Replacing the battery? - One (M7) General

Probably too early to ask but will there be guides on how to replace the battery if need be? Maybe even how to add a larger battery to the one? I know there were guides for this with the razr line.

Depends on how its out together
If its glued then it may be difficult

Trying To Resurrect My Droid X

Hello everyone, I need some help. Hopefully I am posting in the right thread.
I have a Motorola Droid X and a few months back. I used a Modified SBF to be allowed to root my Droid X. It worked perfectly but as soon as I booted up. I had the dreaded ? in the upper right hand corner and my battery wasn't being recognized. So I thought it was a bad SBF flash, so I did another SBF back to the original version that came with the phone... Still wasn't being recognized.
I had to charge it using the McGyver method by cutting an old USB cable and blah blah blah. I don't know if that killed my Droid X, but what could I do to resurrect this thing from the dead. It won't turn on.
Also, the battery on the bottom... It seems soft or smushy... Could that be the cause of a dead battery? And I tried a different battery from an old flip phone, didn't fit but it still said it wasn't recognized.
Thanks again guys.
I believe you need a new battery.

They're very inexpensive from Amazon, even the extended battery is only about $15!

Did you by chance do the stripped wire charge with the battery still in the phone? Because that's a big no-no.

Strange, I've never heard of the McGyver method causing an issue when done correctly.

Reason I say that is because the stripped charger method can fry the battery if done too long. If the battery swells in the phone the pressure placed on the screen can permanently damage the display. May be only a 1 in 10 chance of it happening, but I sure don't want to be the 1!

Broken LCD Screen - Help Wanted

My girlfriend has a broken LCD screen after a nasty drop. The glass isn't broken, but there are black spots appearing on the screen and it looks like the LCD is leaking(?) or something.
I want to replace the screen, but I'm not sure what part I need. I think this is what I need and I think this is the process.

Yes, this looks pretty straightforward, but I just wanted a 2nd opinion. Can someone confirm this for me? Also, has anyone had a similar experience and if so, did you replace the screen and/or do you have any tips?
Here is a picture of the screen.
Thanks for everyone and anyone's help!

The part you linked from Repairs Universe is indeed the part you need.
Also, be sure to buy the specific set of tools required for opening the Droid X
There are several videos out there to help you tear down the device and replace the LCD.
If you have any other questions don't be afraid to ask

Thanks for the help, I'm ordering the part now -- here's hoping I don't screw it up.

Removing the Non-Removable Battery

For someone who is curious too about the non-removable battery of the G2. I have it on pre-order from Sprint but have had a bad feeling about that non-removable battery as I tend to notice batteries won't hold charges well after about a year of usage. I would love to see someone remove the battery from the LG G2 so we all could see how difficult it would be to change it out ourselves. I have seen the back cover removed and see the phone isn't all that much, but I would like to know how difficult it is for a user to remove the battery themselves from the G2 when it is time to replace that battery. Thx.
There is a thread on here somewhere about the battery being removed, you'll have to keep looking for it

Yes, I saw a post of the battery removed as well but it did not provide details beyond just removing the inside cover as well. It appears the battery is covered by several thin metalic connections that run over it. I am hoping someone has the guts to remove it and could provide their explaination of what all they had to do to remove it. Heck, I even read somewhere that to remove the battery, one must first spray it with super cold air, etc. So with so many unknowns on the battery removal, just hoping for some clarity on it. Thanks.
Just give it time I'm sure there is going to be a tear down of the phone at some point

[Q] replaced screen on xt912, wont power on

yeah its a first time question for me and I'm sorry if it has been covered, I did try to find it. So i replacdd a display on the the deivce and it will not power on or give any sign of life. I checked with my meter and its got roughly 3.5 volts which is good enough to power. any one have an experience with this and know the correct method of getting it to power on? tried volume down and power for ten seconds didnt work. I've got it on the oem charger now even though it has a charge.
Wrong forum... But maybe your digitizer isn't plugged in correctly? Our the digitizer was crack in the process of replacing it

Yea, I have replaced several on the xt910/912 may be an issue with the install check the ribbons for tears... ensure that there both seated correctly.. replace the metal cover over the connectors... did you replace the full housing or just the digitizer/ screen? Or Item may be defective... when plugged in you should still see the led flash green if all is well with the battery ( the ones I have done did)...

re: answers
yes, i should have seen some sign of life is what i was thinking as well. i replaced the whole bezel. no flash no green light and no idea. I do apologize for wrong forumn.only thing i can think of is that when taking the motherboard off the back of the display is maybe something above got damaged. i thank you both for your answers. is there a heat rip sensor on this model that would cause it to go into protected mode even though it was totally disassembled? i had used my separater to warm the adhesive to make removal of the baord easier
I'm unsure about the sensor... but I use a heat gun as well and never had issues with the Motorola's... i have 3 here one still on GB and the other two on jb.. if you know of a way to get me a shipping label I could send ya one if you think its the logic board or battery (screens are broken)...

Very appreciative man, but the riddle has solved itself. I have changed charging voltages every few hours from different usb sources to wall and to computer. it finally flashed n and i got life. I had a very distraught customer.(not to mention the guy who said sure gimme an hour) xda is a common answer to my google queries.I'm glad that i did finally join. :good:

[Q] remix ultra swollen battery

Swollen battery popped up screen. Still runs but hot - afraid to use.
I have to replace battery. Has anyone done this? or have Breakdown and replacement battery info?
Tablet Swollen Battery
I have the same issue. Tried to get a battery from JIDE. They wanted me to send the unit in, (spend about $200 in shipping). So I asked if they would sell me the battery and I would replace it. No, to they said it was dangerous to ship a battery. So I asked if there was a manufacturer I can buy one from.... Crickets!
Has anyone found where a replacement battery can be obtained from?
Any chance you could upload an image of this?

possible fix
Hey guys, it may be possible to take the old battery apart, and create a way to fool the UT into thinking that it has a battery (but you'll have to use it plugged-in only).
If you very carefully take the outer coating off of the two-cell battery that comes with the UT, you should be able to disconnect the batery management circuit from the dead battery cells. Jump the points on the left and right where the battery previously connected, with a carefully tinned and prepped length of wire, top to bottom on each side, but not across the board, and you might be able to get the UT working without a battery. I haven't done the soldering yet, because I haven't had time, but I'm guessing it will work.
Hope this helps. I've tried to find replacement batteries for the UT, but since they're a one-off, there are none, other than whatever Jide might have had. That said, I'll never use another Jide product, due to their non-support of the UT.
