My ISP is throttling my phone's port on my home wifi... I'm getting 0.40mbps down when I should be getting 15mbps down. How do I unthrottle myself?
You may not be able to. In the meantime, switch to 2G. It might be faster.
I think there is some confusion here. He is saying his home isp and not his cell provider. If it is, check your router settings.
Also switching to 2g, for me at least, did not help speeds after t mobile started throttling me today. I was getting dialup speeds on both edge and hspa. I guess it could help with battery life though.

I thought port 80 was http traffic, wouldn't that mean that everything on your network is getting throttled? I need more info lol
It its the only thing on your network that is getting throttled, check any qos settings on the router. Did you buy the router yourself or using one from the isp? I would think its impossible for an isp to single out a single device on a router since 192.*.*.* ips are nonroutable... Meaning they are invisible to the internet.
+1 on QoS, also check your signal strength and do a few speed tests

Agreed. Your ISP can't throttle any single device on your home internal network. Reboot your modem and router and see if there are still issues. Either that or reboot your phone. It's either a phone, modem or router issue.

And another thing...why do you think you should be getting 15 down? I'm assuming you are using cable internet, which means your connection is shared with your neighbors. For instance, I have a 20 down and 2 up connection. However, it varies depending on how busy the network is in the neighborhood.

I added a line to my girls account to get this phone. I've had problem since day one that I foolishly never took care of before the fourteen days. If I go into certain areas of town or sometimes even just on its own regardless I'll lose 3G and get error code 67. Updating prl or profile don't work, airplane mode, restarting the phone, nothing. It either kicks back in by its self in a couple hours or sprint has to be called to refresh the data. Anyone else have this issue? I'm wondering if it's just my phone or if it's my account. Happens across all roms and on stock too.

Are they upgrading the towers in your area? Here in Denver 3g keeps going in and out, 4g lte finally started popping up about 20 blocks north of my house
I've looked into it several times and I don't think so. My city isn't even on the list of cities scheduled to receive new towers soon. That would be great lol but I don't think it's the case.

You can call Sprint they can do things on their end that might help to.

Rochester /Upstate NY..... Yeah about the only way to ever fix the problem is by calling Sprint or waiting for it to fix it's self whenever it feels like but it seems to happen again and again regardless. I forgot to include this usually just initiates when the phone starts updating the prl and profile by its self (can't figure out if it's by areas I go into or completely random) and either fails or loses data even after being successful.

You can connect at 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz. this provides wireless internet connectivity using WiFi instead of Mobile internet. This lowers your cellular bill at the end of the month and provides much faster internet speeds for your phone whilst connected to WiFi.
In my case i am able to successfully connect to the 2.4 GHz frequency, but my HTC One does not see the router when i configure the router to 5 GHz frequency only. My Dell Laptop connects, but the HTC does not see the SSID.
Others have successfully connected at 5 GHz and using ac to improve their connection speed, but i have been unable to get this with the EA6500 router ((
I am using WPA-2 for security and i tried both N and ac modes on the 5 GHz frequency. I have no problems at 2.4 GHz and N with WPA-2.
So yo be ssfe I should buy a 2.4 Ghz router? What's s decent name brand, model of a router should buy to connect to my Gs4.hey if you can could you pm me a web link for s good router. Thanks

Unfortunately you need to have an internet connection to your home, connect this to the wireless router (i would suggest ASUS RT-AC66U and not the crappy EA 6500 i bought). Once connected there you should have WiFi distrubuted to your home, and you can connect your mobile phone to this. You can use this to share files etc throughout your home network..
I hope this helps.

Anyone else have the issue of your device being connected to wifi yet not being able to get connection? All services except Google based primarily work over wifi. I switch to mobile data, and all is good.
Any known issues? I had no wifi issues with my at&t UVerse service.

It's the **** technicolor router. G2 hated it, all my other devices maxed. Disabling QoS ect doesn't help much. I couldn't pass 3.5 dl on it, but maxed ul. Have Comcast give you another brand. Arris and Moto work fine.
I currently have the Arris TG862

Hard to say really. Because they both operate in the ISM band, there is a possibility of interference. For instance, take a look at this old (2002) article in EE Times.. But based on it's age, I would guess that current SOCs in handsets probably have radio hardware/firmware that has "other-protocol awareness" that prevent the device from interfering with itself, but probably do absolutely nothing about interference from/to other devices in the area on the "other" protocol. (That is, other BT devices interfering with the handset during it's use of 802.11, other 802.11 devices interfering with the handset's use of BT, and conversely for both). The protocol standards for Bluetooth and 802.11{a/b/g/n/ac} have mechanisms for cooperation/sharing for devices within their own protocol; but obviously a protocol standard can not have anything to say about something outside of it's own definition.
Then have a look at this Cisco article about the prevalence of interference in WiFi networks. Together with interop problems, it goes a long way to explaining why you see so many different reports of different kinds of trouble - the ISM band is a wide-open, uncontrolled experiment by the FCC. The fact that a lot of devices and combinations of devices succeed (WiFi is quite successful overall) is not a guarantee that trouble experienced in a particular case is the result of defective hardware or software.
Several generations of Android ago I experienced a problem where many devices on a WLAN were successful connecting to a Linksys WiFi router - and my Android phone would associate and authenticate successfully - but never get a DHCP lease. Sounds like a problem with the Android phone software/hardware, right? Except in this particular case, the problem was resolved by updating the router firmware, not the phone.
In that instance, it was tempting to "blame the phone" based on nominal behavior of other devices; but that inference turned out to be incorrect. The reasons that things happened the way they did was probably because the Android phone was staying within protocol, but exhibiting different behaviors than the other Windows/Apple devices on the WLAN, and those compliant - but different - behaviors elicited a bug in the router's software that the other devices did not trip.
That's the deal with Wifi. It takes two to tango. And there's always the possibility of other crap (portable phones, microwaves, baby monitors, wireless analog cameras, fluorescent lights) spoiling the dance.
Sorry to say it, but interop problems happen all the time with WiFi.
If you want to solve them in a particular instance, you have to start digging into the details.
If you control the WiFi router in question, there are far more knobs available to turn on the router than on the phone/tablet. Upgrade your router firmware, and start turning off unnecessary behaviors on the router. If you reduce the constellation of possible behaviors on either or both devices, the likelihood of bug expression will decrease.
.
Thanks to all who replied to the thread. Still having some issues with Wi-Fi. Has anyone been able to confirm that Verizon will be releasing a new update?
Thanks
Every router we'll be different so the web console interface will be unique per router model.
You want to login to your router via Google chrome or IE, and navigate to something along the lines of Wi-Fi channel frequency.
There should be a range from 1-11 "channels" and you want to try one at a time. Yours could be different than mine depending on interference around you.
I hope this kinda makes sense. This also applies to general networking if your laptop Wi-Fi signal is weak sauce

Hi
So lets get straight to it. Im rooted using IO , freegeed w/twrp, running stock rooted 10g rom. I have tried several roms and none of them on a speed test show me able to get over 3.8 mbps yet I get 8 mbps upload. I checked my pc, 30+ mbps download on there. Checked my gf's (completely untouched by me lol) g2 and she has the same problem its like it capped at 3.8 mbps on the wifi. 4g im getting 30 mbps. I am using comcasts phone/modem/router pos and when i checked i saw its 2.4ghz so i selected 2.4ghz on the phone along with turned wifi battery saver off. I have pretty much tried all I can think of. So now i need your help! I switched over from my lg og to the g2 and the og worked fine on this router.
Maybe try changing the channel on your router to 11?
thanks for the reply, but did not work.
Is it an old router?Try your phone with another router.
I'm guessing since its Comcast crap and only 2.4 ghz no 5 option that it is old. Lol. Just not sure why my og worked fine with this router, my brothers og pro is fine. But not our g2's

I don't need to go anywhere today and its cold out I don't want to just go to see atm. I'm wondering if I use my gfs g2 as a hotspot if I could see if wifi works that way. To bad she's at work lol

Cool, gf came home, turned on mobile hot spot, 30 mbps. So it is this pos Comcast router. I wonder if I call them if they will give me a newer router. But is there a special feature needed by a router for these phones? I'm confused lol. Why only g2's on this router?
Sent from my LG-D801 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
@ripbabey Turn to WPA TKIP only. The G2 hates the Technicolor AES+TKIP combo. Fixed mine. Weird thing is, works fine in AES on my SB6141 and the Arris. No further idea about it. Something just isn't getting along between the two. I'm not technical enough to dig deeper.
I'll check that out thanks
Sent from my LG-D801 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
You're welcome. It will work. I about returned the Technicolor because of this.
That actually improved some speed Mr not technical enough lol. I'm getting 12-15 mbps now which is matching my computer. So now when my speed picks back up from Comcast I'll see if I get any higher. Thank you so much!
