send and receive SMS via Outlook.
I've tried it yesterday and I've received a couple of SMS from the phone, but I can't send through Outlook, can send via Outlook OWA, but the messages never gets through and activesync on the phone takes 99% cpu and I have to reset the phone to get it to work again. It's frustrating.
You just send a message from Outlook and it goes to your phone via ActiveSync and sends correctly? Damn!
I've got a message from HTC support that it should work fine with the latest official ROM update, anybody can confirm?

utter despair and hatred.

I just got my new HD2 this morning, previously I had a G1.
when I ordered the HD2, i specifically asked how i should move my contacts, since the android phone stores everything on G-mail.
they guy told me to download T-MOBILE MYBACKUP.
and do the back up.. yadda yadda long story short.. it doesent work with the HD2 according to them..
so they told me to go through active sync.. and on the first screen enter a server of m.google.com.
well the first screen doesent ask for a server address, it asks for an e-mail address.. well they have no idea about that.. so they just told me to put in my g-mail address.. but stressed that it needs to be @googlemail.com not @gmail.com.. ok whatever..
next I got to the screen THAT DOES have the server which i did put m.google.com, and my gmail password. Ileft domain blank as directed.
I hit finish, it said syncing, then pops up a screen asking that I "correct my exchange server settings"
the only "settings" i know of are my user name and password, which are correct (check on PC).
their next excuse.. errr Idea is that since the phone i new i need to let it charge for 4 hours... that's right, she just blurted that out, almost like a spasm.. I told her the phone is currently ON the charger.. soo.. yea
next she says "well it still shows your on your "old" internet plan, and the new one will not take effect till tomorrow, but its a 2 to 48 hour window on that, so thats probably why it wont sync..
to which I replied "its saying the server info is not correct, what does that have to do with my data plan?"
"oh its weird how all that works, but just wait and see and if by sunday its still doing it, call us back"
I feel like a dumb guy who is also the smartest guy in the room.
The bad news: T-mo employees don't exactly know a whole lot on average when it comes to the higher-end phones in particular. They just don't have nearly enough training on them.
The good news: You've got us now, and don't have to ask them questions like that any more
our boy snarksneeze put together a great guide to syncing with your google contacts on the HD2...have a read, I think it'll get you to where you need to be:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=678339
Use Outlook on your device following these instructions. Make sure Task isn't check.
http://www.google.com/support/mobile/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=138636
The initial setup may take a couple of minutes before the download starts but it will.

forget this. your email is your google email address. if it's [email protected] then that's what you put in. forget the googlemail stuff.

E-Mail

Haven't recieved any e-mail since yesterday. I have several new emails from 2 email accounts....so I've been checking settings...funny thing is my settings are not correct for my password....there are too many characters showing in the "password" window. Example....I can change it back to what it should be (10) characters...close everything and look again an there are 4 extra characters (14). What is going on here. This is my 2nd phone. Had to send my original back. My wife is on her third phone. Something is not right about these phones. I'm this close to going back to my Blackberry.
Do not pay any mind to the number of asterisks. Number of asterisks shown does not correlate to the number of characters in your password. At least, not when you go back into that screen.
Any time one of my HD2's stops getting email, I do a soft reset (yellow button inside battery case). This usually always cures the issue.
BTW, this phone isn't the only device that shows an "incorrect" number of asterisks for a password (servers, web applications, etc.). It's a security thing. If some unauthorized person can see a correct number of asterisks, well, they can now narrow down what the password would be.
Incorrect number of asterisks is a good thing.
That makes sence. I checked the wife's and hers shows the same thing mine does. She gets the mail on hers....I don't...(same e-mail account). I set both phones up so I know it's nothing keyed in wrong. I even did a hard reset last night...redone everything...still no mail this morning....I'm about to give up!
What type of email account are you having issues with?
E-mail accounts
I was having trouble with both...AOL and a pop3 account. The AOL account started working last night. The pop3 was the one that I couldn't get to start working. I tried it from computers and it worked..just didn't receive anything on the phone....but I am glad to report that I am now receiving all my email from both accounts! I don't know what happened....but they are working now. Thanks for the help guys...I appreciate it.
