For someone who is curious too about the non-removable battery of the G2. I have it on pre-order from Sprint but have had a bad feeling about that non-removable battery as I tend to notice batteries won't hold charges well after about a year of usage. I would love to see someone remove the battery from the LG G2 so we all could see how difficult it would be to change it out ourselves. I have seen the back cover removed and see the phone isn't all that much, but I would like to know how difficult it is for a user to remove the battery themselves from the G2 when it is time to replace that battery. Thx.
There is a thread on here somewhere about the battery being removed, you'll have to keep looking for it

Yes, I saw a post of the battery removed as well but it did not provide details beyond just removing the inside cover as well. It appears the battery is covered by several thin metalic connections that run over it. I am hoping someone has the guts to remove it and could provide their explaination of what all they had to do to remove it. Heck, I even read somewhere that to remove the battery, one must first spray it with super cold air, etc. So with so many unknowns on the battery removal, just hoping for some clarity on it. Thanks.
Just give it time I'm sure there is going to be a tear down of the phone at some point

Well, you know how when you take your battery out, you see those 4 prongs that are suppose to touch the battery so they can conduct electricity and such, well one of them are bent! I don't know how this happened but now I just feel like the more I have a battery in there, the worse the actual prong gets. I afraid that it will break off and my phone won't be able to power on.
I doubt HTC will cover this :/
Will get pics, just don't know when. But, if it does break off, is it NEEDED, or can it still power on with a missing prong since it still has 3 left?
I'm not an electronics engineer but I'm gonna take a stab in the dark here and say yes, you probably need all the prongs that the phone shipped with in order for the phone to function properly.

Probably not, its probably one positive, one negative and two extra grounding pins,
if I don't forget I will measure the pinouts on the battery when I get home for you
Bend it back. I have a slightly bent pin as well. As long as it's touching the terminal on the battery you have nothing to worry about.
I hope you remember lol.
And I want to bend it but I'm afraid that it'll break and I end up phoneless.

I had that problem, bent it back, problem fixed never worried about it again
My sisters g2 is randomly shutting off whenever it wants to its unrooted and I believe has the gb update should I try a new battery? Any suggestions are appreciated

Just switching off completely ? Could be a loose battery, try a slip of paper at the other end of the battery from the contacts, to see if that helps.
Is the battery an OEM (HTC) one ?

If you figure it out, let us know. My g2 does it once in a while, with 2 different batteries. I'd like to know too.
Mine (DZ) does too, now and again. I'm kind of resigned to it since the phone 18mths old now, and even if I sent it for warranty repair (2yrs cover in the EU) they'd wipe it and probably load some unrootable sh*tbag of a ROM on it.
I intend on replacing it when something better (with a qwerty) materialises, but that day hasn't come yet. In the meantime it would be nice to know what's causing my shutdowns - it's not software because it happens with any ROM I put on it. Is there any way to log and interpret hardware events like shutdowns?
I have the same problems!
I had the same problem, I've searched for ever and finally find why.
Mine was cause by a electric shortcut between the metal battery cover AND the ebay battery. Yes, under the brand sticker on the battery, there's some aluminum or something that can make a shortcut.
I just warped it in a cellophane plastic (leaving the 4 connections free, duh)
Any way, I dont want to be pessimist, but pretty sure thats not your problem...
Mine did that too back then. How I fixed it was, I had to calibrate the battery. But I did mine the rooted way, by using an app called batter calibrator by nema, it's on the market somewhere. But I think there's a way to calibrate the battery without root.
Hey, I know this is by far the most stupid thing I've done in a long time, so please don't point it out to me, but I traded my Galaxy S4 + cash for a G2. I checked out the phone for a bit to make sure it was fine, and so far it only has 2 issues, one of which I can fix.
1. The phone is an in-store demo unit, it keeps playing through Verizon's demo software, which I don't mind, I can fix that.
2. The phone's battery is dying, as in it's max charge yesterday was 37%, today it's 35%.
Now, I hate to ask this because I feel like a total derp, but is there anything I can do about the battery (I know it's internal, but is it able to be repaired)?
It isn't molded plastic so you can definitely change it. Haven't seen any threads on it yet though. As for point 1, try to get into factory reset mode and do that.

From what I heard and read the back cover is simple to remove. Just put your nails into the small gap between the silver band and the cover and move it along the edges, I'm sure the cover should come off. The battery should be accessible, not sure if you need to unglue it or solder it off, which shouldn't be a difficult task. Then search eBay for a battery replacement which shouldn't be hard to find just search for the Korean model of the LG G2.

The Korean model has a 2600mah battery, while the other models have 3000mah. It's not the same battery, it might not even fit.
Do you have insurance on the line? If so just have it replaced.
Sent from my VS980 4G using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
no insurance
I don't have insurance, but if I did, would it even cover my phone that has been swapped?
Edit: Also I contacted the seller and he said that the phone "requires" a special charger, which I know it says it's not the correct charger when I plug it in, but I don't think it "requires" the LG one, but I could be wrong I suppose, I am using a 2.0A charger from my old Note II
Have you tried to just do a factory reset on it to solve the issues??

Why would a store be selling off a demo phone of the latest model. Sounds very fishy.

First thing to check is to pop the back off and make sure your battery is fully plugged-in and seated firmly.

Remove the cover from the back of the device, and make sure the battery is plugged in firmly. A loose connection can cause these symptoms (this happened to me in the past).
This guide will show you how to remove the back cover, and has nice pics of the battery plug. https://www.ifixit.com/Guide/Nexus+7+Battery+Replacement/9895
You don't actually need a specific tool, you can just use your fingernails (if they are long enough) or any small, thin object to help pry it open. It's easy, just take your time and don't force it, don't want to break anything

Did you make any changes to the device before this happened (new ROM, kernel, etc.)?
If not it's likely a hardware issue.

Well, that might be why it was sold on ebay in the first place, or it may have been damaged in shipping. You should check out swappa.com for used tablets next time, I've had great experiences with sellers there.
You can always try a factory reset, or using a battery calibration app, or installing a custom ROM/kernel, and see if there's any changes.
It also may just need a new battery, though that involves spending more money just to test the theory. It may be worth a shot though.
That's all I've got, if none of the above resolves the issue, it's likely just a defect with the device.
Good luck.

Swollen battery popped up screen. Still runs but hot - afraid to use.
I have to replace battery. Has anyone done this? or have Breakdown and replacement battery info?
Tablet Swollen Battery
I have the same issue. Tried to get a battery from JIDE. They wanted me to send the unit in, (spend about $200 in shipping). So I asked if they would sell me the battery and I would replace it. No, to they said it was dangerous to ship a battery. So I asked if there was a manufacturer I can buy one from.... Crickets!
Has anyone found where a replacement battery can be obtained from?
Any chance you could upload an image of this?

possible fix
Hey guys, it may be possible to take the old battery apart, and create a way to fool the UT into thinking that it has a battery (but you'll have to use it plugged-in only).
If you very carefully take the outer coating off of the two-cell battery that comes with the UT, you should be able to disconnect the batery management circuit from the dead battery cells. Jump the points on the left and right where the battery previously connected, with a carefully tinned and prepped length of wire, top to bottom on each side, but not across the board, and you might be able to get the UT working without a battery. I haven't done the soldering yet, because I haven't had time, but I'm guessing it will work.
Hope this helps. I've tried to find replacement batteries for the UT, but since they're a one-off, there are none, other than whatever Jide might have had. That said, I'll never use another Jide product, due to their non-support of the UT.
