What Kernel ? - Nexus 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Which custom kernel advise me to flash to be closer to stock, but with UV and UC ?

Motley, Trinity and Franco. I don't know about the rest.
Sent from my Nexus 4 using Tapatalk 2

Harsh has the stock kernel with several additions built in in his OP. It's different from his main kernel.

I'd highly recommend matr1x (link in sig). It UCs to 288 MHz and has default -100 mV UV=exceptional battery life.

[Q] conservative governor not working!!

so, whenever i use conservative governor it works properly for some time by after that the CPU spends all time at clk3 i.e.1000mhz. ondemand governor works fine.
btw, i tried cm7.1,7.2,miui,wiui,cm white rabbit but still conservative governor doesn't work properly.

bump...
doesnt matter which rom you use, governors are in the kernel, and i suppose you havent changed kernel in between... try flashing the cm7/froyo kernel from quarxs site (quarx2k.ru)!

Governors/Scheduler

Hi,
how i can add other Governors and Scheduler to my defy?
I see special Governors on other handys (kernels).
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1654659
This here is nice but i think the defy need more power.
Thanks

Hi, look for " droid X cpu governors " in the forum: you will find a zip to flash in order to get them .
You will need a custom recovery to flash them before booting in the bootmenu set them as you like
Boosted governor
Does anyone know what does the "boosted" CPU governor do precisely? I have found information on all other governors except this.
Using Defy+ CM7.2 (White Rabbit 1.7), stock kernel.
Boosted is a modified smartass(v2?) governor, its quite same as smartass.

boosted is the same as smartassv2 only with different preferences.
btw the updated droidx governors zip link is in my sig.

Thanks guys have been wondering about this boosted, also which setting is best for general use and battery life.

are you serious i got on 1st run 20712 with OC to 1.6ghz and (-50) undervolt using zzmove performance governor on Boeffla-kernel
2nd run 20631 with OC to 1.6ghz no undervolting using pegasusq speedmod governor
your score seems very impressive without any tweaks, well done my friend.

Hardly worth all the fuss .
A score of 18750 on a six month old 4.2.2 customized rom is my norm .
last 3 18827 18750 18620 that would be with stock kernel as well .

Help
i flashed the non flex version of pardus romand didnt flash any custom kernel like dorimanx's kernel or sth
I am using nofrills app to control cpu clocks
But it wont change anything
It stays on 2.2 max and 1.5 min governor ondemand
Row schedular
Nothing affects them is that because it's stock kernel ?
And what the hell is the idea of making the minimum clock speed 1.5 ghz?
Guys plz if anyone faces such a problem tell me how you outcame it

Post in the thread, don't make a new thread....
I would suggest giving a different kernel a try then, or it could be the app you are using to try and control the kernel. Might give something like system tuner a try first

[Q] [Kernel] Best OC Kernel for KK

Hello XDA!
Atm i am using Omega Rom v12 with Omega kernel but i want to OC my phone and wonder which Kernel that is the best.
SnapKat kernel Rev2.9 (CPU OC 2.88GHz, GPU OC 550MHz)
leanKernel v2.3 (CPU OC 2.72Ghz, No GPU OC)
Custom N3 (CPU OC 2.5ghz, No GPU OC)
So atm i think i will use SnapKat because of the high CPU OC and you can also OC the GPU.
but it seams that LeanKernel is more popular.
So which OC Kernel is the best?
Be first to replay
You have to determine which is best for yourself.

First question to ask yourself is why do you need to OC? Gaming? Benchmarks? because you can?
Second, try them all for at least 3-6 days each and decide which improves your perception on them
Third, you could always compile one and add some mods to it yourself if you're feeling brave

Could you maybe do some research on your own ?
There are just a few kernels, so no need for someone to spoon feed you.
And this thread should be closed, because it's ridiculous.

Mod you can delete this thread!
Mod Edit
"Best" or "Recommend" ROM/kernel threads are not allowed on XDA.
Please test these things for yourself.
This is the only way you will get an unbiased opinion, and then, you can decide for yourself if it meets YOUR needs.
Don't forget to make a nandroid before you start.
