Hi,
I have swapped some bits of my PC - including HDD.
Before change I had drive C (SSD) and all my files on separate drive.
I have added new HDD to my system, and changed location of My Documents via Folder Properties settings - all worked perfectly.
After that I have swapped CPU, motherboard, RAM and have "thrown away" my old drives.
I have turd on PC and all went well until it run into problem and done system restore... unfortunately System Restore point was made when old HD drives were active.
So, now I got all my "My Document" files on new drive but I am missing My Documents shortcut in User Files - where you got My Music, My Videos, etc...
How do I get it back in proper way - I don't want to just create simple shortcut- and connect it with new locations of my files?
Any ideas???
Guys, I really need to sort this out, please!
The easiest thing is to copy your files to c:\temp or onto a DVD, log in as another administrator, delete your original profile, then log back in as you. That will recreate your profile and file structure. You can then move the documents and pictures back to the correct new folders. The easiest way to delete your profile is in Control Panel > System > Advanced System Settings > Advanced Tab > User Profiles > Settings. If the delete button is grayed out when you click your account, just reboot, log in again as the administrator and it should be able to be deleted. BE SURE to copy any files/data you want to keep!
Thanks, all is sorted now. All it need was editing of registry and changing paths in:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Shell Folders and HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\User Shell Folders

These instructions may come in handy if you mess up your SD card.
NOTE: I found that I didn't have the CPPOCKETPC file they reffered to and where they state there are five options I only had four.
ON POCKET PC
1. Firstly, remove CoPilot from the Pocket PC by doing the following:
- On the welcome screen, click START > SETTINGS > SYSTEM > REMOVE PROGRAMS
- Remove "POCKET SPEECH" and COPILOT POCKET PC".
- Then close the window down by hitting the "X" on the top right hand side of the screen.
- Once this is complete. Click START > PROGRAMS > FILE EXPLORER, (Directly below the heading file explorer, it should say "MY DEVICE". If not click on the triangle next to the heading name. A menu should pop up which should say "MY DEVICE" on it. Please tap on the word and it will display the files which are contained in MY DEVICE.
- Click on the windows folder and it should bring up the list of the folders inside the Windows folder. Scroll down the list and locate a file called "CPPOCKETPC? (? Is the Copilot version number). Once you have located the file, tap and hold on the file name to reveal a sub-menu which should say: CUT, COPY, RENAME, DELETE. Click on DELETE, this will remove the file from this folder. Now exit File Explorer so you are taken back to the welcome screen.
ON PC & POCKET PC
2. Launch CoPilot on your desktop and then:
- Click on the data download wizard icon on the left hand side of the screen
- A window appears saying that there is no pocket PC device connected to your PC. Please select a drive to download the information.
- Select the C drive and then click next.
- Next screen will contain 5 options. Click on the option which says "REGION".
- Tick next to UK and then click "next"
- A message should appear, click OK
- Now on the top left hand side of the screen, a small window will appear saying the size required for map. (Check that required Memory is 87.0mb). If so click "next"
- Another window will appear asking you to label the data. It should already be labeled "REGIONUK". If the is correct, click "NEXT"
- You will now return back to the option screen with 5 buttons. Now click on DOWNLOAD. Another menu will appear: ensure that RegionUK is on the right hand side box and then click DOWNLOAD
- Select the operating system you are using on your Pocket PC and ensure the Speech it set to MALE TTS, then hit OK.
- This will start creating the data required for your Pocket PC. It may take a couple of minutes to do this.
- Once this is complete, hit the finish button. This means the download is complete.
3. Now connect your Pocket PC to your Desktop PC
- Click on MY COMPUTER and click on the C drive.
- Inside this drive you should have two folders called "2577" & "CoPilot". Once you have located these folders, select them both, right click and select COPY.
- Now go back to MY COMPUTER, open MOBILE DEVICE > MY POCKET PC > STORAGE CARD.
- DELETE ALL FILES in the STORAGE CARD (Ensure that the folder is completely empty before proceeding)
- Click inside the STORAGE CARD folder.
Right click in this folder and select Paste. This will copy the information onto your Storage card.
- Once this is completed disconnect your Pocket PC, take out the storage card and reinsert it.
- This should give you the installation window. Now follow the instructions on the screen to activate Copilot.
hey meaty!
cant' i just copy the files from the colipot install SD to desktop then copy them to new storage card?
maybe im being duumb here , ,??
cheers,
lr
I've never tried but a support guy gave me the very same instructions -so I guess not if you want the map data set configured
I found the easiest way was using the desktop data wizard to create all the map and installation files on an sd card using an sd card reader (much quicker). I have the europe map version and ended up putting the whole lot (complete maps europe maps etc) on a 2gb card. It used around 900mb. The program is installed to the sd card. The desktop program takes some time to compile the complete europe map data but now it all works just fine. I have of course copied the contents of the sd card to a backup file on the pc.
It is almost certainly possible to copy the original files from the sd card supplied to another sd card and then get the desktop program to download just the map data. (I have run both CP 5 and 6 from copies).
I have re-installed both CP 5 and 6 several times to both the jasjar and the sd card - without difficulty. The instructions given by ALK seem uncessarily complicated.

Yes you can but I managed somehow to trash my files and this was the way that ALK instructed me to re-create your installation files.
It is a bit long winded but it works!
y is nothing ever blooming straightforward!!!
these gadgets are lucky we love 'em!
Hmmm . . quite a few files on the SD . . anyone know what ones I need?
Sorry if it's been covered before (did a search, no joy) but is it possible to change the folder that a program uses as it's save to/get from folder. i.e. I want pictures/videos to start from a folder on the storage card and not in main memory and then have to navigate.
TIA chris

Hi,just setting up my M700 and need to transfer my themes over.Usually do this by just restoring from sprite backup. However this time I did a complete clean install. Problem is I cant find the normally present themes folder so as for them to appear in the today menu. Usually its in the windows folder but I cant find it.Where can I put them oe where is it located (the're a lot of them in a folder I created called themes) so as to be visable to the device ie usable/selectable as today backscreens? Thanx all.
The .tsk files should be stored in \windows
When you say that you can't see it, do you mean that you can't see \windows in the explorer on your PC when the phone is connected via ActiveSync?
If this is the case, then it might be due to the fact that the \windows folder is hidden and the explorer on your PC is not showing hidden files and folders.
Try also in My Documents.
Thanx for the reply, unfortunately didnt work
@Its : I can see the windows folder in both my trinity and pc
@MacGuy2006 : Have looked in my documents to no avail
Perhaps another way of posing the question would be how or where do I put additional themes so i can use them. I would rather not have them just put in like that in the windows or whatever folder as I'd like to keep them tidy and organised in their own sub-folder called themes. That way I can edit/remove/add them easily. What pathway or tweak if possible could I use to run them off the storage card to save on space?
Thanx again.

You can put the tsk files in the ROOT directory "/" of your miniSD card and WM5 will find them. I do this to save storage on my phone.

ok thanx matterhorn. May have to do that as its proving a pain.Just that I have more than enough space on the trinity itself.just cant get them to be seen
I download the zipped up tsk file to the storage card.
When I upzip it (by double clicking on the new icon shown in my storage card it gives the options of where you want to send it). I send it to the "my dococuments" on my phone. Then when you go into "settings", then "today" screen you'll have a choice of all your new tsk files added to the original ones.

Hey mate.. I was going nuts having this same problem until I found this setting in Folder Options: 'Hide protected operating system files'
Make sure this is turned off and you should be able to view it fine.
Hi, I am searching everywhere for an answer to this problem, I have changed everything in tools/folder options to show protected files but still cannot access the windows folder on a Trinity. (i know this is a Blackstone section but this is where I found the existing thread)
I am using XP, this is really baking my noodle, help please?
if you are doing it via the active syncsiupplied with the phone be patient.
when i click to open the folder it takes a while before it opens up.
could give that a go as i thought it didn't work either.
Thanks I found how to do it, my copy of Windows was missing a required dll, am able to see all files now and problem solved.
I checked all the correct settings in folder options but they kept reverting to hidden, so if this is happening to you on XP do this;
RUN;
CMD;
regsvr32 /ishell.dll
Hi all, I'm a noob to the Hd2 and liking it very much, certainly beats my old Nokia n95. I'm trying to do these 2 things listed below:
Enable Hidden Default Games
Go to the Windows directory and copy bubblebreaker.exe and solitaire.exe to the games folder in Windows\Start Menu. Make sure to unhide system files
and
Enable NaviPanel Without Owning the Car Kit/Navigation Dock
Go to Windows folder and copy NaviPanel.exe as a shortcut to Windows\Start Menu folder.
I've hooked the phone upto the computer using sync and got show all files/folders hidden and system, and have found all 3 exe files, but after i have right clicked on them and copied them, when i go to paste them into the windows\start menu folder, I get an error and it won't let me put anything in there.
Is there a setting i am missing somewhere?
I'm on T-Mobile in the U.K and with stock rom.
Thanks in advance for any reply and help
+++ Bump +++

browse to it in file manager, press and hold, copy, browse to games folder, press and hold, emty area choose paste as shortcut
cheers for that.
how did you find the hidden files? I, for the life of me, cant figure it out. I have resco explorer btw.
