[TOOLKIT] Universal Paranoid Android(PA) Porter[ICS/JB] - Android Software Development

Tool Aces Present..
Universal PA Porter
About the tool:
This tool can be used to port the great Paranoid Android ROMs from any device. It's based on the guide of adityalahiri13. Thank him too.
How to use:
Make sure you that both the ROMs(Base and PA) have the same resolution. I recommend taking CM as base. Also make sure that the android versions of base and PA ROM matches. Try to use port from a device of same manufacturer, though it may not matter much.
Steps-
1. Place base ROM zip in CM folder.
2. Place PA ROM zip in PA folder.
3. Now click on Main.bat the tool will do some steps.
4. After this it will ask for your device resolution. Choose one among 5.
5. Then it will open build.prop and another file. Copy the lines from another text file to the build.prop below ro.modversion= and write the PA version you are porting infront of ro.pa.version=
6. Save and exit.
7. Now it will open updater-script and another file. Copy the line from another file and paste it to your updater-script below this line:
Code:
set_perm(1000, 1000, 0644, "/system/etc/paranoid/properties.conf");
8. Then it will ask for your android version. Choose ICS or JB, then it will zip the ROM, select name as desired and find your ROM in /PORT folder.
Congrats on your newly ported ROM.

FAQs:
Q. Well I ported this accordingly but it's stuck in bootloop. How to solve it?
A. In some cases this happens. Simply run bootloop.bat and see if it works. If it still doesn't works then run bootloop2.bat. Make sure to check if the ROM boots after running bootloop.bat, if still stuck on bootloop then only run bootloop2.bat
Q. Why you recommend porting from same manufaturer?
A. Well you can port from others also but in some of them you might need some framework modding and also need to do some modding in kernel. But in most cases even from other manufacturers the ROM should work.
Q. How can I help?
A. Pressing THANKS button would be enough.

If the tool isn't running at all for you guys, you are either trying to run the .bat file from within the zip, or you extracted the zip file wrong.
Extract the zip with Winrar.
Just right click the file and select "Extract Files..." than click OK.
I haven't tried porting this yet but the tool itself works just fine.

Extract files to just to short path, for example to "c:\porting\" or "d:\porting\".
This problem shows when .bat is deep in folder.

I am really excited for this tool. THANKS
I extracted the files and attempted to run the tool, but it closes after CM and PA are extracted. Is there something I am doing wrong. I have a Maguro (GSM Galaxy Nexus). Base ROM = CM10.1 (4/22) and Port ROM = PA 3.16 (4/16). After ROMS are extracted, the tool closes. Tool is located in G: Porter

stuck in bootloop....damn man.....the PA logo just goes on and on

I redownloaded and it runs through completely without errors
- it skips the build.prop prompt though
The Bootloop.bat runs smoothly
The Bootloop2.bat always gives me "file not found"
I have not successfully booted a ROM, but its working for me

(GUIDE) How To S-Off and ROOT Aria 2.2.2

Thanks to AlphaRev Team we can now S-Off the Aria(Removes Security Flag)
**This is for any Aria either shipped with or upgraded to 2.2.2 Firmware**
For an alternative guide check out post #84 by zervic in THIS Thread
Requirements you must have:
*All Drivers installed on Windows PC (See Aria Superthread)
*Aria S/W v2.2.2 (either from the Update RUU or Factory Shipped)
***WARNING*** Installing the Aria Update RUU will format the phone. Any info not backed up will be lost. SD Card is not affected
---If you have ClockworkMod installed you can make a Nandroid backup which can be restored later
*HBOOT 1.02 (installs with the Update RUU)
Difficulty Level= Medium/Some experience required
How To S-Off
-If you have s/w version 2.1 or Custom ROM follow installation instructions for Un-Rooting in the Aria Superthread
if needed: Download ATT Aria Shipping ROM 2.2.2
1- Make sure USB Debugging is checked in Applications/Development
2- Go to Revolutionary Website and click "Download For Windows". a form will pop up which we will fill out later
3- Save file to PC and keep web page open
4- Plug in phone with data cable then run downloaded program Alpharevx.exe

Install Clockwork Recovery
Download CWM 2.5.0.1 OR CWM 2.5.1.7 Off-Mode(no annoying recovery screen while charging)
Download Android Flasher
1- Extract Clockwork Recovery.zip to folder
2- Connect Phone with data cable then Run Android Flasher
3- Check box "Recovery" and click Begin
4- Navigate to Clockwork Recovery folder extracted earlier and select "Recovery.img" click Open
Once complete the phone will boot into recovery
If you made a Nandroid backup before running AlphaRevX it can now be restored
NOTE: you may also install CWM using ADB command, but this is much quicker

Just wanted to point out that this step is OPTIONAL. This will allow you to acquire root with your default, stock ROM. However, if you intend to install a custom ROM (Cyanogenmod, Liberated, etc.) then you should just skip this step entirely and go straight to installing the ROM of your choice.
Sweet write up! If I'm not busy this weekend, I may take a jab at it. Thanks duder.
Finally, a well done step by step writeup, that pulls all of the pieces together along with the necessary links.
Well done.
Thanks
Thank you for the comments guys!!
@drumist thanks for pointing that out. this was explained in the guide i made on other forums. fixed it here now
@cHarley04 the download for 2.2 RUU is linked in the Aria Superthread, which is linked in the first step on how to S-Off
maybe i will include the direct link for simplicity
I was just about to do this and went to alpharevs sight and the windows download link is replaced with, "windows version is under review, sorry". Noooo! I'm off today, kids and wife are asleep and my little little aria almost saw the future. Oh well, next weekend hopefully that puppys up and running. I know there's a Linux download link but I like sticking to what I always use, sucky windows.

got excited at the first sight
but...
Yeah I would have no idea how to run a virtual linux instance so I could do this... hopefully AlphaRev gets the windows version cleared soon, so I can root and use wifi hotspot.

open up the clockworkrecovery rar with winrar or a program like it and youll see a file that says recovery.img that's the file you'll want to extract into the adb folder with the fastboot.exe

This is specifically for, 2.2.2
The first step in the process, is to upgrade to 2.2.2 if you don't have it.
If you already have 2.2.2, you just skip that step.

let me ask 1 more way so that I am not mis-understanding..
if my wife took the OTA update from AT&T and it upgraded her phone to 2.2.2 which put the security in place preventing you from rooting this will allow me to undo that?
sorry for the extra question

@bkeaver, yes the guide is for factory phones with 2.2(same as OTA update), and for those who want to upgrade from 2.1 using the 2.2 update RUU.
pretty sure it says that in the guide, but i will check and make adjustments for clarity if needed
Edited first post. also please take special attention to anything posted in RED

[I9000][Heimdall][Jan.30.2012] Firmware packages for stock ROMs

Heimdall firmware packages for stock GT-I9000 firmwares
Heimdall 1.3 included support for "Heimdall Firmware Packages," an XML-driven way to define, create, and distribute firmwares. This is a powerful tool for ROM developers, but I haven't seen it being used yet. In order to encourage and support the use of these new firmware packages, I've packaged up a few stock Samsung firmwares for use with Heimdall.
For those that don't know, Heimdall is an open-source, cross-platform tool written by Benjamin Dobell which can flash complete ROMs, kernels, modems, etc to Samsung Galaxy S devices. It's preferable over Odin as its source code is open and it is therefore undergoing public development, and we can review the code. In comparison, Odin is a closed-source, Windows-only internal Samsung utility, and what we know very little about it.
Downloads
These are stock ROMs, just as you'd find on Samfirmware or wherever else. I have not modified them other than unpacking and repacking for flashing with Heimdall (meaning they are odexed). If the upstream firmware includes bootloaders, I've included them*. I'll do my best to indicate additional information next to each ROM.
Gingerbread:
XXJVQ (2.3.4): MultiUpload
XXJVR (2.3.4): MultiUpload
XXJVS (2.3.5): MultiUpload / BayFiles
XXJVT (2.3.5): MultiUpload
XWJVZ (2.3.6): MultiUpload, BayFiles / MediaFire (md5sum: dbfcb621f666b224751a3bd2bf9abbba)
XXJVU (2.3.6): BayFiles (md5sum: ede04385b889651c31ce669044ec5ee6)
*Note: Even though I've included bootloaders you'll be able to remove them in Heimdall's GUI right before flashing if you so please.
Froyo:
XWJSD (2.2.1): MirrorCreator - thanks Motthat
Credits...
Thanks to Benjamin Dobell for writing Heimdall. Thanks to [Ramad] for the idea of listing unadulterated stock ROMs. Thanks to Supercurio for being a role model of openness and transparency. We need more pro-community devs.

Make sure you've installed Heimdall version 1.3 or higher. Do not unzip the firmware package, we open it up directly in the heimdall frontend graphical user interface! This procedure will wipe your device and you will lose all your installed applications.

Step 2: Load the downloaded tar.gz into Heimdall

Ok, cool. I thought it might be useful to have some Froyo packages around. I've added it, thanks!
You are both legendy legends from the land of the legendary legend people! I was beginning to get beside myself with frustration - no matter how hard I tried I simply couldn't get kies/samsung drivers installed ON ANYTHING - I tried about 4 different Win7 x64 machines, a 2008R2 and even a Vista x86 and NONE of them would get me a working install. I inherently mistrust odin and when I saw heimdall (so I could run it on Linux) I was just over the moon. Not having any heimdall-native packages though, I got pretty frustrated and ended up soft-bricking my phone at about 2am this morning . So after arriving after a long day at work I was very happy to see some packages finally get released and what's more - my phone was back up and running from the death-screen in under 10 minutes!
So now I can experiment with lots of funky ROMs and I know I'll always be able to get my I9000 back again!
You both rock.

Yes, we're really lucky that this phone is so robust and the bootloaders are open. As long as download mode is working you can resurrect your phone (and even sometimes when download mode isn't working)!
Thanks for these man, it really is the best way to flash everything, pity it isn't as widely used as it should be! Keep it up
First of all thank you!
Kies for Mac was really harassing me for such a long time nor I could using Odin on Parallels.
After playing with some roms and messing up my device (Samsung Galaxy S)I was happy to come back to an official release.

Hi,
Do you know what can be this error, i installed heimdall and frontend, downloaded tar.gz files from this post, and i get "Failed to open package:
/home/jtextori/Téléchargements/XXJVQ_heimdall.tar.gz" ??
Thanks
If you root it you must reflash the orginal KERNEL
Don't know if it is what you mean, but moving the file into a directory without accentuated characters allowed to load the file into heimdall-frontend ! it was that simple !
Thx soo much for the job! and also thx for the heimdall developper. happy to can do a flash to my galaxy phone from my mac.

Isnt our phone a bit too small to also have onscreen buttons
Though even I would love to see this as an option in settings.
Thanks, my back button stopped working a couple months back. I couldn't enable softkeys on hephappy's build, so you saved my day!
But I believe it is too wide, it screwed a bit my homescreen. I read somewhere (don't remember, sorry) that it should be 36 pxls in height.
hope it helps
thanks!

Yeah even I have a problem with the back button.
Does this work with lupo's test build?
Im getting bootloops :/
Edit
Im getting bootloop even on flashing the remove...zip :-(
Luckily I had manually backed up my own framework-res.apk. Can you please make a flashable zip for it(attached)?

Never mind that zip. I restored my framework-res using android commander(it lets u manipulate system files using pc) but it still wont boot
I had initially tried to replace the frameres app manually using root browser(first deleting the orig one after backing up) that might have caused the prob.
I am getting bootloops whatever I do
Why did I not backup my rom before trying this :'(

Im using lupo's testing kang..
Let me explain the whole thing that happened...
1.I used root browser in rom manager to manually backup the framework-res.apk
2.I deleted the my orig framework-res.apk(yeah that was stupid)
3.The phone started giving me weird errors but root browser was still open.
4.When I tried to copy the framres from ur zip it gave me an error that the memory was full(and arnd half the file was copied).
5.I by mistake closed the root browser(I wanted to check storage from stock app manager).
After that nothing would open..opening any app would give an error.
6.I rebooted my phone but it got stuck at the lg screen.
7.I removed and reinserted the battery and booted into recovery.
8.Flashed your zip from recovery.
Thereafter my phone is getting stuck at bootloop whatever I do

Hmm so you have to do a clean install now.
But before that make your nandroids backup with TWRP recovery
Then install the rom and then restore only /data from nandroid backup
In this way you wont lose any of your data, setting etc.

[TUT][N,O] WIFI region code Fix for RR , Carbon(Roms based on it) and cypherOS

Hello Guy today I want to teach you how to fix WiFi region code problem on Nought and Oreo roms
FIX FOR NOUGHT ROMS AND OREO ROMS(ONLY FOR BUILDS BEFORE 19/1/2018)(NOT FOR cypherOS)
If you are on builds after 19/1/2018 or cypherOS go down ; there is a way with xposed to fix the problem
reqierments :
1. knowing how decompile .jar files (you can use This tool)
2. notepad ++(for editing some files)
3. "telephony-common.jar" from rom (you can find it in "system -> framwork)
4. framwork-res.apk of rom (you can find it in "system -> framwork)(the process may work without it)
** if you see this mark on TUT it means "if you use the tool that is on first requierments"
Steps :
1. install the "framework-res.apk" for apktool (** copy it to "in" folder of tool
then choose " 1 " and choose the "framwork-res.apk" of rom)
2. decompile the "telephony-common.jar" file and go the folder of the decompiled file (** copy the file to "in" folder open the tool and choose " 2 " then choose the "telephony-common.jar" and continue the process to complete decompile and then you can find the folder of decompiled file in "out" folder)
3. After you go to the folder of decompiled file go to " smail -> com -> android -> internal -> telephony " then search for " MccTable " and open it with "notepad ++"
4. on " notepad ++ " search for " setWifiCountryCode " and you will find three lines with it
go to first line
under it you will see " .locals 5 " change it to " .locals 13 "
( as you can see in picture )
first line
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
then go to second line
go a little upper and found (here is .line 199)(but the line number may change duo to rom)
:cond_1
Click to collapse
and change the line below of it to
goto :goto_0
Click to collapse
( as you can see in picture )
second line
there is no need to touch the third line
5. save the file and close " notepad ++ "
6. now recompile the file (** choose " 3 " to recompile the file and choose "telephony-common.jar" and then press NUM "4" option (Recompile, Sign And Then Zipalign)and continue the process to complete recompile )
6.1 ( ** you can find the file on " done " folder)
7. after the recompile completed copy the file to your phone
8. on your phone replace old " telephony-common.jar " with the new one and set permissions and reboot phone
P.S. after the reboot the phone may not boot at the first time (dont worry) just force shutdown your phone ( by press and holding "power button" and "volume up" and phone will vibrate 3 times ) then turn on your phone again
and you will see the problem of region code is gone :good:
FIX FOR all Nought and OREO BUILDS (LOS & RR & CARBON & CYPHER OS)
first of all thanks to @ali6944 for finding this xposed modules
you just need xposed for it and install this modules then active it and reboot your phone and problem is gone :good:
Cool to see it nicely put in an easy to follow format, Good job!:highfive:
I have done exactly what you did with the same tool, but only in step 6 when recompiling, I am getting four options :
Recompile "telephony-common.jar"
1 - Only Recompile
2 - Recompile And Then Sign
3 - Recompile And Then Zipalign
4 - Recompile, Sign And Then Zipalign
I chose the first one and I got the file in "done" folder but in zip format like this telephony-common.zip
I changed the extension to .jar and copied it to phone, replaced the old one and gave permissions, powered off the device (force shut down) and turned it on but I didn't get a working WIFI, I am on RR 5.8.5 BTW, thanks for the help.. hope you can reply soon..

yes you are right i have forgot to say anything about that four option
i choose " 4 " ( Recompile, Sign And Then Zipalign )
and i dont know why it was in zip format
and another thing is i did this for carbon rom which has no option to change wifi region code i dont know if it works on RR
BTW try again with the NUM 4 option and if it didnt worked send the telephony-common.jar file to me to see what can i do
I got it working for RR using this..

After doing exactly as you showed, but instead of recompiling using this tool I recompiled the file using the APKTOOK that was installed previously on my computer using this command (after opening CMD in the out folder)
Code:
apktool b -f -d telephony-common.jar
after that I copied the output file from the dist folder (telephony-common.jar\dist) and replaced it with permissions and it worked perfectly (RR 5.8.5), thanks for helping and keep it up for more tutorials :highfive:

It's because the rom is not deodexed, I've spent a lot of time searching for a way to deodex and found out that android 8.1 moved to .vdex instead of .odex so there isn't yet a way to deodex to apply this fix, you can learn more about this here: https://github.com/JesusFreke/smali/issues/498

For linux you can use this: https://github.com/anestisb/vdexExtractor
for windows: https://github.com/Furniel/Apk-Changer
i successfully deodexed the whole framework but there's something wrong!
if you removed oat and arm folders then flashed the deodexed framework you will enjoy with the lovely bootloop, if you flashed without removing oat and arm folders it's fine but not effects for any modded jars!! so basically the deodexed framework is useless!!
here is the file which you need already deodexed and patched and if you find anyway to get it working please let me know because i miss some mods since the latest build

You are absolutely right, also it's a universal thing with all the new 8.1 roms, even the Pixel phone OTAs have it so a lot of effort is being but into this right now, I'll keep trying, I'm even using the latest build of carbon right now, it's a bit inconvenient having to reboot the phone every time you disconnect from WiFi, but this motivates me to try even further!
@rocker00 can you try installing vdex extractor, you can find it compiled and ready here:

This is not an app to install, it's like command line, also it doesn't make any sense to try this because the tool i mentioned for windows also based on vdexextractor, it's just implemented for windows.
now am confused more and more, i flash deodexed patched services.jar (aka superuser mod) and it worked! then i tried to remove services.vdex from oat/arm and it worked also!! so why it worked with or without .vdex from oat/arm and the other mods based on arm folder doesn't work and if you removed boot-......vdex for any jar you will have bootloop!!

now am confused more and more, i flash deodexed patched services.jar (aka superuser mod) and it worked! then i tried to remove services.vdex from oat/arm and it worked also!! so why it worked with or without .vdex from oat/arm and the other mods based on arm folder doesn't work and if you removed boot-......vdex for any jar you will have bootloop!!

here is a thread that i found helpful: https://forum.xda-developers.com/pi...lly-deodex-stock-oreo-systemui-t3685034/page3
It seems like even the gods of deodexing are having the same issues, you can deodex pretty much anything including services.jar, but you can't touch any other framework file without causing a bootloop, if i got the conclusion right then i think we need to wait for jesusfreake to update smali and backsmali to support vdex

Yeah, the latest post in the thread you mentioned exactly the same issue i have, looks like we are out of luck now!
I can't believe I forgot about this, but while I was looking for a fix for nougat months ago I found this xposed module that fixes the issue, but since I got WiFi working before that, I totally forgot about it, I just tried it with the latest Carbon rom and it works! Can't believe it was right there for so long
