[Q] Wi-Fi to 2G/Edge/GPRS problem - Nexus 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have been facing a strange problem off late. After a long usage of Wi-Fi, the 2G/EDGE/GPRS does not work properly. I mean the strength is weak even though the signal is strong. I can Sync, use Twitter, Facebook but not WhatsApp. Messages sent through WhatsApp when I'm on 2G/EDGE (after long usage over Wi-Fi) does not send/get delivered fast unless I refresh, switch to and from Airplane mode or reboot.
Any solutions? The problem seems to be peculiar. I could not find any solution yet.
Thanks

No network connection on HTC HD2

I´ve got this strangest problem with my HD2. When I´ve only got a 3G connection I´m only able to surf the web with opera and check mails with the built in mail app. Marketplace, facebook and Google maps isn't even to think of, it just doesn´t work. These works when connected to a wifi network.
Anyone who knows what the problem might be?

what is wrong with you sirsmispi?
i don't know the answer but reading this guy's answer really annoyed me.
No automatic connection
I have the same problem. Twitter, weather, opera, nothing seems to work, except mail.
Data connection seems to be "frozen" in 3G mode. I have to take manual actions to "unfreeze".
I start conn manager. Phone and data connection are shown On.
I turn On airplane mode. Phone and data connection are turned off.
I turn Off airplane mode. Phone is turned On, data connection still Off.
I turn data connection on.
The phone connects to Vodafone live and HSDPA mode is displayed. All works well again.
Anyone have a solution? The "old" Always-On registry setting maybe?

3G not turning off with WiFi

Randomly when I'm on WiFi, I'll see 3G not disappearing which means I'm using double radios. Any ideas why it doesn't deactivate? Most of the time it works, but sometimes I need to turn off/turn on WiFi to fix it.

Some data is only accessible through your carrier signal, therefore you may notice 3g kick in while on wifi. It shouldn't happen all the time though like when just surfing the web. Does this happen in programs like browser while surfing?
How long are both on at the same time? I'm sure there's a few seconds of changeover time from one to the other. Also like XfooYen stated some things could require a carrier data signal, for example the A-GPS.

Connectivity issues?

I've found I cannot connect to Facebook sometimes, upload pictures to skydrive, or use xbox live, and find my phone only kinda works sometimes. Am I missing something? I set up my LIVE account and Facebook account during initial setup.
You are connected to Wi-Fi or 3G when you try these things right?
If you're using 3G while doing these things, it's possible that you are having some weak signal strength in your area which is probably not enough to connect to those services.
I've been doing these things over a strong 3G signal. The data connection drops in and out. Sometimes turning on airplane mode then turning it back off will restore data. However, it shows 3G the entire time. I have no visual cue that the data isn't working unless I try connecting to a service and it errors out.

Do you have the same issues with a wifi connection?

too much 3g data consumes

Hi to all, i noticed something, also when i have wifi activated i see heavy consumes of 3g data
What can be the problem? i disabled the feedback and the update check over 3g but the consumes are still there
In stand by there's no wifi, therefore 3G is going to be used on your syncs. Or maybe it's something related with yahoo again?

Android 7 / WhatsApp Web loses connection

After upgrading to Android 7, Whatsapp Web regularly loses the connection to my phone. After a few seconds, it reconnects, and is working again for a short time. STAMINA mode and ultra STAMINA mode are disabled. Any ideas?
Personally I have the phone WiFi losing the connection now and then. If that is the case the WhatsApp connection drops as well. Hopefully Sony will work on it soon, because it is pretty annoying. And yes, I did a network reset already.
After reading your message, I've tried a network reset. Didn't help, unfortunately. After that, I did a full restore with Xperia Companion. And that also didn't fix the issue. Still losing connection.
After installing WhatsApp Beta, the problem is solved.
