Hi there.
I`m new in the Android Roms, came from WM 6.5 and 7 and now I´m testing NAND Adroid (currently Mdeejay V7, Gingerbread). So far almost everything works great.
In Win 6.5 there was an app called "Keypad LED Control". With this app, you could have the Keypad light automatically switched on while the touchscreen is on.
Im looking for a similar App for Android (Gingerbread) but havent found anything like that in the market or the forum, anyone has an idea?
Same here, I've been searching for a similar app for quite a while, still without success. Thank you in advance if anyone finds an app like this.
Hmmm, i really doubt that nobody has a workaround for that...

Searching it too

me too, it would be great
Don't know, maybe most users find it comfortable enough to click the hardware keys in the dark when the backlight is off, I personally do not.
To tell the truth, I'm surprised that so few of us need an app to control that.
Yap its annoying rhat i cant see may buttons in dark
Its would be great if that app are used like automatic screen light
....in dark its on and at light its off

I don't know if it'll work with your rom but you can try AdjBrightness from the market. it has the opition to lock button backlight on or off.
if you know what NAND is you should know where are the keys by heart
however it would be nice to have an app like that!!!
I would like to confirm that the program 'adjbrightness' work as said in the post before. You have an option to keep the keypad on while the screen is on or off and many settings for brightness. To access these settings press the windows key and go to options and change away. By the way, its free from the android market! By the way im running MDJ's Froyo 4.6!

Thx, I will give it a try and post if it works
It works for me! I was searching for the same thing... Perfect
I found that program very unpredictable. Sometimes it worked perfectly, but then other times the button lights just wouldn't turn off, or the wouldn't turn on when you pressed them.
Seems like a great idea, but just a bit buggy at the minute.

Ehm how does this work for you? I tried it, set the option to lock backlight, which makes backlight turn on. After exiting the app, turning off the screen, and back on ... everything is as usual. Backlights don't stay on :-(

if you currently use MDJ V7,Gingerbread (CyanogenMod) then
Settings->CyanogenMod settings->User interface->Automatic backlight->"Light Level"->"Use Custom"->"Edit other levels"
Set buttons > 0 until 255, Save and Apply.
Thx! Doesn't work for me yet. I made these settings :

As I have the Mdeejay Cyanogen Mod, I tried the suggested settings, exactly like m1xm4ster posted above, unfortunately this is also not working for me ;( even after rebooting the system
Aah thx..cyanogenmod ftw

1) Run the WM6.1-131to96dpi cab file
2) when it asks for you to restart, do not restart.
3) Run CeleCMD, and click the "..." button.
4) Go to Menu, Browse Folder, and select the folder where you put the dpi.ccs file.
5) Now you will see the dpi file, and then go ahead and run it.

Clock on CHome CClock page does not display correctly shows as 7:28000
any way to fix this? Using win mo 6.1 as well.
Just Change the settings for your clock to 2400 hours instead of PM and AM.
what does this do?
can anyone tell me what this does? thanks a lot for the info
Love it, except for the signal and battery meters on top
Has anybody else noticed that, when in a screen other than the homescreen (I'm using the colored iconbar plugin from Rinku), the signal, battery, and message icons on the top bar appear as only white boxes? Also, the comm manager doesn't work right, none of the "buttons" glow and I can only choose the phone one by pressing the number 1. Pressing 2, 3, 4, etc don't appear to do anything...
Is there a way to fix this?
I REALLY want to keep the 96dpi running. It looks really nice, and improves my homescreen real estate.
Anyone figure out a way to fix this?
GREAT tweak, other than those minor bugs...
THanks for your work!!

DPI usually mean Dots per inch, which is another way to describe resolution. i'd say to check out the excalibur forum for the full story... i'm abotu to myself
EDIT:
pudgedaddy said:
...basically this works similarly to increasing your screen resolution on your PC.(minus the actual resolution changing) meaning it fits more stuff on your devices display since it shrinks down what is placed on your screen.

I'm running WM6.1, and it works great, with the exception of the issues a couple posts up from me. I"m still using it though, the issues aren't enough to outweigh the cool benefits!

I agree. Other than the issues with the clock which was changed with military time everything is great for me. And if you dont like it then remove the cab and it will revert.
What is the Default DPI
Does anybody know what the default DPI is for the Shadow?
I dont get why when I Run CeleCMD all i see is boxes instead of actual words. Any one else having this problem?
I have the White Box Problem as well. They don't seem to be going away and My Buttons 1-9 are non-responsive as well and fix for this!
Default DPI for the shadow is 131
after installing android i felt something was bothering me
i realized i couldnt see the buttons lol.
then i remembered that its beeing worked on at the moment.
for all that cant find their buttons in the dark heres a quick temporary bandaid fix to make your life easier...
put a sticker on the menu button since its in the middle
i had the silicone sticky on my send button and moved it to menu that way i know where to start from.

So he knows can easily identify each key on the keypad based upon where the market is.
Similar to how touch-typers know where to hit based upon the raised marks on the F and J keys.

Yes it works!
You can change the brightness from the home screen without change any option or install any application.
Press on the notification bar (not open it) and after shows up with the date, just swype left or right to adjust the brightness!!!

Welcome to 2010 lol. (sorry!).
I think the correct way to do it is just to hold an area on the notification bar (not swype). left is less bright, right is more bright. (at least on latest fws it works like this).
This has been known since éclair. You must have auto brightness off for it to work though.
Thanks for sharing anyway, original thread has probably been lost in the folds. I'm sure there are plenty of new sgs users on here all the time. It is still one of the best smartphones on the market today, and now it's dirt cheap.

When I install skins from market, it is not showed in personalize->skins. There are only 3 default skins for HTC Sense 3.0. I've tried download skins from HTC Hub and that works correctly with no problems.
And I found out that all of NON-HTC skins aren't showed in skins option. If I install skin from HTC Hub, everything is OK, but when I install any skin for example from Android Market it's not showing in skins menu.
Can anyone help me
You can't install 3rd party skins yet due to the m10 tools not being updated. I've been waiting a while...
There's also a swipe function built into the text app.
And I believe the pattern lock screen has always had a black background on stock roms.

No. The recently released sense 3.0 roms for desire s and desire hd are a different resolution etc to the 3rd party made skins for sensation etc. Therefore they are not compatible and we have to wait for the m10 tools to be updated.

Well, I'm running the latest CM10.1 Nightly, and no other mods. For some reason, in some apps I can't touch things at the bottom of the screen. For instance, in Snapseed, I can't apply an edit, because it doesn't let me touch it. Also, in the messages app it takes forever to get the keyboard to come up. Does anyone else have this problem? Is it a CM10 thing? TIA!
So, I flashed the Google Official ROM, and still the problem persists. Going to fully unroot and see if it fixes itself.

Go into developer options. There should be an option for Pointer Location. Turn that on, and scribble all over the area you're having touch problems with. See if it is even registering your touches.

It would seem to be a software issue, where the launcher believes you are touching the nav bar so ignores input, that'd be my guess.
Try a different launcher maybe?
Another weird discovery. It seems that if I swipe over the dead-zone fast enough, it registers. That leads me to believe that it's a software problem, but after flashing stock ROM, un-rooting, and relocking I don't see how it could be. This is weird.
