Go into Faux thread in development and download the reset kernel.

I would recommend trying out the Halfbreed kernel, colours are so much better than stock. Contrasty was a bit too strong for me as well, but Halfbreed is perfect. Anyway, if you still want to go to the stock kernel then the answer is above.

Hi @scream4cheese wanted to know if this is the stock 4.2.2 JDQ39 kernel and if it is flashable through TWRP?
Thanks a lot.

A question about ROMs and Kernels

Ok, so I've rooted and flashed rasbeanjelly from the nexus4root(dot)com website.
I've set everything up, down loaded apps I want etc, however I've heard that trinity kernel is very good with this ROM, if I'm wrong and there's a better kernel correct me. So how do I install the kernel? Same way I did the ROM? Is it compatible? Do I have to wipe everything? Is there a better kernel to use?
Thanks a lot for reading.

Just flash the .zip in recovery, no need to wipe anything. There's no 'best' kernel so your question about better kernels could easily get 20 different replies.
Ok thanks for your reply, what about compatibility? I've heard that if ROMs and kernels aren't compatible it can brick your phone

As long as the kernel and ROM you download are for the N4 it should be perfectly fine. In the future with new releases of Android there may be some issues, but devs usually make it pretty clear in the OP what you risk by flashing your phone.

Franco kernel updater not working with 4.3

For some reason I can't get color profiles to work on any 4.3 roms? Has anyone gotten it to work? Thanks in advance

that would be best asked in the franco kernel thread.

Are you using franco.Kernel? If that's the case, which version? The current r173 nightly is only for JWR66V (the OTA). It won't work properly with any current ROM.

Kernel question

Hello guys,
Iam new to the Nexus 4 forums. I have experience with other phones with flashing etc. I have a couple of questions:
I flash a kernel(zip) after I flash a ROM. That seems to me the right way. The flashing seems going right but after restarting the phone somewhat stutters, its no lag or something like that.
Iam running PA with now the regular kernel but when I flash Franco or Neo kernel it happens.
Anybody a idea what i am doing wrong?

For PA use jwr kernels. Not jss. Neo and Franco both have two versions. Jss and jwr.

There's also this zip which allows Jss kernels to be used in jwr roms.

You can always extract the boot.img from the factory image. That will give you the unrooted kernel. Then you can simply flash the superSU binaries again to get the stock but rooted kernel.
Link to factory images for Nexus: developers<dot>google<dot>com/android/nexus/images?hl=fr-FR
Hope this helps!
Is there not a zip for the stock kernel?

I presumed from your signature that you would care about the kernel for the Nexus 5. And so, yes, it's for the Nexus 5.

My apologies. I also have 2012 nexus 7. I wanted a stock kernel for it.

Ok. So they aren't the same as kernels are "always" device specific since they work at hardware level (well...almost!). And on cursory examination, I couldn't find any flashable "kernel" zips. So for now your best bet seems the option that I originally suggested. Try it, it's not too hard/big!
Hope this is helpful!

Hi, treIII...
If you can copy the stock boot.img/kernel (extracted from factory stock - see link in my sig) to your Nexus 7, you can use the flashify app (see below), to flash it directly from the Nexus 7 itself... although you will need to be rooted.
