As we all know , Xperia family have new members added and people all over are excited to update X10 ( .. Simply the BEST XPERIA) to the other new Xperia members..
I dont think Xperia X10 is even old .. its stupid alwayz fighing for 2.2 or 2.3 bla..bla roms... Our Xperia works much better with only lil mods even to its factory f/w.
We all take X10 as granted.. BUT TRUST ME ITS NOT...
So, support the voting for X10.. Mine goes the 1st!!
M huge fan of mine Xperia X10 Luster White.. I Just Love It!
Love ur Xperia's!!
-It doesn't even have 1 year since its release.
-It has better specs. than some new smartphones that cost more.
-We'll get a stable Froyo/Gingerbread ROM working at 100% soon, no matter if SE decides not updating it anymore.
-The bootloader is really hard to crack but that doesn't mean is impossible to do it.
-16 M colors would be the only missing feature to make this phone a complete masterpiece. We already got all the basics and we'll go for mere once we have full access to it.
Then, you know what I voted.
I'm going to be honest here, usually I buy a new phone every 6 months or sometimes less.
With the X10 . It is the first time I stick with a phone for almost a hear ( since April ) , using stock SE firmware with JIT and I'm enjoying it
I believe it still got life against new products with dualcore

change phone once a year xD last one was an x1 took me less than a year to get an x10
in june i will have a year with it so might change it to an arc or any htc
Lmfao.. jst changing the phone as It is 1 yr old is the stupidest excuse coz i dnt think $500+ phone does owe this excuse to get changed.. lol still need more votes..!
hmmm depends on the person
I throw my x1 (paid around 800 dlls for it) in less than 1 year
x10 will be "dumped" in few months (unless i move to another country cause it's sim unlocked) and it was around 650 dlls
pretty much depends on the person, if has money to "waste" and phone likes
for me it's great and it's the first time that i use one phone in 8 months and the new handsets i really didn't saw the differences ....all things needed is imported with x10 even the games working great
A bit of a weird topic, but I got thinking today...
The X10 is my first smartphone I've ever had, before that I had a tough as nails Samsung SGH-E180, which was one of those cheap 100 dollar phones. I fell in love with the X10 after seeing my friend use one, and without even looking at the competition bought one.
And I love it to this day. Thanks to the devs at XDA, my X10 is the fastest smartphone out of all my friends (who have Desire HDs, iPhones etc) and wherever I go I get a few looks at my phone from strangers, because of it's sexiness .
Once I met another X10 owner on the subway and when we saw that we both had X10s, we had like this manly nod of approval. It was awesome.
Anyway, how much value do you hold your X10? How emotionally attached are you to it? I don't think I'll ever get rid of this phone, when I get a new one I'll probably pass it down to my brother, but I don't think I'd have the guts to get rid of the phone that brought me to the wonderful world of smartphones.
Im the same as you... The X10 is the first smartphone ive had.... and YES... i still see Sony Ericsson phones as SEXY.... damn.... if I could only upgrade the internal hardware on my X10... Id never ever replace it..... Iphone maniacs drool when they see me play Fruit Ninja or Angry Birds While playing a song on my X10..... plus. my phone looks sexier... I love my phone now... I used to doubt it back then.... (1.6) but now... I think different.
I don't think I would be as attached as I am if it weren't for the 2.1 update fiasco with AT&T and the ride Sony Ericsson took us with on Android updates and multitouch. All of which got me addicted to xda, the xda app, Android, and most of all...my X10.
Phone sucks so I got a better one. Selling my X10 and never looking back.!

I love my x10. I got an xplay now and before I bought the xplay I was thinking of using the x10 as a battery charger and use the x10 battery as a backup battery for the xplay, but I just can't bare to see the x10 switched off.
I now keep the x10 next to my bed charged and use it every now and again with WiFi
I too am the same. It is my first smartphone and I love it. To be honest, with the custom Tom's, I far prefer the x10 to my dads DHD. For some reason the x10 is just comfortable and feels good in the hands. My Gf and brother have iPhones and they get jealous (and mildly irritated) whenever I show them new features that they do not and most likely never will have. (I particularly like emailing my brother links to flash websites haha)
I don't think I could let this phone go even if I do upgrade. I too will give it to my little brother

well, same as u. i love my X10. but i will change it to HTC after working.
It's due to working purpose. ( cox going to play stock market)
if compare x10 to HTC incredible S or desire HD or sensation.. i think HTC will probably work higher performance than x10 ><
I love the device.
But the way SE treats it makes me hate them.
The x10 is capable of so much but is being treated so badly by SE it hurts.
I mostly feel the damage in my wallet.
But the x10 is really cool and not too bad for my first android device.
It has taught me a lot about android.
If I were rich, I'd be changing phones like underwear.

I lol'd so hard.
On topic though, i do like my phone very much, even more after finding out about xda, even with a non functioning usb hub.
I was that attached to the X10 that I gave it to my girlfriend and bought a nexus s..

I honestly do not like this phone as a whole. I only got this cause it was cheap. When possible, I'm gonna switch to another phone. For now, custom ROMs and tweaks will keep me busy.
Im not I only went with x10 as I got it at a reduced price, I prefer the Desire HD but could not afford that, I love the speed of the unit compared to my HTC Magic. but this is the last of a long line of smartphones so I am not blinded by the virgin user wow.
The hardware buttons annoy me and constantly turn the phone on, the flap on the usb REALLY winds me up and why it has the usb at the top.
Would swap without hesitation for a desire HD, so no emotional attachment for me
Very much until I found out mine had a problem with the motherboard overheating. Now it's pretty much nothing since I'm pretty happy now with my Motorola Atrix
Well the x10 was my first smartphone and I loved it. But I eventually got bored and I now have an inspire and have never looked back!
If you don't like, love or cherish your x10, then you are probably using it wrong
Quite a lot. I mean I sent it for the repair. It's been 9 days now and i missed it sooo much!
I was walking around the mall checking out iPhone 4, Xperia Arc, LG Optimus 2x etcetera etcetera and i say to myself 'nah I love my x10 i can wait'
Maybe it's because this is my first Smartphone =3
On a scale of 1 - 10
I would be around 9.
I am very emotionally attached to my x10.
I would consider that it is my very first smartphone (but i used asus windows phone 6.5)
I bought the x10 the first day it came out and went through a series of emotion with it. The year 2010 was a wild ride for me and this phone is a sign of these emotions.
If I were to lose this phone, I would be very sad.
I can get quite emo
Funny that we have posts in this thread from people who have gotten rid of their X10 because they were not attached to it, yet they are still browsing the X10 forums?????
Would swap it for an arc in a heartbeat, simply for the better screen responsivity and smoothness
Hello,
I use a Motorola Defy on CM7 which is preety good, can run almost anything you trow at it. I want a second device and thought the Flipout was nice and in the price range in my country.
Can i update to 2.2? Anything special i should know about this device?
I don't care if the ROM is custom or not, i will install the best.
Battery life in normal use ( music gaming internet?)
thanks in advance
don't get the flipout
i am the only dev here and i cant even get custom 2.1 to work
get an htc wildfire
or lg gt540
sony erricsson x10 mini
all have 2.2 wether its custom or officail
flipout is dead even im moving on
to better pastures
just got myself htc sensation in exchange for my flipout and my gt540
Thanks
thanks for the answer, sad to hear this, it's a cute qwerty device (. 2.2 was a must.. still, will go for smth else. I hate the lack of support Motorola is showing... the Defy was lucky, people bought it, devs came, CM7 came, Official CM7 is arround the corner, and great hardware. I was looking for the CHARM... maybe... but it's more expensive... i want cheap QWERTY Android 2.2 at least.
Again thanks, have fun with the Sensation.
even the charm is stuck on 2.1 motorola have stated that niether the
flipout or charm will see any updates
WHATEVER YOU GET
DONT BUY A MOTOROLA
lol, silent_bob52637 I can feel your frustration..
Actually I am selling off an Omnia 2, and a guy approaches me and said if I wanted to swap the unit off with his Motorola Flipout.. after watching some funny youtube clips and reading other comments, and FINALLY reading yours which came from a dev, I think I'll be better off selling it for hard cold cash than swapping it with a Flipout.
Xperia Mini Pro is more expenisve... will research more... maybe it's not such a crappy device, i would have used it for texting/ IM'ing/ maybe browser, email. Still Xperia Mini pro it's much better.
Another don't get one here.
I had this pre-ordered for the good things it has (small form and qwerty), to be let down by Motorola keeping it locked and then without updates.
Think I'll be after a Desire at some point, and will never be buying a phone again until it has been out a while and I can read what other people have done to it.
I also have a set a battery covers for it so it matches things
I've pretty much had the rundown of your typical mobile phone shop in the years, I heard of Android when T-Mobile went mad about it in their ad campaigns yet I was'nt drawn in. Infact the usual discomfort from new operating systems and their new surroundings put me off.
I got the X8 in May this year and ever since, I wont have anything other than Android.
Later went onto rooting the X8 a week ago. Yeh, unbelievable but I didn't fully understand Android's endless abilities until searching through Google. Hello XDA.
....
Your X8 story?
I saw it in a VIP's website, it was cheap, next day i bought it for 1euro
Sent from my X8 using XDA App
I am bargain hunter and technical freak. There was a drawer contract (= a contract, a phone completely for free, all fixed fees are covered by refound (cashback) from the dealer, yes, it really works, done it a few times already).
And the x8 was the most decent smartphone, with the mobile operating system, which I like most.
I had SE K700i for 5 years before the X8,which is my third phone and first smartphone. The k700 was accidentally destroyed,so I needed a new phone. Not too much to tell about after that,I've just got the sense for buying good things.
A friend of mine suggested it to me. Have it for over a week, like it so far. Rooted/installed custom rom the first day lol. Was looking for an entry-level android-based smartphone, so far X8 has to offer more than i've ever needed from a phone.
i didn't like the the minis in the x range and the x8 was in my price range at the time, once i get it the 2.1 update was out updated right away, after that started looking up on the googles and found XDA then from there rooting and custom ROMs came into play ^_^ now i pretty much hate my x8 and wish i had saved and got a better phone, but gingerDX is giving me epic 4 days of battery life i kinda of like it a bit more then i did minus the terrible camera and single touch screen.
I once owned a SE K770i, then when I saw one of my friend was using this x8 I was thinking of buying it. But they told me it was a low specs phone, and I should get a better ones like x10 etc. When I got my allowance from my uncle, it was just 800 ringgit Malaysia and x8 cost about 750. And I decided to get one. So when I bought it I wasn't happy bout it. Then when a friend of mine introduced me xda. I got happy. And now, I am satisfied with my x8. although I'm having fake dual touch and no flash. But still loving it.

I just wanted a phone, so, i saw the xperia x8, it was quite good, and it wasnt very expensive so, next day i bought it, and i rooted one week later, haha, so later i just instal custom roms and unlock bootloader hehe, so, i think is a awesome smartphone and i really like it
Bricked my previous phone, went scouting for a new one.. my budget was only 600 so i got the X8 not expecting much.. but after i discovered rooting and custom roms.. spent 2 weeks just rebooting into new roms and testing them.. now i'm using GingerDX v009..
P.S. Cypress digitizer was a pleasant surprise =D
I bought my X8 because interested with custom ROM. (2 days after buy rooted, 3 days - Xrecovery, 4 days-ROM hehe, yesterday or few days ago i unlock bootloader hehe..)
Well X8's Golden Era is pretty much over.
What were your highlights?
My X8 was and is a dear companion, I love.
But now with no more development (little development) to be done we are at the end of the road, ready to part company move on to new devices unless you already have moved on.
You're kinda right, I must agree. More powerful OS's have come which the X8 can't fully handle but I liked this "journey" as I met the world of Android. Now I am a new dev, I've made some clocks and I will definitely keep up with it and get further. I loved the thrills of the first root moments and the other hacking stuff etc., making X8 better and better with new ROMs and mods, making it beautiful with lots and lots of themes but... X8 has gotten kinda old.
I'll buy a Galaxy Nexus when it's out or a Samsung Galaxy S II but I will never forget my X8... It was truly inspirational for me...
Noo donĀ“t say that, i`ve just bought my X8 30 days ago.
I have my X8 for almost a whole year and its so good and i hope that it will survive next year too

You will see that X8 fans development won't stop so fast
Yeah... you're right. I'm not selling away my X8. I'm gonna keep it. You know... This "journey" you said, Chris. It really brought us to the world of android. I'll buy a samsung galaxy s plus maybe. But I'll wait for a day when we'll laugh and get a fully working 2.3. Gonna miss you guys.
In my opinion, X8 is an outdated phone since the first day it launched. Although it was Android 1.6 and updated to 2.1, but it should be a 2.1 phone in that period. After that SE is never update it anymore except the small patchs.
I never saw a phone in my country drop 30-40% in price after 3-4months. The trade-in valve even less than Nokia 5800 Music Express. If you ask me why I bought this phone, it is because it was the best and cheapest phone around that period. If i know it will drop that much in so short time, i will wait for it.
But anyway, XDA and their developers made my phone worth to use. I am not going to buy/sell any phone in another year, although X8 has no better hardware compare to now, but still is a good phone for daily use and small games/apps. A phone can call, sms and surfing net is enough for me. The only bad thing is the small screen, if X8 had 3.5-4", it definitely a better phone for me to use in next year.
Finally, the only thing i hope for X8 is the ICS. It maybe cannot fulfill, but it is the last thing to hope for. After that, i guess we will change our phone for 2years later.
This is the phone that introduce me to the amazing world of Android.
My 1st Android phone and won't be the last.
don't say thaatt~
i love my x8, my first android phone..................
yeah it has been a year too for me too using x8 but i am happy that i didnt buy that outdated symbian phones xda has done many things to our phone
i just hoped that i will get app2sd for my phone thats all but see now we have fully devloped gb rom and if we are lucky probably ics too thanks to great devlopers like doixanx, ratch, gravier(you saved me twice with your flash tool) and all the other great devlopers
even if I buy a new phone I would still love my X8 ...but only if it still alive
Nothing can replace laughing my arse out when people with their fancy htcs had much more problems and lags than me...
Ofc they weren't rooted...

X8 will never die... my first android phone...
My first android phone x16746798
Why I bought it? No I didnt it was a gift..First impresion not so good, compare to the other phones disaster. Then Columbo discovered xda forum and rooting then it was amazing transformation (new and beter custom rooms, multitouch, app2sd, fully working flash player...)
For this price there is no beter phone.
Now it's time to choose, which rom to use...
ahhh...
man, i could probaly see my phones life flashing through its eyes (its still alive dont worry i have 12 more months with this since its a contract im on.)
this phone has had its glory and now os moves on to ultimate stages where our x8 will not be able to compete in. i love my x8, its the first android iv ever had. my dad has an x10 mini so i got the insparation of an x8 from him but how our phone is obsolete. i will Always love my x8 but when my contract is over i will probaly het a xperia play or htc pr something like that
Its been a wonderful journey, but for me. I think my phone can last a few more months and that's it. Thanks to doixanh our phone is better than I could've ever imagened. 6 months ago, I never knew that I'd be running android 2.3.7 on my x8.
I love you SE,
but I hate the updates. You should hire. Doixanh.
Xperia 8 - Rooted - GINGERDX v018
yea x8 was a good phone but had it's grips for me MT was it !! (was a synaptic user)
so i just gave it to my brother and got myself a new handset and comparing it to the x8 it's a BLAST !
Well, yeah... X8 was my first android phone. I learn a lot, but there's still a lot of people here in M'sia using X8. because it's cheap. You can get it at around RM 400 (Around 129 USD).
Pretty nice smartphone. When it was announced, one year ago, I was thinking on getting it as soon as I could. But instead of it I got the Xperia X10, wich I don't have anymore...
So, I got X8 until now. I bought it last saturday, I got it in black with an extra case, black & cherry. It's a really good phone, small but cool, and with a Gingerbread ROM (GingerDX) I made it even better.
However, Im looking forward. If on December things go as I expect, I'd get Xperia Neo or Arc and give this master piece to my girlfriend, who needs a good phone. In case that I can't get one of those two, I'd stick with my X8 until next year when the new Sony Ericsson smartphones come out ("Nozomi", perhaps?)
