Whenever the storage in my 8gb Nexus 7 goes below 500mb , the insufficient storage notification will be displayed and will not go away unless I free up more space.
Any way to get rid of this hindrance ?

Clear up more space and don't let it get low again. You can't do anything about limited storage space.

I was just wondering what the internal 16gb memory is used for. I haven't changed any storage settings yet, but it seems like most of my 2gb sd is used up (probably from apps), while the internal storage is mostly unused.
Also, my wife's vibrant shows 223mb free space (ram I'm guessing) while mine shows around 140, with less apps installed and no programs running according to atk. What could be making the difference?
Thanks!

Your apps have 2GB of space on the 16GB of internal. The rest is for pictures and such. Some apps will store their cache there as well. The external would be for like movies and music, at least that's what i use mine for.

Looking in my Settings>Storage and Applications, I am being told I have 15gb of Apps. This can't be as I only have about 80apps installed.
Anyone have any idea about this.
Thanks.
Reboot and see what happens. Sure its not 15 gigabyte free?

Thanks for the suggestion but it is now 17.22gb used by Applications.
I suspect something is just filling up the space. I have a 32gb Iconia and a 32gb SD card.
After a bit more digging using DiskUsage App, it appears that in the /mnt/sdcard I have 17,779mb of System Data somehow!!
Any help much appreciated.
Something funky for sure, since even if all 16gb were free, it would of course be less than 16gb total. Out of box, the A500 has 12.5gb or so free, but 1gb can not be used due to Honeycomb's sucky memory management.
I see my phone says that its 8 GB on the storage page, but then why does only 4GB show up as useable? Is there any way to change this also is there a way to install apps to SD card?
As far as I know only the dev edition with an unlocked bootloader will free that 4 gigs up. The retail RAZR m has the internal memory partitioned. 4gig for the OS and 4 gig for user app storage.

So APPS2SD isnt working on retail one?
I haven't had any luck with an app for moving apps. I've just shuffled them with root browser.

The way motorola set up the storage directories tricks app data to be placed on the internal storage. Its named sdcard. Then you got sdcard1 which is your actual sdcard. Its easy to move your music, pics, videos or movies onto the sdcard. However large amounts of additional game data is installed in internal. Should you move the data to sdcard1, the games won't detect them (with bards tale being the only exception). Moto did this on purpose to get you to buy their other droid with slight hardware improvements and larger storage areas. Now, to truly move data to the sdcard, you will need to gain root and install an app called directory bind. Which allows you to move data over to the actual sdcard using directory path manipulation.
IIRC its the norm to store data on internal sd in android... Not just a Motorola marketing scheme

Hey, I got a strange issue. My Available space is 1.57gb although I should have 6gb+.
Even when I got to Storage I see a big free space in the graph, but available space shows 1.57gb
Attached a screenshot.
I got CM10.1 official installed.
Any idea?
Thanks
What available space does root explorer or similar show?

Shows the same.

Hello everyone
Sorry for my last post. I didn't attach pic in that. Here it is. My model has 8gb space. Apps and files take only 4gb. And alloted space is 4.7gb for this. As a result I get storage space minimum notification constantly. So can anyone tell me where the remaining space is and is it possible to shift some space to storage
Thank you

There is 8gb there, but it's partitioned into about 4gb each. One for the OS and the other for media. So, you'll only be able to utilize 4gb for app storage.
Thanks for the reply. Is there any way to reduce the space alloted to OS?

Have you cleaned your app cache? I was getting low and was amazed how much space I gained. You can do it app by app or download something like this: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.gannicus.android.cacheclearer
