Two things that I would enjoy having on my nexus4 is being able to see the metadata on my cars head unit while streaming music from my phone. And to be able to access the LTE network that TMobile has in Kansas City where I live.
The Bluetooth issue happened when Google changed the Bluetooth stack going from 4.2.1 to 4.2.2. I used to be able to see track info before the 4.2.2 update running CM10. Once CM 10.1 arrived with googles Bluetooth changes I lost the updated avrcp functionality.
With the LTE side of this being simuliar, losing functionality with the 4.2.2/CM10.1 update. I'm wondering what the drawbacks of reverting back to a 4.2.1/CM10 on the nexus 4 to gain these features back would be.
Let's start a discussion here, any one else I'm the same boat here? I know I would love to have access to tmobile's LTE here in Kansas City where I'm at as well as the old Bluetooth functionality of metadata back again.
What are Tue thoughts of the community?

There is no CM10 for the Nexus 4 since 10 is based on Android 4.1 and the N4 was never designed to run it.

I guess that answers that.

Hey guys,
has anybody experience with Miracast on the Nexus 10 or Android 4.2? I'm going to get an Adapter for my TV and I'm not sure how that works... haven't found any Miracast-related options in the settings app, and I don't know how the whole stuff with wifi is working (is the bandwidth of wifi high enough for that high resolution? How will the Nexus scale its 2650px down to the 1920 of my TV? ...).
Thanks
Currently nexus 10 is not miracast capable. Many people think it will be later, but since there might be bus bandwith issues i dont think it will.

Practical testing: Miracast with Nexus 10
There was quite of bit of discussion/speculation back on Nov-Dec on whether, how, and when Nexus 10 would support Miracast. I recently did some testing to support an app I'm developing, and wanted to: give an update on practical test results, and see if anyone has any further information (since none is forthcoming from google so far).
I tested Miracast links using Netgear's PTV3000 (Push2TV):
Samsung S3 - WORKS, after an upgrade to their latest PTV3000 firmware (v.2.2.9)
Google Nexus 10 - Does not work.
Google Galaxy Nexus - Does not work.
This is consistent with a recent posting on AndroidCentral ("Netgear PTV3000 gets a firmware update, now officially supports host of Android devices"). I'm interested in running on as many devices as possible, including the Nexus tablets and phones, but still can't find any information on plans and timing for Nexus 10, for example.
Anyone?
Hi XDA,
I've recently bought 2 Nexus 4 in the UK (is the plural Nexii?)
I am somewhat annoyed to find that data connectivity on both is Terrible:
- Neither Nexus will connect properly to my DLINK DSL-2780 through WIFI.
After some searching on the Web, this apparently plagues more owners of Nexus 4 in the UK. Of course, Google is blaming DLINK, DLINK is blaming Google... Both phones do connect, but there is hardly any data throughput.
On the other hand, a friend of mine CAN connect without any problems using his Nexus 7 (which has a different Kernel, he's got 3.1-something and my phones are on 3.4.something. I also tested one of my Nexus 4 on a public WIFI: no problems connecting to non-DLINK WIFI so far...
- Mobile data has similar issues: my nexus 4 does connect to my vodafone data connection, but the connection keeps dropping (i.e., browsing works ok-ish, but streaming is virtually impossible. This should not be because of bad signal (my previous phone still streams fine and never had any problems).
Basically, I've read about similar problems with Nexus 4 and even Jelly Bean in general, so I was planning to do a little experiment this weekend:
Since I have 2 identical phones with identical problems, I though I would flash only 1 of the 2 with a different ROM. However, I don't want to flash any ROM blindly (don't have too much time lately) so I was hoping if there's anyone here on XDA that has any experience with the latest batch of Nexus 4 being distributed in the UK.
- Did anyone recently receive a Nexus 4 in the UK without data problems? If so, which Baseband and Kernel are you on?
- What would be the 'cleanest' ROM to use to compare the stock firmare to?
- and of course, if anyone has any bright ideas to figure this out, or suggestions to make my experminent more useful, feel free to suggest
By the way, I did do a lot of searching on this problem already, and I did find many similar reports, but no solutions. Hence my little experiment.
For those that are wondering: I'm on:
Baseband: M9615A-CEFWMAZM-2.0.1700.33
Kernel: 3.4.0-perf-ge039dcb
Build #: JOP40D
Any idea if the Nexus 10 will support BLE with 4.3 ? ... I dont know if im misinformed or something i was reading , and watches some videos about it and they talk about the update bringing BLE to Nexus 4 and The New Nexus 7, nothing about OG N7 , N10 or the GNEX.

Since no one seems to have a clue: I tested this with my Nexus 10. Updated to 4.3 and tried to pair it with a TI SensorKit. No success.
If someone still wants to know: No BLE for Nexus 10

To elaborate on this, bluetooth pairing is different from BLE pairing, so you don't see BLE devices in the android bluetooth pairing screen.
However, you are right to say that the Nexus 10 has no BLE: I am currently developing a BLE application and while it discovers BLE devices when running on the Nexus 4, it doesn't when running on the Nexus 10.
So I guess the hardware is not present, but there is also no runtime error that says so.
Hi everyone, I have a quick question and haven't been able to find the answer anywhere.
I just got the update to 4.3 last night on my Nexus 7. I forgot to check about Miracast support. I usually leave it at home for my wife and daughter and take my Nexus 10 to work.
I know the Nexus 10 got Miracast support with 4.3, but I need to know about the Nexus 7 and don't have it here to check. Can someone let me know?
Trying to swing by Best Buy on the way home and pick up the Netgear PTV3000
Thanks.

Only Nexus 4, Nexus 7 (2013), and Nexus 10 have Miracast Support.

That's some BS. Do you know of any mods or ROMs that have added the support yet?
There is already a working Miracast rom, but people/dev don't seem to be interested, so I don't think this rom will be include it to the other popular rom out there for the Nexus 7 (2012).

I think some one got it working on PTV3000, if you read the Youtube comment.

Here is a 3D gaming I asked him to test out, just in case some one wanna know.

Here is the rom site for it:

I don't have a Miracast receiver to test it out, but people who do can test it out.

It's not BS, because I answered your question with quotes. You didn't mention custom roms in OP.

Hahaha. I wasn't saying your answer was BS. I was saying that Google not including it in the 4.3 update for the N7 was BS.

This I never understood, why is that? I would have thought developers would have been right on to this. But kensuke has shown it is possible.
And watching the videos I think it's fantastic. Yes the gaming one had a bit of latency, but it looked minimal. Afaik, other devices (n4, n10) that officially support miracast have similar latency so I don't see why the n7 wasn't officially supported. I'm way more excited about this than chromecast which everyone seems to be freaking over.
I had a look at kensuke's page hoping for news on this being in 4.3 and saw this:
""Remove all traces of wifi display sink implementation and supporting code." "
Sink implementation means that a miracast device can act as a host. So you could miracast from one nexus 7 device to another.
But google has removed sink implementation in 4.3 source! Why would they do that?
Not that I would use the sink feature al the time, but it could be cool where you are trying to demo something to someone, they could just connect to your device and show them. I could think of lots of cool features with that, but for whatever reason, google has removed that code.
Yes the code is there in 4.2.2 but I imagine trying to put old code back can be difficult.
I read that from here:
https://github.com/kensuke/How-to-Miracast-on-AOSP/wiki/Android-4.3
I hope he's successful in getting miracast to work in 4.3 and I also hope he can reimplement the sink feature but again, I understand that may be difficult because of google removing it.
When I saw the gaming video here:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=20s567tzTdM&feature=player_detailpage&t=316
I noticed how good the picture was. It made me wonder if there was anything in the miracast spec on performance/quality settings. When miracasting a movie I'd want the highest quality and wouldn't mind latency, but with a game or any realtime app, the less latency the better. I wonder if encoding at a lower bit rate would help tackle the latency? Maybe not as it's hardware encoding the steam and it's the onboard encoder chip and not the settings that would influence latency.
Thanks to kensuke for his efforts. I'm still somewhat surprised that it's taken this long for a developer to attempt to tackle this.
And I really hope other devs would show interest and incorporate this into their roms.
Im really surprised to see that no developer other than kensuke is interested about miracast support in nexus 7. This would be the best Customization ever done for nexus 7. A lot of people would be loving to have this feature yet there is only one rom which kensuke made for only miracast test purposes. It can not be ported to 4.3? - dont mind using 4.2.2 until i upgrade to 2013 nexus 7.
Devs hear us out!
Hi guys. Yesterday i bougth SONY TV with miracast feature. Can i use mentioned ROM to mirror screen of my N7 to SONY TV. I am still using Parandroid ROM(v.3.60) based on JB 4.2.2. Do i need to flash whole new ROM or there is any script or application that i can use?

Hello all, my first post here.
Recently jumped into the Nexus 7 game with both feet and bought first a 2012 Nexus 7 then almost immediately a 2013 Nexus 7. After playing with both a bit I opted to buy yet another Nexus 7 but my purchase of choice the 3rd time around was another 2012 Nexus 7.
While on paper the specs for the 2013 Nexus 7 are sweet and it is no doubt a fantastic tablet my needs seem to be more suited to the 2012 based on the following conditions, (which I'm aware could change with hacks and kernel updates).
First of all I have USBROM installed on both my 2012 Nexus 7's. It allows me to connect a DAC to my Nexus and also an OTG Y cable which I can simultaneously charge. I have found with the latest CyanogenMod 10.2 nightlies for the 2013 Nexus 7 I can also connect a DAC but I cannot charge at the same time.
I use Logitech Media Server to stream music to my Nexus 7 and having a wonderful touch screen that won't go off during use is fantastic. It replaced a Raspberry Pi running Squeezeplug. More user friendly for the family but of course more expensive.
Another reason I'm a fan of the 2012 is because I can connect a USB 3G dongle to it using PPPWidget. I have an unlocked Huawei E303 and travel extensively. Being able to hook a dongle up to my Nexus will be invaluable when I'm working on some foreign runway with no wifi and not data roaming on my cell phone.
Nexus 7 flo seems to have kernel module loading disabled.
Anyway in my opinion the newer Nexus 7 is somewhat crippled compared to its older brother. That being said I use my 2013 Nexus 7 religiously and constantly as the others seem to have taken up duties as stereo sources at work and at home. However when I travel I leave the new Nexus 7 at home.
Anyway, just an observation and an introduction. As I said I'm aware one good kernel makes the older Nexus 7 almost obsolete but I'm living in the here and now.
