[Q] Menu & Back Button - Galaxy Y GT-S5360 and Duos 6102 Q&A, Help & Troubl

Any idea how to lessen the lag or delay of the Menu and Back Button?
They say its one of the problem that users find in a Samsung Mobile.
And I frequently experience it on my phone, quite annoying though.

first update your andoid then use stock rom.....

If you want it more responsive.. remove screen guard, prevent making phone including buttons to get wet, prevent phone from falling to a rough surface.

I'm using a stock ROM. I tried replacing my screen guard its a bit responsive now.
Thanks guys.

i'm using a screenguard, and i've got no problems at all, screen and buttons are just as responsive as they where before.

using screen guard will not affect this in any way... well does it affect ur screen touch sensitivity? ?
@op I personally was experiencing this long long back about 6 months ago... and it was because of the rom. Or kernel I believe ... then I switched to a different kernel and it works fine no problems.... the stock kernel too has the problem ... I guess it doesn't allow enough power supply to those buttons..
So I suggest switching kernel...
Again screen guard doesn't affect this and don't simply make people remove screen guards :banghead::banghead:

Theres nothing wrong with your screen guard or the phone, ive had that prob, usually on those keys, on d screen guard there is usually oil from the skin or dust or some foreign residue, so dont kill your phone, either u wipe the keys with a cloth or simply sleep the phone then waken it back if the former option fails

The fact is that everyone blvs that it everything about hardware. No .. Its not. Remvng the screen card doent make any imprvmnt in sensitivity of a sensor .
Just test your phone hardware using *#0*# . You can evaluate your hardware. If your back key respond intervly , then it is due to your rom..since the rom breaks to sync the signals from the key.

HD2 is a large phone , so everytime I want to press the hardware buttons , I have to reposition my hand and the buttons are kinda hard to press as well.I'm having wrist pain from pressing the back and home button on the HD2. Does anyone know any virtual or on screen back button apps ?

Which is very awesome because its easy to pull it out of your jeans without much work. and with the kickstand battery cover its awesome too. plus you want the harware call, back button, so when u get a call in winter times outside you wont have to pull ur hands out of your jeans

Realistically, I don't think an onscreen back button would be a very easy app to code.
It would have to show over every screen, so a stationary widget wouldn't suffice, and worse yet, it would have to show over every app, which would be even tougher.
Consider that there are like a hundred alarm clock apps in the market, and maybe four of them work properly all the time, and of those four, three of them probably use so much system resources that they slow your phone down and drain the battery.
Maybe an exaggeration, but theres alot of truth in it.
We would all probably be better off buying a couple spare sets of hard keys, and somebody write a real good tut on how to replace them, than to hold our breath for an onscreen back button
To answer the original poster's question:
Well.... it depends on what you're trying to accomplish with the back button.
If you're main concern is going back and forth between views in a single app, or overall use of the back button I suggest some key remapping.
If you are right handed, the back button might indeed be uncomfortable to press one handed. But if you switch it with the home key or the green key, you might get less sore, since your hand won't have to move so awkwardly. Of course, the pictures on the buttons wouldn't match their function (which bothers some) but it's an idea nonetheless.
Another, perhaps more intriguing remap idea would be to remap the volume down key to be a back key (you can always use a widget for real volume control.)
If you're only concerned about app switching, I suggest trying the app "Smart Taskbar (sidebar)" from the market. That might help you. It has an on-screen dot that you press to open a list of apps, shortcuts, etc. That way you don't have to use as many physical buttons to navigate between apps.
Anyway, in conclusion, if I were in your situation, I'd remap volume down to be the back button. Here is a thread that helps with remapping.
A few other threads on basically the same topic, but due to many people's HD2 hardware buttons failing due to excessive use from Andriod. Software buttons are the answer to this, but nothing has come out yet.
Hi, sorry for my english level.
I am looking for a virtual/on screen back button (I think that the physical back button is cheap - endurance problems ?).
I don't want to create a new topic... do you have information ? I don't find it in this topic.
Thx in advance
Is it virtual next and previous buttons ? Thx.

[Q] Keypad LED Control

Hi there.
I`m new in the Android Roms, came from WM 6.5 and 7 and now I´m testing NAND Adroid (currently Mdeejay V7, Gingerbread). So far almost everything works great.
In Win 6.5 there was an app called "Keypad LED Control". With this app, you could have the Keypad light automatically switched on while the touchscreen is on.
Im looking for a similar App for Android (Gingerbread) but havent found anything like that in the market or the forum, anyone has an idea?
Same here, I've been searching for a similar app for quite a while, still without success. Thank you in advance if anyone finds an app like this.
Hmmm, i really doubt that nobody has a workaround for that...

me too, it would be great
Don't know, maybe most users find it comfortable enough to click the hardware keys in the dark when the backlight is off, I personally do not.
To tell the truth, I'm surprised that so few of us need an app to control that.
Yap its annoying rhat i cant see may buttons in dark
Its would be great if that app are used like automatic screen light
....in dark its on and at light its off

I don't know if it'll work with your rom but you can try AdjBrightness from the market. it has the opition to lock button backlight on or off.
if you know what NAND is you should know where are the keys by heart
however it would be nice to have an app like that!!!
I would like to confirm that the program 'adjbrightness' work as said in the post before. You have an option to keep the keypad on while the screen is on or off and many settings for brightness. To access these settings press the windows key and go to options and change away. By the way, its free from the android market! By the way im running MDJ's Froyo 4.6!

It works for me! I was searching for the same thing... Perfect
I found that program very unpredictable. Sometimes it worked perfectly, but then other times the button lights just wouldn't turn off, or the wouldn't turn on when you pressed them.
Seems like a great idea, but just a bit buggy at the minute.

Can't touch bottom of screen

Well, I'm running the latest CM10.1 Nightly, and no other mods. For some reason, in some apps I can't touch things at the bottom of the screen. For instance, in Snapseed, I can't apply an edit, because it doesn't let me touch it. Also, in the messages app it takes forever to get the keyboard to come up. Does anyone else have this problem? Is it a CM10 thing? TIA!
So, I flashed the Google Official ROM, and still the problem persists. Going to fully unroot and see if it fixes itself.

Could I please get some opinions? This is getting very annoying. It only seems to happen in apps, because I can access the app drawer and docked apps fine. I flashed the stock ROM, and un-rooted but the problem is still here. Any help?
Go into developer options. There should be an option for Pointer Location. Turn that on, and scribble all over the area you're having touch problems with. See if it is even registering your touches.

while in that same area.. another option is z-device test. go to screen and menu key to perform sensitivity tests and such. if you dont have a menu key in the navbar... it will not work.

It would seem to be a software issue, where the launcher believes you are touching the nav bar so ignores input, that'd be my guess.
Try a different launcher maybe?
Another weird discovery. It seems that if I swipe over the dead-zone fast enough, it registers. That leads me to believe that it's a software problem, but after flashing stock ROM, un-rooting, and relocking I don't see how it could be. This is weird.

The app is not closing you just sent it to work in background . Just hold the home button and you'll see the app in recents view. And change the interval of screen timeout for at least 1 min.
About battery drain change the governor of the kernel.
Install from playstore Nofrills cpu to change the governor as conservative .
You'll not notice any lag in games or apps .

Center zone of the touchscreen is dead to finger. MOST WEIRD WORKAROUND EVER.

I have a new Galaxy Note 4 instantly updated to Lollipop 5.0.1 and the very center zone of the screen is literally dead to finger touch, the right edge of the screen is dead too I have some register: (I did reboot, soft reset and hard reset already, didnt work)

Now comes the weirdest thing ever (or maybe its common, I am not expert), but when I place a finger in the edge of the phone (not even the screen edge, just over the metallic edge, like just grabing the phone with one hand), the center zone of the touchscreen works fine and the problem is solved, but the right edge is still with problems, and it is not solved with this strange "finger in the edge" workaround, look :
(If I place other finger in the screen instead of the metallic edge, it solves the problem too)

UNREAL !!!!! that fixed this problem for me !!! CANT BELIEVE IT
I tought your solution was for rooted phones with custom OS, unbelievable
THANK YOU !!!!!
Do you have (or someone) some kind of insight about this problem ?? what cause it ? this could happen again ?
The only time I have seen this happen, is when the wrong recovery has been flashed after rooting.
Maybe an OTA update caused the problem.

Just purchased the phone was with KitKat and I updated to Lollipop first day via OTA, maybe that caused the problem (but I think everyone did that, why me? bad luck xD)

Did the upgrade to Marshmallow a couple of weeks ago on my Optus SM-910G (build number MMB29M.N910GDTU1DPF4), and ever since the whole bottom of the screen was nearly useless, requiring multiple presses to get keys registered, Swype was useless, stock keyboard pretty useless, but with the s-pen, it was perfect. When I opened an s-note action memo and zig zagged from top to bottom of screen (by finger) without taking my finger off the screen, I found two dead areas, 1/3 down top left where it didn't really harm much, and a big big zone on the bottom about 10mm high and nearly the whole bottom section where it required multiple swipes across to get some of the area "drawn" on. I tried a factory reset with no improvement at all (except battery life LOL).
Just found this TSP tip today on another forum, gave it a shot, and yay, screen perfect again! Thanks XDA (the tip ending up on androidcentral in an S6 thread where my googling about Note 4 touch screen problems took me for some reason).
