Just buy it in April, you should be fine. And if you are not satisfied you can return it and buy another one anyway.

Mine is fine. No problems with it.

Mine is ok too but there where/are some with gaps around the edges of the phone where the aluminium bonds with the plastic.

you mean around the speaker parts....
either-way there was a reason for the delay, so its always better to wait a little

Definitely remember seeing a picture of a guys phone where it had a gap in the bonding process on the left hand side of the phone and anyway by the time they ship all the little issues should be ironed out.

Buy in April if you are worried about defects.
Defects are most likely to be found in first batch, no matter which smartphone you go for this includes Samsung and iPhones this is certainly my experience anyway.
Like someone said earlier if its defective simply get replacement.

I got mine on the 18th March and I can't fault it.

We had a thread where the advice was to worry about the later batches because the shortage would make them rush the manufacturing thus causing many defects in the construction. There also have been many concerns about the first batch citing poor build quality.
I haven't actually seen one in person yet but I've watched all the videos and read all the reviews. This phone is praised as being the best built mobile phone ever made. The design and construction, the machining of the aluminum body for example, are on a level I've never seen in a consumer product like this. The general impression of reviewers when they first get their hands on it is awe at how incredible it is.
Accept perfection for what it is, almost perfect.
Just my take on all the fretting...

I got mine on the 15th March and sadly it's having to go back for exchange, problems with the screen (flickering etc) and the top left of the screen is raised.

My One is in good shape. Arrived today.

This won't affect later batches as the shortage is due to the lack of camera components.
If you want to build 10 phones yet you only have 5 cameras to include on the phones why would you rush building all 10 then? Shouldn't you be focusing on the manufacturing instead while still waiting for the other 5 so the processing would still be in sync? Unless of course you wanna see your employees slacking/nothing to do because you rushed up finishing the 5 phones yet the other 5 cannot be made yet due to lacking of parts.

Dumb Flip Phone repurposed as a Cheap Bluetooth Handset

If I wanted to try and repurpose a flippy phone to slave to a smart phone, and be able to pick up and end calls, would there be a particular model or OSS base I'd have the best luck with? Like having a smartphone, but my parents don't, and I want to find something bulletproof. If it could it somehow dial out as well, I'd be set, but one thing at a time I guess.

This would be cool to have. I'm sure there are a number of Nokia or Motorola phones out there that would work with Android if you're skilled enough as a hacker.
Gonna dust this off. What other ways could one go about having a flip phone pair to take calls from your smartphone, outside of fabrication wholesale? I dunno any cheaply disposable phones that can be reprogrammed, and maybe the Raspberry Pi could work, but it seems like a waste to throw that much hardware at a device that can stick in your ear. Anypony?

Which I actually found for sale here, but I have no idea how reputable that site is...

Anyone know of anything better?

Has the Nexus 7 hardware been rev'd yet ?

Given the reports that Google CS are advising that the screen lift problem has been resolved. Has anybody who recently received a Nexus 7 from Google, got a picture of the internals near the screen bezel that shows what hardware changes have been made ?
If not, then I will continue to assume that the hardware has not been updated... and that the Google CS advice regarding fixes is just "words".
Deag
I think the problem is shorter screws. I don't think anything has changes other then that.

not necessarily hardware revisions, but production runs:

I doubt google CS would know if a hardware issue is resolved and even if they did know they wouldn't know which stock their warehouse is shipping. They will always tell you the tablets are fine. WHat CS rep from any company will tell you over the phone not to order the product?

There are quite a frew threads on this - it happened to me before oem parts were easily available and it was just as expensive if not more to buy it and do it yourself. LG does it for $140.

My very good experience with HTC customer care in Europe

Hey guys,
About 3 months ago I purchased an HTC One as I admired the level of craftsmanship put into the device. Unfortunately, the first device came with a minor protrusion of the screen at the top right corner. Because that point is exactly where a right handed person touches the phone to access the notification bar. I tried to return the phone but unfortunately my provider would not take it back and give me another, as it had been a little over 14 days since I had purchased it.
I went ahead and contacted htc customer care, who went out of their way to make an RMA for me and took care of the replacement process. I was very grateful, but unfortunately the second phone that arrived had also a cosmetic fault, a discoloration of the back of the phone that was apparent under mild light conditions.
Again I contacted HTC who replaced the second phone as well without causing me any further trouble. The next phone that arrived turned out to be fine. As originally disappointed as I was by the relatively poor manufacturing control of the early HTC one phones, the customer care of HTC completely won me over with their supportive stance and I felt it's worth writing a few words about. The morals of the story are, firstly that you shouldn't accept a device you're not happy with (especially at this price range!), but also that it's not just the product at hand, but the after sales care that matters too.

I find this quite incredible, given my, still ongoing experience of HTC UK. What a difference. Checkout my UK experience.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2425001
I must re-iterate that I WAS a HTC fan, and have had excellent service from HTC UK previously when I owned a desire, but my recent experience is appalling. Being a fan I wanted the HTC One. I also previously authored threads detailing how great HTC repair were when I had problems with my desire.
I am somewhat relieved that there is good service elsewhere. I have exchanged tweets with HTC senior execs with regards my HTC experience and have a personal commitment to action it (no news yet). I'll tweet this thread to him also. Take a look at the pics of my "repaired" device delivered yesterday from uk repair. Thanks for the thread. I was sure that this was a UK specific problem, and it appears it is.

The One X had a major design flaw, though only apperant after prolonged usage and only with people with fitting jeans but in all honesty the crap people are giving for these minor gaps/misaligments is just absurd, no other phone is looked at under such aesthetic scrutiny and almost no one would notice unloess you visited a forum like XDA
If you bought a One you must like HTC in some way but then to demand like an x number of exchanges until the gaps are truely microscopic will drive the company which makes the phones you like to bankrupcy...

Yea was just me and you. I wonder if some phones slipped through, as some phones aren't very "new". The manufacturing date of my phone is September 2nd, it is a replacement. It also could of just been a random defect that is possible on any phone and it is just bad timing for the Note 7.

It is... and they all have the same final appearance. Looks like a fast cook off of the stabilizer in the battery. If this latest is confirmed to be true.... it could lead to samsung pulling ALL units and scrapping the note 7. The CPSC is going to breathing down their necks something awful. Has anyone here noticed another samsung product blowing up this week? Lawsuits and the CPSC involved in exploding samsung clothing washers. No JOKE.
Honestly, I am debating on returning mine for a refund at this point as it's simply not worth the risk for a phone that is over-priced given the circumstances. You won't be able to re-sell this phone for anything of value now. The FAA and other public entities will treat the note 7 and owners as pariahs.
Oh, and OS updates.. They will never get anywhere with updating this phone as keeping these other issues at bay will prevent any changes to phones that may produce unintended consequences.
Guess the time is now for us to all think about where we stand as the paying consumer on this.

Resale could go either way - could be hard to sell or could become collector's item, especially if Samsung doesn't come up with a replacement in the Note line.
