Defy+ 3500 mAh battery opinion - Defy Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I've been looking around eBay and I came across the 3500 mAh battery for the Defy+.
Has anyone tried this, and if so, what are your opinions? 3500 mAh is a massive force of battery life, even though I am sure the parts are not that quality from looking at the 8~10$ average eBay price.
So should I get this battery to serve me as an extra/backup one?

It will be actually much much lower mah then its mentioned for 8$ believe me.

I have one. Not sure about the total mAH but the battery seems at least better than my old stock battery. No one makes a good case for a Defy with the extended battery. I've resorted to running the phone naked. I might get some gaffers tape to add some protection.
Also keep in mind your water resistance goes away with the extended battery. Not a big deal if you are careful. The bigger battery combined with a battery saver to turn off data/wifi when screen is off allows the battery to easily last more than a day.
Edit: I changed back to my old OEM battery. The extra bulk made the phone too annoying to carry. There was extra battery life but the meter did not reflect the upgrade so it was hard to gauge. It's annoying to be running at 0-1% for a few hours because it could die anytime.

Anyone know how well this extended battery does?

Anyone have any idea how good this extended battery is for the Tilt?
HTC Li-ion Extended Capacity Battery with Black Extended Battery Door
Product Details:
HTC Li-ion Extended Capacity Battery with Black Extended Battery Door:
The aftermarket AT&T Tilt li-ion battery includes a black extended battery door. This AT&T Tilt Battery requires two to three complete charge cycles to reach full performance and is rated at 2400 mAh. The AT&T Tilt Extended battery is the perfect extra or AT&T Tilt replacement battery.

Is this one good or does it have issues like the others that have been mentioned with the power readings?
Just curious cause could really use an extended battery and would like a reliable one, if there is any.

Tilt Extended Battery?
I have heard some mixed stories about some of the extended batteries from actualy users.
First looking at the 2800 size battery:
http://www.amazon.com/AT-Tilt-Elect...=wl_it_cm_cr_acr_txt?ie=UTF8&showViewpoints=1
"This larger battery lasts about 1.5x longer, so around 15 hours (or more, I haven't let it drain completely, yet). This wasn't a huge increase, but it does let me use the phone for roughly a full work day. My usage includes push e-mail during the day, with numerous incoming and outgoing text messages, and maybe 30 minutes of talk time.
Charge time is excellent in my opinion, it took around two hours to charge the battery from 20% to 100%. "
Next I was looking at the 3200 size battery but couldn't understand why the price on these were so much higher than the 2800 for the little extra run time that you are getting.
http://www.amazon.com/Mugen-3000mAh...dp_top_cm_cr_acr_txt?ie=UTF8&showViewpoints=1
"PROS:
- the battery fits in the phone perfect
- the new back cover given is high quality, fits nicely, and looks great
- the new battery and back cover combo makes the phone thicker, obviously, but it is not over-bearing and easily noticable to others
CONS:
- just one, but it is a big one. so, the original battery is 1350mAh, right? well, that wasn't getting it done at all. we're talking 8-10 hours a charge with minimal phone calls. i do have exhange push email and another pop email that i am checking. that is most of the battery drain i imagine. fine, so i saw this and thought, "perfect, 3000mAh! this should get me a whole lot more time". well, as i finding out, not really. to be fair, i am getting more time. i would say 12, maybe 14 hours. a net gained of 4 hours. that seems strange to me for a battery that is 2.5 times as big. anyway, just want to give you a heads up so there isn't too much disappointment. PS - i did the whole "battery training" thing where i charge it all the way up, ran it all the way down....etc. 4 days in a row. "
So hope that helps...
I just hope this with an emergency charger, http://www.amazon.com/Battery-Charg...UTF8&coliid=IR8PJ5939FJ0L&colid=3UMYZBAJT4AYL
helps me get a full day with my unit...If this doesn't help I might consider the Iphone because I hear that is getting a full day of juice with one charged regular battery.
i was useing a 2400ma extended battery it worked good other than the door would catch on the part where the extended battery was sticking out pop the door off knock the battery out and turn off my phone. it was such a pain in the butt that i decided that i would rather charge my phone everyday than look in my holster to find my phone had been turned off for who knows how long. i was thinking about getting this battery though next time i feel like i have money to blow. http://www.amazon.com/1600mAh-Exten...1?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1226420513&sr=8-1
I bought the 2800 Mah battery. And it came with a ugly back door so i order the nice door that looks similar to the orignial cover. Well the 2800 works better and last longer. it mite last longer n better if you have a custom firmware. cuz im running the 6.1 n i heard the battery dies fast from it. But with the extended battery my phone dosent die fast.

is 1500mAh battery worth it?

hey guys, posting up on here asking anyone if they know if the 1500mAh seidio battery is worth buying, as im reading reviews i see TONS of mixed ones, thats why i came on here to ask everyone on XDA if they know a little more info than just "this battery is a good spare one" and how it compares to the original OEM 1350mAh battery
looking forward to hear from everyone
thnx!

Yes, it is worth the money- good investment. I bought mine a few months ago on ebay. I didn't want a battery that required a special backcover. With the 1500mAh Seidio battery you can keep your same cover. I did notice a good amount of juice. But I would recommend to install these 3 apps to make it even better:
NueDynamicClock
http://www.nuerom.com/BlogEngine/page/nueDynamicClock.aspx
You can safely underclock it. It gives you three options; power saving, default and max. With power saving mode, you can gain more battery power. I have tried the default setting...my battery goes down fast...you can immediately tell the difference.

With this app, you can finally stop ActiveSync from constantly running in your background stealing precious power.

This great app controls my backlight to adjust to its environment. It uses the phone's sensor and does a decent job.
The outcome:
With my OEM battery, it would drained within 4 hours...just of normal use. With my Seidio 1500mAh battery and these apps installed- i get 9 hours of normal use. By the way, the battery still heats up. But I am content.
Depending on how much you can find them for and if you mind a little extra bulk, but I would say go for the 2000mAh battery like this one.
I got this one a while back and its been great. It adds a little thickness since it requires a special cover, but its the rubberized one, unlike the slick one that came with the Fuze.
I'm not a heavy user by any means. I have Exchange pushing emails, do some texting and a few short calls. With the OEM battery, I would be down to about 40% at the end of about 15 hours. With the 2000mAh battery, I'm rarely below 80% after the same usage in 15 hours.
So if you can live with the 2mm extra thickness and don't mind spending about $10 more, I would go for the 2000mAh battery.

Battery Options for EVO

So right now I have some choices:
Go with a Seidio Innocell 3500mAh that will be about 60 bucks through Amazon that has a massive hump in the back.
Go with a solar power battery of some sort (they have 3500 mAh batteries online)
Go with cheap backup batteries.
Try recharging the battery in the method that HTC recommended.
What do you guys think?
Just curious...why? As a backup or did you have a problem with your battery?
I'd cop an extra battery, I hate the added bulk but that's just me.

+1, they are not expensive either, though I do think the actual EVO battery cost more than a Touch Pro or TP2 battery, which, by coincidence, are the same as the stock EVO battery....
I want a new or extra battery because:
Even with all the phone setting tweaks, my battery life is still pathetic. I want something I can run the phone normally with, without having to worry about my battery going dead.
And my phone did not receive the new update, which supposedly helps the battery life out.

How bad battery life you getting? I am able to get around 12-15 hours of use which is pretty good for me.
It seemed to be doing better, lasting longer than before but today, I pulled it off the charger, it was at full battery. Then I had it sit there for about an hour and half maybe (doing nothing) and I looked and all the sudden it's down to just over half battery life.
I'm not sure what's going on. Before the Network setting change, I couldn't even use the phone for 20 minutes without the thing dropping to 75% charge. After that it lasted much much longer, except for today.

hah yeah , definitely need to get an extra battery. I want a yellow battery like in that HD Mini!
I am convinced that there was a bad batch off Evo batteries. You might find that another 1500mah solves your issues.
Also, be careful with the 3rd party 2000mah battery as it is reported to have a real world capacity off approx 1100mah!!

60 will get you 12 aftermarket tp2 batteries and 6 multi function battery chargers, batteries rated at 1500 but I don't believe they are actually that high, I'm standing at 7 hours of above moderate use on one, would easily last me through a day of work at normal use. THIS IS OFF EBAY. These batteries have not been conditioned by me yet, so I'll do that and test again.

[Q] High Capacity Batteries

Hi,
I think my original G1 battery is finally reaching the end of its days (it generally only lasts about half a day now - but it is two years old after all!).
My question is, does anyone have any experience of the 'high capacity' batteries that are for sale on ebay? Are they ok?? Do they really last that much longer??? Are the very high capacity 'chunky' ones that come with a replacement back cover that much 'chunkier' - so much so that they don't fit comfortably in your pocket anymore???
Any help/warnings/reviews much appreciated!
Cheers!
Hello.
I have 2600 mAh and it lasts really at least 2 times the original battery does. I can only recommend it. I also use great app Juice Defender, which prolongs my battery life significantly and I get 1.5-3 days of battery life, depending on my usage.
It is bulkier that original, people notice my phone as a large one, but I got used to it and it is not a problem really. It even somehow fits better in my hand. And easily fits into regular jeans pocket, no problem.
2600 mah is the way to go. Yes chunky is good. Fat phones need love too.

Thanks for the responses guys - I'll be making a purchase later today!
Cheers!

Battery Comparison.

I'm going to be a useful XDA Member!
I bought a genuine Galaxy S 4G battery which is rated at 1650mAh. It's Samsung Branded, says 1650mAh and everything!
So I decided to see how much, if any, improvement there actually is. I was doing this for my own purposes, but I decided I'll share results with you guys too! I'm going to drain both the batteries doing the exact same test, and time them! Simple enough, right?
Configuration of the test:
-SRF Frozen 1.1.1 ROM with included Twlight Kernel. Undervolted (Forgot settings, will post when change batteries)
-Display at 100% Brightness
-Bluetooth on
-Wi-Fi Off
-Background Data off
-Auto-sync off
-GPS On
-Streaming THIS youtube video on the desktop site using Dolphin HD with Flash 10.3 plug-in
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CsA9PhnYASQ&feature=player_detailpage
I'll update when the battery dies. =D
Update:
So I got my results ready... Took a while but BAM:
1500mAh battery lasted 1 hour and 58 minutes.
1650 mAh battery lasted 2 hours and 16 minutes.
I will have to see how real world use is, but this is pretty encouraging considering I was just trying to kill this battery as fast as possible. I was pretty skeptical about this battery ACTUALLY being 1650mAh, even though it is genuine Samsung, but it is!
So if you guys want better battery life, and no extended back, I'd say spring for a Galaxy S 4G battery.
Yippeeee, I cant wait to see the results, im sooooo exited. I bet the 1650mah lasts just a little bit longer but thats just my wild guess.
Are you calibrating the batteries beforehand? Well running them out calibrate them and make better results in a second round of tests?

The 1500 mAh one was calibrated, but the 1650 one was not. If it's really important to you, I can do this tomorrow or another day I have time, I just don't have the patience to stare at my phone anymore, I want to use it. xP

I hear you, but if you want this to be a helpful thread this test needs to be done in a scientific manner. Successful science and patience rarely combine well. Please calibrate both or else it's more apples to oranges than it already will be. Technically, I wish this was a brand new phone with a stock battery being first calibrated and the replacement battery being put through the same circumstances at the same time.
Edit: specifying what the heck i'd want
Seems about right.
118 minutes for the 1500mah
vs
136 minutes for the 1650mah
That is a 15% increase.
The 1650 is 10% bigger than the 1500mah battery at advertised mah ratings. I am guessing you have had your 1500mah battery in use for a few months at least. Lets assume that it has diminished to 90% capacity from the new state of around 97% rated capacity which would be ~4-6 months of use. That means your 1500mah would be 1350mah.
Your 1650 is really 1600mah new most likely (97% rated).
That would make your 1650mah battery's real capacity around 18.5% larger than the 1500mah battery's real capacity, which is right in line with your test of around a 15% improvement.
Not pulling these numbers totally out of my ass BTW. www.batteryboss.org

Yay! Science worked! Now to test 1000 more times to avoid the small sample size argument. No, but really this thread just turned the helpful corner and I'm considering.
