[Q] Are there any stock Android roms for S4? - Sprint Samsung Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshoot

I have been very confused trying to find an AOSP rom for my S4. I am not a fan of touchwiz, I prefer Google's experience. But I can't make heads or tails of the available roms for this device. Are any of them similar to what I would get with Cyanogenmod?

I believe you should be looking in Original Android Development

They are in Android development and Original development. Since this is a question this post should be I. The Q and A section also.

Here's a list of every rom available for the Sprint GS4, and specifically a list of every AOSP rom. There are a ton of them for our phone - almost triple the TW roms.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2303917
Also the possibility of Sense 5 being ported to our device is very very slim.

It's actually very very probable if you have the right person doing it, as the One has the exact same processor as the S4 (APQ8064T)
And Sense 5 was ported to the S3, which has a similar, but not exactly the same, processor.
The Thanks button is just to avoid "THANKS" posts in threads. Nothing more. Don't defeat the purpose of why it was introduced.

Haha well I didn't say it was improbable but that the possibility of it being it ported was slim. In the sense(no pun lol) that the chances of a fully functional port of it being ported are slim not that it is technically incapable of being done by some super dev ;P
My point was more so that I haven't seen anyone even mention of working on it for the S4 and that the S3 port is still in very early stages of development so I don't see it coming anytime soon especially if you are working on the S3 version at the moment! Though not saying you won't be able to get it on the S4 haha!

I meant that threads should only be created in the development section to showcase a developers work. This thread doesn't fit that description and therefore doesn't belong within this section.

Have you actually looked? I mean...if you can be bothered to figure out how to root your phone, surely you can quickly peruse the Nexus S forums for the tons of information on the ICS roms currently available.
The NS4G really only has one option right now, and that's kwiboo's rom.

Koush has a rom, no 4g yet, also has a twitter with less ICS related posts
Drew Garen has a rom, for NS3g, drewgaren.com (his also includes soft buttons)
beezy kickstarted it all with this rom over at androidcentral only for the 4g
kwiboo has version 2 out. nexus s 3g and 4g supported, reported wifi issues when wifi disconnects, it's recomended to use v1 for now. v2 has updated music app with some hardware acceleration

Multiview from Galaxy NOTE 2 in Nexus 7?

Hi!
I am talking about the amazing true multitasking available in the NOTE 2
I googled a bit and I only found a version for the S3 and the S2
Any tip for install it in my Nexus 7?
thanks!
You could always ask one of the people who ported it to the S3 or S2.
I think that'll be your best option, to be honest.

The Note is on the Touchwiz framework...the app would basically have to be rewritten from the ground up. OR someone would have to build a Rom on Touchwiz framework.
Short answer is nobody is going to do this...Not going to happen.

I've seen a custom rom using touchwiz I'm not sure if it would be possible to use that and then use a port for multiview from the note 2

The US variants of the S3 still don't have it. I would assume a non touchwiz device wouldn't be getting it before the us variants do. Maybe the guys who ported TW to n7 could do it?

Looking for a good ROM

Hey guys, how are you?
I bought my SGS3 a few month ago. Since than I've been constantly looking for the best ROM.
I want a ROM with very good battery life, and I also want it to run smoothly.
Version 4.1.2 or above.
Also, if a kernel is necessary please tell me which kernel to use.
Thank you very much,
Orel/Xeiss.

Unfortunately best ROM threads are banned on XDA and this will be locked shortly , the reason being a certain ROM might be good for you may not be good for someone else.
All as you will be told is to go and try many different one and see which Is best for you.
Good luck.

I personally prefer Android than iOS. It wasn't really hard to get used to, In 1-3 days you'll become a master
If someone would suggest me to get an iPhone 5 instead of my SGS3, he won't live anymore
Ho watch some YouTube videos and decide. Good luck!
BTW thabka for telling me Motogp1, I'll do it. Moderators, if you can please lock this thread without banning me if would be great, I'm new here and I really don't want to get a ban right off the bed Thanks.

I want to try 4.3 too but I wanna try a stock Samsung TouchWiz one. I wonder when and if sextape and team will be able to get some leaks for us. Their leaks for the Epic 4G Tkuch were awesome~!

Pretty sure the Sextape team isn't doing leaks anymore and their account is closed on XDA. But I remember the days of ICS leaks for the E4GT, good times, like 2-3 leaks a week. Lol.

4.4 Google Play Edition? ETA?

Now that this rom is released, does anyone have any idea how long something like this would take to port over?
I'm not sure if it's an easy thing or not. I know AOSP was pushed almost same day, albeit being buggy.
I'm pretty excited to get the update on my AT&T phone, however I don't remember how long it took for the 4.3 to be released for regular models.
For anyone who hasn't seen it yet.

Awesome! That's where I got my 4.3 GPE rom, thanks for the update dude!
I'm not an expert on this, so someone correct me if I'm wrong.
By what I understand, the Google Edition ROM runs with little modification on the AT&T S4. The main hurdles are with the kernel, which has to be modified slightly to run on the AT&T S4. Once a developer is able to modify the kernel to run, porting the rest of the ROM over shouldn't be a big deal. The developers are pretty brilliant and quick on this stuff, so I imagine you'll be seeing ports of the GPE ROM here pretty soon.

Basically. I mean, there isn't a significant difference in the hardware between a normal Samsung S4 and a Google Edition S4, except the LTE chips used for retrieving signal (depends on your carrier). So that being said, the kernel shouldn't be a big deal and the ROM shouldn't be either. I'm really hoping to use Kangakat as soon as it's released, I'm a BIG fan of Kangabean and have been using it along with Omega ROM with dual boot. Can't wait for this! Thanks for the good news!
