It seems to me, that all the ROMs in here are either based off stock, or CM10 or 10.1. Is that an accurate statement?

Yep. sadly development for this device moves at a crawl.. which I don't really understand, I love my RAZR M. Having said that, the few ROMs that exist run pretty well.
Wrong section. Also, what would you want it based off of? That's about all it can be based on. Lol

Post your snippets of assessment in the relevant sections please. I know you developed this high level assessment, but it does not belong in development, that is reserved for Android development only.
I think the reason there has been so little development is because the M is so close to perfection already with JB stock. The biggest problem that needs resolution is the lack of app2sd capability, and I suspect that will remain elusive.

I'd say the lack is because of the difficulty in producing anything else.
If we were able to successfully compile from source, many other ROMs could be available.

Better custom kernels for one. Not that what we have is bad, but devs have a better base to build from rather than other device kernels and lots of tweaking to find what works.
Better kernels can mean better roms as far as overall performance and efficiency.
Nice
Luke
Now i'll really have to try a custom kernel. Be nice to have the stock kernel available to flash also.

Don't know if it will make a huge difference, but at least I have more to work with. For general ROM development, at least it will mean a more solid base for all the changes that have been made using franken-kernels. Should bring about a lot of more stable releases.

yes the latest aokp b40/ms6 and aokp Jelly Bean have a in-call volume settings menu that allows you to adjust mic gain/volume across speakerphone/earpiece/headset. Set the speaker phone mic gain around 12-13 and that will get rid of the echo. I believe its set to 26 by default.

No, I am serious......without NVidia playing ball we have no true ICS. You said it yourself.....not fully functional! We have pseudo ICS with features that don't work properly, and sub optimal OS. This isn't a slam against any dev. Just stating what I believe is fact. We had the kernels, etc., before any ICS porting started. We lack what the devs require for a true ICS OS.
So you can say its ICS but its crippled. That's why I say like a themed GB.

-> Implying that a BMW engine is better than Ford.
Anyway I get what you meant, but it's not fair to say that it's a themed GB, especially not fair to the devs that have worked so hard to get a working version. The only things that aren't working (at least for me) are HW Libs, Camera is a little jerky, and Browser rotation on most browsers. I think that's pretty good and can only get better once we get a finished kernel.

Also the possibility of Sense 5 being ported to our device is very very slim.

It's actually very very probable if you have the right person doing it, as the One has the exact same processor as the S4 (APQ8064T)
And Sense 5 was ported to the S3, which has a similar, but not exactly the same, processor.
The Thanks button is just to avoid "THANKS" posts in threads. Nothing more. Don't defeat the purpose of why it was introduced.

Haha well I didn't say it was improbable but that the possibility of it being it ported was slim. In the sense(no pun lol) that the chances of a fully functional port of it being ported are slim not that it is technically incapable of being done by some super dev ;P
My point was more so that I haven't seen anyone even mention of working on it for the S4 and that the S3 port is still in very early stages of development so I don't see it coming anytime soon especially if you are working on the S3 version at the moment! Though not saying you won't be able to get it on the S4 haha!

See So are we going to see issues here between cdma and gsm support like a few other devices out there? Example : I had the sprint HTC one and it got much less development because of partition differences from the gsm variants.
Since all moto x variants use the same base I'm assuming we won't need to worry about those kinda problems?
I'm curious because I'm hoping this device will have much more aggressive development and an active community. Since the phone is near AOSP I'm also wondering if we will have kernel developers like Franco and others.

I doubt we are going to see a very large Dev Community. I hope I am wrong. But since I haven't seen much interest by now - well - it just seems unlikely. Developers like to get new phones when they are brand new. And it doesn't seem to be happening. But I could be wrong. It would certainly not be the first time.

Or all the Devs were waiting on the dev edition...
Edit* I was thinking about this more. In many respects, the developers invest time, energy and heart, into "fixing" the devices... making them better via firmware and kernel tweaks. I have yet to aquire my moto x... hoping it will be at my door Monday, but from what I have gathered, this device is one of the best out of the box experiences of any other available phone... developers may recognize that their skills may be better appreciated and put to use on devices that would see more benefit. Not to say the moto x doesn't deserve development, but rather, that it may not need it as much as an s4, htc one or g2.
Now, the moto x experience can still be enhanced by development support, but, again without having the device yet myself, it appears as though many are getting, out of box, the experience that so many developers are striving to make possible on many of the other phones currently available.
Personally, I can't wait to have a phone, near or at stock, that is almost exactly what I have been wanting... A harmonization of hardware and software that doesn't sacrifice the efficiency of stock Android and doesn't skimp on usable quality features.

I, too, hope that we see decent developer support for the Moto X. I mean, the T-Mobile/Sprint versions have unlockable bootloaders, Moto just released dev editions which support cdma and gsm networks, the phone is available on all four major US carriers, so you'd figure we'd have healthy developer activity. Here's hoping that its just a matter of time.

Considering how close this is to AOSP, I'm sure a few devs might consider using the Moto X source as their base.

There is no doubt there will be stock blur based ROMs. With phones available on every carrier with unlockable bootloaders, two working recoveries, we should see them popping up soon. AFAIK the only thing that is not quite right yet is the updater script.
