HTC One Launch Delays - One (M7) General

Not good news
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/technology/htc/9942054/HTC-One-delayed.html
Most damming is the comment "The company said that it had struggled to secure components for its 4.7" touchscreen device because it was no longer considered a top tier partner by parts manufacturers."

Well, this is news to many of us here.
Thanks for bringing it to our attention!

Pretty sure the HTC announcement of the phone being rolled out at the end of this month/early April has been common knowledge here for some time.....Even the fact that its due to supply and production issues has been known for a while now too.....

Thanks for the late breaking news.

I love Android phones but Android Manufacturers need to get their stuff together... EVERY single experience I have had ordering Android products (GNex, Transformer Prime, HTC One) has been nothing but delays, delays, and more delays.

pretty cool , cant wait!!!
I'm be honest I like the back of the telus version better than the tmobile back. It's looks much more nicer seems to run blazing fast for qualcomm processor.

Have they actually given a tmobile release date? I watch all the different forums and havent seen one.

Allegedly, release date will be announced on Monday.
thanks hopefully its tuesday!!!
sweet!!!!!!!! SGH-T989
nice !!!!!!!!
oh man... they replaced the metal door for a high quality plastic door on the final production model
i was really looking forward to that shiny metal door as shown on the pre-release models.
it's nice to see the latest 2.3.5 GB loaded
although i'm undecided about the chrome band, it does looks really nice, but does it fades away?
Cool...But something about this phone says dont get it dam so many choices of new phones
The phone looks pretty fast. For the few seconds he actually clicked to get to about phone. To show the android version that's running. A lot of people saw the the benchmarks of the exynos processor and assume that the qualcomm processor is inferior for not scoring that high. I think most forgot that this phone also showed the benchmarks also which were identical to the Samsung Galaxy 2.
http://phandroid.com/2011/08/17/tel...ured-along-with-impressive-benchmark-results/ seems to me that processors are identical almost.

Mine is better. And whats with the omission of the gs II logo on the back? Small feature but necessary. I enjoy flipping my phone over and seeing it. Plus, the chrome dents easily. I had dents alllll around my vibrant's chromepiece.

Manufacturers don't lack on updates to be precise carriers lack on updates. If certain carrier bloatware doesn't work on your device because an update. Your update will be delayed if everyone would get updates from strictly Google everyone would have updates. If samsung wants to push this as a galaxy 2 they probably already have updates in store for this device as well as the other variants. Touchwiz has gotten lighter than sense. It doesn't take over your whole phone like htc sense does. Let's not mention the facts that qualcomm processors have a tons of support due to past htc devices. The processor in the hercules is almost identical to the touchpad and sensation. Look how much development the touchpad has gotten. Look at the sensation development. Just because you have 15-20 devs on one phone doesn't always necessary mean the development is good. We could only have 1 dev but he could push of quality roms and kernels. ROMs won't vary much anyway mostly stock roms and cm7 kang roms and miui.

ICS for DHD cancelled (permanently this time)

http://blog.htc.com/2012/03/ics/
so we must wait till crisch release his beautiful work
This is exactly the kind of thing that made me switch to a Nexus. HTC is getting seriously annoying and it is almost enough to make me sell my Desire. Well done HTC..
It really sucks too, because I was looking forward to seeing official ICS on the DHD. LC's is absolutely amazing, but without an official release of ICS, a lot of the problems the phone has in regards to ICS will be much more difficult to fix.
Oh well. I'm sure ClockaN will do absolutely amazing without an official update.

I don't think HTC realize the damage they do to themselves when they piss off the geak crowd. The reason that all 4 people in my family have htc phones is because me,the "techy" person, recommended that was a good choice. As soon as they piss off the techy person by doing something like this then they loose a lot more then the immediate customer they loose all the recommended customers as well. Grave mistake HTC.
I just don't get this...
So... a 600 MHz cpu with 512mb ram (desire c) can handle ICS and sense 4, but the Desire HD can't?
Yeah, my next phone will be a nexus one.

Wow, that sucks big time! That easily sounds like the stupidest thing I've seen a company do for a long time. I like HTC as anyone else here but I hope this backlash hurts them big time so they learn they can't just screw over their loyal customers like that.
Hopefully they come to their senses and take it all back like they did last year regarding the desire. Or we could all try and pressurise them into releasing all proprietary hardware drivers etc. But I doubt we'll have any luck with that!

I'm sure this angers the Inspire community as well. I have an Inspire 4G and I know the DHD devs make our phone much more worthwhile!
From what I read at HTC statement in their blog, it is not because DHD can't handle the ICS, but it is because they think our phone is in it greatest performance with latest Gingerbread update with Sense 3.0, so they did not want to spoil this enjoyment just for the sake of newer OS. I think HTC sees this problem from average joe perspective, whom never root or play with their phone, and just click on "Update" button whenever it's popped-up on their phone screen.
" ...ultimately the customer experience on the product is the deciding factor."
By the sounds of these posts, the CUSTOMER EXPERIENCE is pretty poor at the moment.

Why is it that every time when someone comes along with informations from any blog, which says the update is canceled, the hole crowd is going nuts?
Just yesterday some German finally heard about rumors from canceling ICS. So they contacted HTC and they said, the update will be released.
Still everyone going nuts

Anyone else notice YAHOO is glorifying the HTC ONE?

I've seen about 4-5 different articles now on Yahoo saying it is the best looking phone on the market within the last few days.
HTC may not have a very good marketing campaign but seems like Yahoo is doing HTC a favor.
What do you guys think?
Their latest article is titled
"The HTC One Deserves Its Place in the Spotlight"
Then yahoo post a link

But yeah I'm glad HTC is getting some much needed spotlight

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2258831 s4 audio issue.
I also sent my s4 back and now using my s2 again. Your blind if you think the HTC is good build quality ? Its metal but it is badly constructed and poor QC allowed many handsets sold to have faults. Just read the threads on here and you will see or just keep kidding yourself pal.

Definitely deserves to win most awards, if they could get stock issues sorted it will exceed most people's expectations.
Next year will be very interesting especially if HTC can improve and Samsung continue to use plastic. HTC might even outsell Samsung!!
I can personally live with a high premium build phone with slight build quality imperfections but I can't accept paying over 500 for plastic with slight build quality issues. So go HTC.
The HTC One is now a finalist in three categories: Phone of the Year, Gadget of the Year, and the Design Award; and HTC is a finalist in the Tech Brand of the Year Category. If you want them to actually win, you'll need to vote again!

Was the turnaround quick enough?

With 4.3 out now was the wait to long compared to nexus devices? I for one am completely satisfied that it didn't take to long.
Sent from my HTC One using xda premium
There was literally a week's turn around. How can anyone be unhappy with that? Fingers crossed that they keep it up. Any indication on if the update came from HTC or Google?
People are unhappy with the turn around on sense based roms. We haven't gotten one of those yet.
Porting aosp with some modifications to a device is relatively easy, especially if it's the manufacturer of the device.

I was very shocked when it dropped on Friday. My wife's Nexus 7 didn't get it until last night.
I was so happy and surprised I decided to convert mine over to GPE rather than wait for sense version updates.
This was the fastest update I have ever received!!

yea can't be mad with a 1 week turn around time on AOSP. I wonder what other changes they will do in the sense 4.3 update other than the 4.3 changes.
This is easily the most positive press HTC has EVER received regarding an update. Google/Samsung/HTC did a great job. Let's hope they keep it up.

I'm not making excuses for them... But it is way easier to update the vanilla android experience than it is to do the same for sense. They have to build and test sense on top of these updates. They still haven't updated all the unbranded unlocked devices or developer editions running sense.
Add carrier testing on top of that...
