Help With Moving Files - HD2 General

Hi all, I'm a noob to the Hd2 and liking it very much, certainly beats my old Nokia n95. I'm trying to do these 2 things listed below:
Enable Hidden Default Games
Go to the Windows directory and copy bubblebreaker.exe and solitaire.exe to the games folder in Windows\Start Menu. Make sure to unhide system files
and
Enable NaviPanel Without Owning the Car Kit/Navigation Dock
Go to Windows folder and copy NaviPanel.exe as a shortcut to Windows\Start Menu folder.
I've hooked the phone upto the computer using sync and got show all files/folders hidden and system, and have found all 3 exe files, but after i have right clicked on them and copied them, when i go to paste them into the windows\start menu folder, I get an error and it won't let me put anything in there.
Is there a setting i am missing somewhere?
I'm on T-Mobile in the U.K and with stock rom.
Thanks in advance for any reply and help

+++ Bump +++

do it from within the phone, not from the pc.

cheers for that.

Organising program files

I've been searching through my touch dual to find a way to move my games that I installed in to the 'games' folder (the one with solitaire and bubble breaker installed already), add extra folders to organise the programs installed better and move some of my programs I installed into the settings tab beacuse they all appear in the main programs list, but i have been unsuccesful so far!
There must be a simple way to do this?
Any help would be appreciated.
use file explorer, navigate to windows/start menu/programs and create any new folders you want then copy and paste the icons into the folders you want
thanks. really handy
It works!!
Thanks for that, it worked!!! I thought it would be something like that. Just one more thing, how do I move some of the apps to the 'personal' setting tab because when I put them in the setting folder, they automatically go to the 'system' setting tab.
Thanks once again!
Hey.
Thanks for this, this was very handy and guided me how to keep my files organised.
Thanks!

Shortcut to Games folder on Quick Launch?

Is it possible to make a shortcut to the Games Folder (or any other folder) as a Quick Launch button on the today screen? I have several games and it would take up too many Quick Launch slots so just using one slot to the Games folder would be great.
/Tubgirl
You'll have to create the shortcut yourself using the file explorer (copy and 'paste shortcut'). Once you have the shortcut placed in the /Windows/Start Menu/Programs folder you should be able to add it to the home screen.
In case you didn't know the Games folder itself is located in /Windows/Start Menu/Programs
Thank you profahmad. I'm new to Windows Mobile so I'm still learning.
I tried your tip and now I could add the Games folder to the quick links. Unfortunately I thought it would open upp the Games folder like it looks in the Start menu. Instead Resco Eplorer opened the folder. Well well... no biggie.
Interestingly enough when I tried the same thing with another folder called "Shoutcast" on my storage card (contains pls-files to Internet Radio channels) I could add the folder to the Quicklink but I couldn't open it.
Anyway... thanks for the help
I don't think it's possible to force the Start menu itself to open a particular folder directly. You'll have to stick with the default file-explorer you have associated with the folders, in your case that would be the Resco Explorer.

Click to collapse
That's strange, did you create a shotcut and paste it into /Windows/Programs? I just tested it with a folder on my storage card and it works perfectly. You may have copied and pasted (and not pasted a shortcut) by accident. Try it again.

Aah you're right, Start Menu can't be forced so that's the best we can do at the moment.

TMOUSA folder shortcuts from SD card to \Windows\Start Menu\Programs wont open

Ok. so I copied a shortcut of a folder from my SD to the \Windows\Start Menu\Programs. The folder contains all my movies, and my plan was to put the folder shortcut from the programs on the quick links on the home page. But i ran into a problem, when i try to open the the shortcut by pressing the windows start button, scrolling to it and click it, it gives me this error message' "the file 'folder shortcut' cannot be opened. Either it is not signed with a trusted certificate, or one of its componets cannot be found. If the problem persists, try reinstalling tor restoring the file."
Its weird cause when i go to file explorer and follow the path \Windows\Start Menu\Programs and click on the folder shortcut it opens and takes me right to the files. Anyone else encountered this? I spent like 4 hours today with my phone trying different things, and about 3 just now surving the web and here and cant find anything.
I have the TMOUS version of the HD2 and the transformers movies are located on the SD card and i can access them through the Start programs on the home screen. Any help would be appriciated, Im really stuck. Thanks in advanced

Thanks for the info samsamuel, exactly what i needed. After reading the link i did some more research, and got it working perfectly. For anyone else intrested here are the steps to get a folder shortcut from your SD card to open in the programs area:
To make a shortcut on the start menu of a folder on the Storage card do these following steps:
1. Open up notepad on your computer
2. type in the command line (no quotes) “35#\Windows\fexplore.exe \Storage Card\’Folder Name’ ”
3. Replace “Folder Name” with the name of the folder in the Storage card you want the short cut to go to.
4. Click “save as” and name the file “whatever you want.lnk” (L lower case not I)
5. Copy The file to your phone, then to “windows\start menu\programs”
6. And your done!
Thanks again for your help

The only way i can run it is by going into file explorer and then storage card and then i the app folder i created and running it from there, where am i going wrong guys? help needed cheers
simple
go in file explorer to the file on sd card. tap and hold. click copy from the menu that appears.
open device\windows\start menu\programs and select there
(bottom screen) menu > edit > paste shortcut
rename the shortcut if you like
now you can select the file from start programs or assign it to a quick-link button.
BRILLIANT!!!

shortcut app?

Is there any app that will allow you to take a shortcut and put it in a folder?
Like put Ramcleaner into tools folder or bing into Internet folder?
Thank you
there are several, and the one on your phone is called file explorer ..
/windows/start menu/programs
move them around how ever you want, via cut and paste ...
Or
connect to your PC via active sync goto the root of your phone then
/windows/start menu/programs , move things around create folders what ever you want ...
(sometimes the windows folder can take a while to load)
Remember any quicklinks may have to be updated if you move the shortcut ...
Thank you it was that easy!
