Will the gs4 have the project butter cause for sum reason they didnt added it to gs3 even recently with the newest 4.2.2 update Samsung hasn't added the project butter feature in it which is supposed make android run buttery smooth... And noone online has even asked this question for the gs4 and I'm curious does Samsung not know how to enable the project butter or they just don't add it cause it messes up there touchwiz I know they said there was a reason they want to put it on the gs3 but I forgot and if somone can please find out or figure this out it would be nice.

Project Butter is included in every Samsung device that has JB,
the question is whether it is implemented correctly.

ITS not included I already saw many video reviews where everyone has said that no Samsung phone that has jellybean has project butter. That includes the gs3 and even Samsung stated there was reason for it a couple months ago I can't remember thou but project butter is a jelly bean feature but its not part of the jelly bean update so its up to the manufacturer to added it. So my question is will gs4 have the same fate? And if u still believe gs3 has find me proof I've looked every and every review on it online has said no jellybean Samsung phone has the project butter..

Project butter is just a gimmick from google. To make jelly bean with something distinct.
Ics when released was hard to port or mod but with all the dev and further 4.0.4 had it rock hard. So i didnt find that stability in jb 4.2 release. ICS was a real success. JB is a useless update. Leta see the KLP.

Project Butter works properly on Galaxy S III and S II on stock ROM and even custom rom like CM10.1
For those who have forgotten it:
"Project Butter" is not a feature like "Google+" or "Smart Stay". It is an approach to reduce visual lags by harmonizing calls from Apps (incl. launchers) to the Android graphic sub-system (a.k.a sufaceflinger)

Project butter is only noticeable with it Omar chips and snapdragon.
Galaxy nexus seems smoother with it, nexus 7 is still like a typical laggy tab while 4.1.x introduced intense lag to the Samsung galaxy s3

LOL project butter is embedded into the AOSP code, all jellybean roms have project butter. lol at some of these responses here hahaha

But Samsung is still using gingerbread Rom and making updates based on that. Hmm
Btw, cm10 and cm10.1 in exynos devices does not use project butter. Since the sources was not provided. Even if it's just a hack, cm is smoother than Samsung Rom.
Also, Galaxy nexus is faster than galaxy s3

Please stop talking about things you don't understand! 99% in here is wrong.
Project Butter is not a "joke" "fake" or framework. Its not a feature you can implement inside framework.
Project Butter's goal is, to keep the User Interface be shown with 60FPs, without battery drain or random appearing FPs lags.
It needs a kernel implementation, and now please stop posting wrong stuff here

No, I am serious......without NVidia playing ball we have no true ICS. You said it yourself.....not fully functional! We have pseudo ICS with features that don't work properly, and sub optimal OS. This isn't a slam against any dev. Just stating what I believe is fact. We had the kernels, etc., before any ICS porting started. We lack what the devs require for a true ICS OS.
So you can say its ICS but its crippled. That's why I say like a themed GB.

-> Implying that a BMW engine is better than Ford.
Anyway I get what you meant, but it's not fair to say that it's a themed GB, especially not fair to the devs that have worked so hard to get a working version. The only things that aren't working (at least for me) are HW Libs, Camera is a little jerky, and Browser rotation on most browsers. I think that's pretty good and can only get better once we get a finished kernel.

Hello,
Seems like Google's busy again huh?
Notable new features:
-Google Now enhanced
-Google Play enhanced
-Stock Video Player updated
-Project Road Runner to increase your battery life 3 folds
-and more!
Hopefully these improvements do not require any help from Samsung? Gawd if a new hwcomposer is needed etc then we will be out of luck since Samsung probably will ditch us after 4.1...

I find it hard to believe that road runner will be implemented to every device that gets the update. Nexus devices most certainly (they get everything) but I think the development to bring that to every device that's able to receive KLP will be too great and time consuming.

It is very possible it could be ported but if it is and there's no official release from Samsung for the i9100 its going to be very hard for the devs to pull apart the sources from another device, (say the i9300) and try to merge it together for ours. Most likely miss alot of key features. Like with JB devs cannot manage to get butter working, and their only hope is when JB is officially released, but even then there's rumours going around that the s3 won't even have a properly working project butter.

Precisely my point. If the LG is the only Nexus device released this time round (rumors point to 4 other devices by other brands), I can see XDAers gobbling up the LG Optimus Nexus.
The choice is much easier this time around, unlike the Galaxy Nexus which wasn't that much better spec wise than its contemporaries.

There's rumors of it as well, but personally at this current point in time I feel that the rumors for the LG Optimus Nexus are more "concrete",if that's the word for it.
Androidauthority has a write up on it:
http://www.androidauthority.com/galaxy-nexus-2-plus-gt-i9260-here-what-we-know-118932/
The specs don't look encouraging. It seems to be only a slight upgrade over the old i9250, and is packing a dual-core A9 CPU.
Now, I realize that not everyone goes for specs, but I'm a specs guy and the Optimus Nexus is the most exciting phone for me in quite a while. :fingers-crossed:

AFAIK, nobody knows how exactly it's supposed to work right? Maybe it's a rework of the software internals? If I have to guess, maybe it's a radical rewrite of the Dalvik VM to make it much more efficient, or aggressive optimization of Android OS itself.
There will be multiple nexus phones. Don't you guys read the latest news? The nexus program will see huge changes.

So if you are here every day you may realize that I was the guy who kept saying that GB was incredible. But a few days ago I got bored of it and decided to jump directly to JB 4.1.2, I'm using some random rom calles Kang AOKP or so and totally blown away by its smoothness and customization and battery life. I pushed GB to its limit by extreme customization but it was no way this good. Google and developers did follow the right track, this rom is much morw helpful for my daily use. Of course I still find some bugs but I think I'll try another rom and never come back to older versions. ICS was a failure in my eyes but JB is a perfect win for me.
I heard that from 4.1.2 it's a lot different, so I think I'll keep trying with 4.1.2

+2 actually.
JB is awesome - as a flashaholic I just wish I could try more of the JB ROMS - but some of the download sites suck speed wise for me! or I can't get to them at the office
Rocking ROMS I have used - Jelly King, Vanilla Rootbox, Super Nexus and RR.
Dual boot Jelly King + whichever takes my fancy for today on Dorimanx 7.10
Improvement over ICS is :laugh::good:
Another Vote For Rootbox...Very Impressive ROM
Jelly Bean is really awesome, pity the big delays that non-nexus devices have to get official ROMs.
Praise the developers that work hard to offer us all the goodies ahead of time

I guess so.
coz all the GUI is taken care by the GPU.
and making it to do multiwindow will increase stress on it.
even adreno 205 scores better than SGX540.
may be we need to overclock our gpu for a decent performance.
devs.... we need you.

It can only work on samsung touchwiz ui framework, our graphic card surely isn't the problem,
i understand its a bit complicated programming it but we need consistent developer support
I want this too. Realy weird a 7'' 10.1'' not having multi-window
Samsung may include a premium update with these features along or after the 4.1.2 or 4.2.x update. I'm waiting for the similar update on the s3 mini, but knowing Samsung this will take a while with the release of s4.
A large part of these "premium" features that the s2 got along with the 4.1.2 update could work on other Samsung devices like smart stay or smart rotate that are very useful on a tablet that can be used for reading ebooks. All we can do for now is wait.

4.1.2 is out what are the changelogs? Anything new?
Sent from my GT-I9100 using xda premium
I did not test the 4.1.2 there is only one release fit India on samfirmware. As far as i know there are no new features, but i read that the overall speed and snappiness of the ui and browser loading speeds are increased.

I guess Samsung wouldn't do a major uipdate without new features...
My Hope:
-Multiwindow,
-Ripple Effect,
-Touchwiz Nature UX 2.0 (GalaxyS4's one)
-Maybe S Voice?
I will be fully satisfacted with Samsung if they do that...

Pretty sure Project Butter is a built in feature for Jelly bean.
Its not even a feature its just improved code that in theory should run better I believe
OP created similar thread in the GS4 forums, sounds like a troll to me.

Well I find it quite buttery smooth already.
Lets rub some "butter" on OP (troll) so he can experience the buttery'ness.
Looks like he copied it all and changed some words, looks like the changes words are in caps.. Lol trolls should be kicked off...

I don't think stupid attention whores have feelings, nor do trolls, or trolls that look like an attention whore or vise–versa.

FOR THE LOVE OF GOD please use any sort of proper punctuation. Project butter is built into android 4.1 jelly bean. It's on there to begin with. My little brother has the droid DNA with the S4 pro processor and its as smooth as can be, so the fact that this phone has an upgraded processor along with the newest version of sense makes me think this will be even smoother.
Don't need any of these rumor mill threads. Thread Closed.
