Petition for S4 features on Galaxy Note. - Galaxy Note GT-N7000 General

I'm a fan of stock android. But this time i think Sammy really outdone themselves because software features on latest S4 got me excited. I really like the health and smart pause features on S4. So i encourage devs for porting that features like those Multiview and smart stay before Samaung release it in official update. Thanks u devs. I think xda forum is the best to do it.

Wait long long. It will never ever reach the Note officially if not ever.
It's time for the One.
Off topic:
Don't forget Samsung sucks in their updates.
I look for every attention in detail and their widget is still not aligned properly.
I'm talking about the 5x1 widget. Not the ugly widget that they stick in your face.
As a designer myself, I find that horribly disgusting and completely unprofessional.

Either that, or I think you have the wrong idea about petitions.

What more do you want from samsung for ur note. Its over. Thank God u didnt request for a new hardware for the note.

Correct. What more, if S V or Note 3,4 keep coming.

In the best case, and to be realistic we can only ask for wallpapers, ringtones and live wallpapers from Galaxy S4. Notes is already old. If you want features from S4...just buy one.

ok, lets start with the wallpapers then ;p
Robbie might port some possible features ..theyll show up in his rom first

Yeah. See voice talk app v and t are small.
Not professional.
In gingerbread there was Music player.
Check settings, there are few headings with such mistakes too.
NOT big issues but finishing touch and overall quality is poor.

I would like to see feature updates available as a paid premium from the Samsung Apps store.
We have gotten our money's worth. Granted the Note N7000 should get 4.2.2 before the final chop on support, but beyond that, updating touchwiz, s-pen features and other Samsung exclusives could be easily done with a paid app update.
Remember how with Windows mobile 4 phones had a paid upgrade to 5? Maybe nothing so extreme as to be charged for an upgrade within the first two years of its release, but afterwards, to keep the phone fresh and new, I would gladly part with my hard earned cash.

Yeap, more efficiently. Look at Jelly Bean for our Note. Garbage.

I was making a mod today and noticed some code for finger air view (LSF) so its very possible that its either coming or possible for the note 1

Their not good at back porting, they didnt even made the desire hd into ICS. And htc only supporting their most recent flagship when it comes to updates. And whats worse they only update it ones

By the time SIV feature apps installed on Original Note (oNote) there isn't enough memory to run them. Good Luck!

you know why? Cause Sammy was just making a dirty port of Note2-JB to our Note 1...they were not interested in doing it properly just for the 'old' Note...
So these features will never come to Note 1 officially - they are just leftovers...

Yes, Samsung has told this before, not really a "news"...
But hey, thanks to CM we will get in touch with ICS soon (or now if you want to use an alpha version), so there is no reason to worry about samsungs decision
That's complete bull from Samsung. They're own problem that they put touchwiz on the phone, and the default interface of ICS is much better. Poor, poor excuse.
Yes we have less ram, but why is it working 98% perfect on my phone already?

At least they admitted that samsung developers are lousy and cannot optimize crappy TW for hardware will less RAM. So pathetic!
Still would go for a Samsung hardware phone, they're really good. Just a shame they won't be updating their older phones - which they are under no commitment to actually update.

i would like to just point out that not upgrading the SGS line of devices to ICS because of TW or some crap like that is not the right way to go Samsung. You have pooor coders we know that but leaving out the flagship phone (sold over 15Million, LOT OF MONEY) is just plain BS. if you are not gonna upgrade it then GIVE US THE PROPRIETARY DRIVERS for RIL and CAMERA and our devs will do it themselves!!! Mind you that after this fiasco i am not buying (and also whoever i know) another samsung product again. Dont tell me you dont recognize the force of xda members as a community.

I doubt the next one will be Samsung the first two were HTC ( the g1 was kind of a nexus) so they'll probably go with another manufacturer as they try and keep it fair
Sent from my GT-I9000 using xda premium
And some ppl called me crazy when I said it's most unlikely we will get anything official.
To hell with Samsung, the i9000 has been a disaster from the day it was released. If it wasn't for custom roms it would be in the trash already.
Amen to that
If at least Failsung will release the source so the devs can keep making more stuff for our beloved phone!
Isn't there anyone powerful enough here on XDA to bring this to the attention of Samsung? We have a powerful community here and the Galaxy S was a flagship device!
Listen, Samsung; we don't care about Touchwiz. Just give us vanilla ICS! That's all we want!!!!! Our phone can EASILY handle it!!!!
They admitted TW is memory hog and is simply slowing down our phones. Get rid of that quick.

Yes, this is the first phone that I've been pleased with performance out of the box, and I even, dare I say it, LIKE TOUCHWIZ! I did root it, but only to use adfree, lol, that's the silliest reason I've ever rooted a phone for, but Samsungs are so easy to return to stock & T mobile never checks the binary flash counyso I'm not worried. I hate ads that are in apps! When we do get an AOSP rom ill flash then, but as crazy as it sounds, it better be as fast as touchwiz or ill be going back to stock, haha. Samsung hit the nail on the head with this one, and touchwiz has alot of convenient features in it. Imagine if they would've rolled it out with vanilla android, and the added motion control, and other Samsung apps that are pretty cool? If samsung makes this year's nexus, it's gonna be off the hook with hardware like this!
Worked like a charm.
I picked up my Verizon pre-order today and am super happy with it. It's a great upgrade over my old Epic 4G (and the bump from wimax to lte speeds is worth the extra monthly cost of the carrier switch)
I've always purchased the galaxy series year after year, and this time Samsung has delivered with stock performance! Though I also like the new touchwiz, it's more "complete" than other launchers

Will the 7.7" ever get JB?

Ok so we finally got ICS for our tabs, but unfortunately we are already running behind as JB is already out or on its way to several devices. I was wondering if you guys think that we will ever see an OFFICIAL JB update to for our tabs. Please spare me the custom JB ROM replies, i am not asking or interested about that i am only interested in an official JB update. What do you guys think, possible or will Samsung forget about our 7.7" like they did with original 7" and just move on. Please share your thoughts on this.
I am hoping we can get Google Now on our tab, seen it running on the Nexus 7 and it is awsome, the Bitter UI would be nice as well but not a priority.

Same question will be asked after JB when Google releases Android Lollipop !
Just be glad that your TAB is working on ICS, and that alone will open the door for CM9 and even CM10 as there's no changes in kernel.

I use my Verizon 7.7 all the time as I fell in love with the size and the mobility. I sold my Asus Transformer Prime, because I was barely using it. So I am in an even bigger pickle because my tablet is through Verizon. I hate samsung and their development awareness. They take forever to bring updates and I really fell such a great and expensive tablet like the 7.7 will fall by the wasteside. I truly don't think JB will be coming out anytime in the near future. I still don't have ICS on this tablet, but I use a different launcher which helps with lag.
I would imagine that any new tablet in this size and with amoled would presumably debut either at IFA, probably not since Note 2 is coming at IFA, so a new 7.7 would appear at CES 2013, possibly with new AMOLED tech, making the device thinner, lighter and higher resolution screen.
I would say 95%

Exactly, who doesn't want that. I understand there will be wrinkles but with an active development community like this then the more people that are running the ROMs will help improve them.

Nobody in this thread is really complaining, but there have been ALOT of complaints in this forum due to limited dev support, but c'mon, we're early adopters! TRUST me, as this tech becomes more affordable, the dev community will be all over it.
There is MASSIVE potential to be unlocked with larger sAMOLED+ displays. Has anybody realised that human hands have never drawn, painted or written anything with such a pallette before? Sometimes I feel like I'm talking to the wind on this issue.
From what I can tell, 10%-20% of us are professional artists/photographers/developers. The rest of ya'll are just awesome enthusiasts...(professional in your own right, I'm sure)---
The strange thing is, we're spread out all over the world, and there looks to be less than 100,000 of us total.
Nobody I've talked to (I mean chatted with on here) knows anyone else, or has seen anyone else with one of these tablets. That makes each of us unique in our own social spheres. JB will come out within months through the dev community, and i'd rather see an AOSP/AOKP port of JB than another sammy-watered-down-whimpy-touch-wiz-fracked-wish-i-were-a-REAL-android-distro-CRAPOLA-"UPGRAYEDD"

I find a little strange that there was no 4.2.2 leak ...

With the S4 just weeks away from the final release presumably directly on 4.2.2 wouldn't have been a very smart idea to have something similar to that for S3 'accidentally' leak towards XDA so that Samsung could have many thousands of highly-qualified beta-testers iron-out most of the last-second surprises? Since the 4.2.1 leak was not looking very convincing to me, and it looked like it really needed more extra testing ...
I find a little strange that... Samsung still updating the S3
I find it a little strange how you expect someone to risk their job for you.

Well a common theory is that Samsung are themselves responsible for the leaks, or at the very least, very much aware of, but indifferent to their occurrence.
And it makes sense. So many development ROMs get leaked, it seems odd to think that they would have NO way to prevent, or at least reduce, them if they wanted to.
IMHO makes business sense, when you think about it...
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda app-developers app
I'm sure we will get a leak when they have something worth leaking, alpha testing is more than likely conducted in house, for obvious reasons, and I wouldn't expect a 4.2.x update for at least 8 weeks after the s4 release.
My opinion about leaks is that Samsung does use XDA for a cheeky bit of beta testing, when they have safe stuff to release, but I don't think they are stupid enough to release alpha stuff to the, let's face it, dubious skills of your average xda end user!
And if anyone did try leaking an alpha, I'm pretty sure they would get hung out to dry!
....but then I might be completely wrong!

I had it running for at least 3 weeks myself. The main reason I stopped using it was the battery life. I was getting about 4-6 hours with my 2500mah extended battery and would get pretty warm frequently. I have spare batteries, but it still got to be too much. I don't know if that was common for others, but I have a habit of running a lot of apps at the same time with push notifications and such, I think power management wasn't built out very well so it really impacted my use. The same apps and such get me about 8-10+ hours with the 4.1 roms (nearly double the battery life).
There were a few other little issues as well. I stuck it out longer than usual hoping some more 4.2 leaks would come out, but none did. Even the custom roms releases didn't offer any improvements, just the usual google apps updates.
Not a big deal, I mostly wanted 4.2 because I was hoping for camera updates, widget lockscreen, toggle panel, etc. I liked the widget lockscreen, but they didn't do anything with the camera. The toggle panel didn't prove to be that useful because the 25 toggle mod kinda does that just fine anyway. Other than the 4.2 improvements that samsung included from the stock 4.2 experience, I'm not really in any rush for a 4.2 rom on the S3. Other than smart stay and smart notifications, I really don't use many of the current S3 gimmicks and the S4 software gimmicks are just more of the same. Even google now is much more useful than s-voice.

I don't think you understood my post - I was suggesting that it would make good business sense for Samsung to make that leak (and some other posters have noted the same thing about the older leak).
The final S4 will face one order of magnitude more competition now than S3 did one year ago, so having bugs that result in many apps not working well or too much power consumption and so on would NOT be good for Samsung, and the only way to test that on a large scale (give that there are no large scale S4 deployment) would be to "fake leak" a 4.2.2 for S3 - which the S3 WILL get anyway in the final form at some point!
Usual is we get a leak its probably a beta test deliberate leak .
Then it takes a fair while before the genuine release rolls out .
XDA cheap beta testers .

i had two lg's and im not complaining about because i had lg im complaining because i had a nexus
thats why i said i was spoiled by it as i know Oem phones dont update as fast as google devices(lg and motorola are overkill)
good thing is that samsung is the best android maker(after google) with updates

You know we started recieving leaks for 4.1.2 when the note 2 came out so I am sure in a few we will see some good leaks.
Sent from my GT-I9305 using xda premium
But i do think Samsung will first release 4.2.1 without s4 feature and then release 4.2.2 with s4 features same like they did with s2 and s3 (4.1.1 and 4.1.2)
Because if they give us a update directly with s4 features it will affect s4 sales
Anyways it is now heard that android 5.0 is postponed and will not com in Google io so we gave plenty of time for 2 updates

Thoughts about the 4.3

Hi guys
This is for the ppl who are complaining about not getting updates.I just came from a 4.3 galaxy nexus to the note 2 and I just have to say that you guys aren't missing alot.
Believe me,only the notification bar changed (it became more like touchwiz),photosphere camera which I didnt use much and only some performance enhancement.
Otherwise my nexus device was getting really stale.
4.3 wont be that much groundbreaking in essence, what sammy will add on to it like n3,s4 features will make it different.
So here's hoping 4.3 will make our device even more awesome and not just some boring security update like google did on nexus devices
Cheers
Do remember that officially we're still on 4.1.2, so we're missing quite a lot like notification toggles, daydream, lockscreen customizations, etc. Also, the new update would help improve the current state of AOSP, CM based ROMs in terms of performance and more importantly battery life.

Im interested to know how the update would help aosp and cm roms. Would the devs use bits from the updated rom in their roms? The only reason I keep coming back to stock is because of poor battery life and other minor bugs. Plus the one handed keyboard and dialler. And also the stock slide to txt and dial is great

You missing one point. Galaxy nexus isn't tuchwizz based rom and it doesn't have samsung bloatware. That what makes android phones unique - their ui. Nexus is unique because it gets update first and other brands are unique for their software etc. So we going to get what u have + some new samsung goodies.

You are correct but I have to remind you that Samsung's 4.3 update is fully bloated with TouchWiz crap.
UI is totally different from the original android.

Disagree. Yes, the UI is totally different, but alongside the 'normal' Android 4.3 features (like notification toggles, daydream, etc...), we also ought to get some features we currently lack - the new SNote, the new SPen multitasking features (which I'm looking forward to very much!) and other stuff other devices won't ever get.

I used note 3 for 10 minutes, frankly you don't realize that you're using 4.3 unless you check the OS version.
Its A NOTE 2 , not like others s2 , s3 or even s4 ..... we have things others dont and wont have it like " S-Pen "
only good thing about nexus is fast update and look , others arent that great and its my opinion

Well Guys..
I think Samsung should learn from Apple atleast about the software updates.. Google is definitely going to launch 4.4 by year end and by March 4.5 or even 5.0..
But samsung will crawl along and fool us with voiding 4.3 and going to 4.4 and the same again for 4.5 and so on. eventually we will be stuck with 4.1.2 and wait for years for 4.4 or 4.5 or even 5.0..
Atleast apple has a theory of updating their iphones every year.
Remenber the saying.. TOO MANY COOKS SPOIL THE BROTH.. Too Many Handsets from samsung spoils the update lineup.. Just to give some time for the new handset to settle in. by the time the 4.3 update will be due.. expect news on Note 4 and again wait and wait for the crap touchwiz which required updates for note 2 after 4.1.2 update..
what the hell they are doing with the testing when they again have to update for hickups..
SHAME ON U.. SAMSUNG..
Even after having only 2 handsets in the lineup for Apple.. they are still on top and now Number 1 in the market.. Samsung has hundreds and thats the reason they cannot fullfill their upgrades..

You don't appreciate devs by sharing cracked apks..
And Samsung has to make an update for everyone.
That means it should have perfect battery life that everyone demands.
That means It should have the feature of s4&note 3 that everyone wants.
That means it should be completely but free and stable.
Either you expect that everyone is savvy enough to face and handle bugs or you think that Samsung don't face bugs or it isn't a part of development .

The fact remains it should be posted in the original thread and is not relevant to what is being discussed.
