Hi all,
I doubted that some water leaked under my screen, near the bottom right. The screen is 100% functional, but I can find a small piece of triangle-shaped shadow if I am careful enough and the screen is off. When the screen is lit, the shadow can hardly be found. I thought it was water because I once poured a little water on the screen to clean it.
But I become unsure after I read the thread Nexus 7 water damage?:
Water should not be able to get under the screen as it is all fused into a single unit. There is only one piece of glass and everything is laminated on to that. There should be no gaps or air pockets for the water to get into.

Can anyone tell me what happened to the screen of my Nexus7? Any help will be appreciated.
P.S.: I do not apply any screen protector to my Nexus7.
Edit:
I try to put my nexus 7 in dry rice but it doesn't help
I manage to take some photos, and under a strong light, I finally got some photos to help illuminate my problem.

Above is taken just under a strong light.
Hope that I can find a solution to clear the shadow. Any suggestion?
1 - How stupid that you tipped water onto your screen anyway !!!
Get a micro-fibre cloth and some solution to clean it, don't just tip water on it sheesh !!
2 - I doubt that it would be water, a picture would be useful?

Thank you for your reply.
Actually, I do use a micro-fibre cloth and special detergent for screen, but accidentally sprayed more than expected one day...
I am afraid you can't find anything from a picture, since the shadow is quite thin. I tried to take some photos, and failed to find the shadow on the photos.
Ah, I have to mention that when I use a micro-fibre cloth to make the screen wet, the shadow becomes obvious.

If you are sure its liquid, and its annoying you mate. The only thing I can really suggest is put it in a bowl of dry rice.
Hopefully that will draw the moisture out from where it came in.

Oh I purposely scratch(small one) my screen with a screw driver(d*** it). Just to test how tough the glass. Left a very very small scratch(Well I did it on really small are of phone which is not so visible). A little extra force than normal is required. The screen is scratchable if you intentionally do it.
I think put the phone together with car key in your pocket might scratch your phone. Put your phone face down on table and move it gently(when you pick up your phone, there is always little slide) shouldn't be leaving any scratch.
This serve as information for those who really want to know how tough the glass is.
P/s expect the glass to be tougher!
Haha. Thanks for such info. Much appreciated.

Not unless there is a small grain of sand on your table, it will scratch the screen all right.
But....shouldn't the screen use a "gorilla glass"??? Wtf?
Samsung packed a 600€ phone with scrap materials? I feel cheated..
Just because the screen is scratch resistant doesn't mean it's scratch proof. Gorilla glass adds some extra protection but everything can be overcome given you use enough force.

"Gorilla" glass or not, it still glass. And there are a lot of materials harder than glass. If material is harder than glass, it will scratch it, just less for Gorilla glass.
The hardest transparent material available is, well, diamond. This won't be scratchable by anything. Not aware of any phones using diamond faceplates yet though
The next hardest is synthetic sapphire. This will be scratched only by diamond, sapphire and some rare alloys. There are some watches and phones (Vertu I believe) that use sapphire faceplates. But if you look at the price tags, you'll realize the price you'll have to pay for
Diamond faceplate??!!! That might be the end of screen protector...lol

Got a small scratch on my screen. It was in my pocket for around an hour with keys. Disappointed with the scratch resistant thing. It suppose to take more effort to scratch it.

Are you guys all too cheap to buy screen protectors? They are less than ten bucks and i can't feel the difference. Not flaming, just poking fun. I treated my phone like it was, well, made of glass until my screen protector came in.

Ugh!
Installed a spigen wet screen protector and now condensation on the INSIDE of the front camera. It was not even that wet. So much for the waterproof video... mine must have a leak.
Had it for 6 hrs...

How does that happen?
Warranty will cover this for sure, don't yell a word about screen protector to them.
You can also try dryer.

So maybe a gentle back and forth with a hair dryer and the steam could escape through the grill?
Just put the phone in rice for a couple hours, and you'll be good.
Thanks guys, I will try the rice tonight.
And definitely do warranty if that doesn't work, because that will be covered, don't mention screen protector (TAKE IT OFF BEFORE YOU GO IN) and be careful of hair dryer so you don't accidentally overheat or cause some other damage to speaker or sensors that would be troublesome to you or warranty down the line. I work for a mobile carrier, trust me, this should be an easy replacement as long as the water indicator sticker isn't red or pink.

Ah, thank you! I'm assuming you used one of those screen protectors that you get wet before applying? Side question: How difficult was it to apply on the screen? I'm horrible with screen protectors that aren't tempered glass and I think I'll have problems with this phone.

Let me know how it goes! I've got the same thing, and I'm afraid to do a wet screen protector install. I usually have Best Buy do it for me, but they don't have any products for sale and they won't do it with the screen protector I bring them.
Glad the rice worked out for you..

I'm in the same boat as you. Although they're getting Edge screen protectors on 4/3 so that might be an option. I don't think I feel comfortable doing it myself after this.

all you need is 2 mist squirts of water, it takes very little water to get the film to stick. in any case, no need to panic, i wouldn't worry it will evaporate in a few hours.
I have the same problem what way did you leave the phone facing in the rice and for how long?
That's an easy fix. Just use a hair dryer and blow into the top little vent and you'll be able to watch it disappear

Still can't believe what happened to my Z5!
I accidentally dropped my phone a minute ago from the 4th floor and it felt straight to the concrete. I thought my phone would have been dead and totally destroyed due to this massive drop.
When i picked it up the screen was entirely cracked with a big impact in the bottom left corner but surprisly it just smashed my 0.3mm tampered glass screen protection!
It bend as well the phone in the middle by the power button without damaging the back and front panel!
And I only had a slim rubber case to protect it!
I guess i've been very lucky but still i can say this phone is really solid and well made.
I linked some photos of my tempered glass protection and case. (I can't take pics from the phone but i can see that the metal on the edge by the power button is still a little twisted so i guess my phone isn't watterproof any more..)

For the screen protection:

And the case:

Haha - that TPU case is great !
7 € and totally worth it
I got a similar combination but from spigen and at a much higher price
Hm, didn't know that the glas protector costs almost only a third in France and UK compared to German Amazon
@PELLET Nolwenn
but wheres the picture of the phone ?
i want to throw mine too ! err drop, umm , err smash actually... xD
I have the same bumper and screen protector.

Can't take any because i've no other camera..
But onestly my phone was properly bent in the middle! Very scary!
I've seen a video few weeks ago from someone doing the bend test on it and it did finished exactly as mine and without any big damage. Just the metal frame which doesn't fit perfectly where the power button is.
Here is the video (it's a Z5 premium actually but it doesn't really change compare to mine^^)
https://youtu.be/gVPa8sNY1Xw
Quite impressed by the screen and the back panel strength, they bend but don't break.
But the metal frame seems very fragile don't you think?

A quick google search shows the best option. https://www.ifixit.com/Answers/View...dhesive+or+glue+can+I+use+for+the+lcd+&+glass
Actually it is battery with back cover pushing the screen out. Probably too thick new battery inside that phone. Is there any point gluying it back then?

Nope, after i tested something i saw that it dont made a difference if i take original or third party . On both batterys the diplay getting pressed out. I tryed glue stripes for phones bjt dont work . So i have my phone without back cover into a secure case
Did you disassemble the glass of digitizer to use these stripes? I ordered a kit on eBay; an UV lamp, LOCA glue and some hypodermic syringe to try put a little bit of glue under the glass. Maybe it gonna work that way. Which battery you talking about?

jep, i heated the digitizer and with a little line i cutted it off . After that i layed the glue stripes on the screen end sites and put it back into frame .
thats the battery :

Dude, this is the same battery...
Hi again! Thank you for helping so far.
I'd like to disassemble original glass with a heater and put some new LOCA glue. Do I need to clean glass/lcd after disassembling it? I mean old glue must be completely off, huh?
I bought LOCA glue and a UV lamp from eBay. Is that lamp any good ? I just got it but seen some movie about applying LOCA glue and they got much bigger and probably much better UV lamp than mine and wondering if mine will be fine though?
Tried to do it yesterday but failed. I think the glass was still attached to the LCD and it was some glue holding it to the frame. Anyway, screen is partially broken now and I'm wondering if I should just buy a new one and replace it or just go for OnePlus 3T or 5.
As you can see in the pictures. There are holo effect in my phone glass protector..I apply it 6 hours ago. Should i w8 some hours to go it away? Or should i try olive oil+Cotton Bud trick before some dust go in that area?

I suggest the latter option but just keep in mind that sometimes it wont work as it depends on the quality of your tempered glass. Some bad ones leave those forever.
Get replacement. There's no way to seal by itself.

Those are the same protectors I got and I only had some very mild amounts of this around the edges, most of which I was able to smooth out. There's just a tiny (1mm) spot that remained and it doesn't bother me. I followed the video instructions they reference rather than their printed ones and I think it made the difference.

The screen on an LG G6 is flat.
You should never see that.

I post this problem on reddit.
A guy from there told me there was a dust in that area.So he suggest me to lift that part and clean it with dust sticker.
But only lift+clean that area causes more dust+sticker glue on there.
So i open it up fully & reinstall the glass.
But those holo effect is there.
Did you reinstall the old one, or put on a new one? If you reinstalled the old one, the dust is going to stick to it and there's no way to really get it off. You need a brand new one.
If you installed a new one, one of two things is going on. Either you are not cleaning the screen as well as you think (maybe you have some really stuck small particle there), or you are getting something under the edges when you install it.
To help with the first, you might want to use a magnifier with a light to check. Make sure to use the dust remover stickers. It may help to apply in a humid bathroom (run the shower for a while if needed) to keep the floating dust down.
To help with the second, make sure you are not holding the protector with your fingers AT ALL after removing the plastic from the adhesive side. You should have guide stickers attached to the top side (the surface you will be touching once it's applied), sticking out over the edges, which you hold on to. Don't try to hold the protector by the edges with your fingers. If you make a hinge with the stickers like they show you in the video, it's pretty easy to line it up and you don't have to touch it at all.
