[Q] noob question on updating stock rom with faux kernel - Nexus 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi
I am currently on root stock 4.2.1 with faux kernel and twrp recovery
Obviously i cannot use the ota update.
What steps should I take if I want to update to 4.2.2 and keeping all my app data and the 4.2.1 radio?
I tried to figure this out by reading but it just got to confusing...
Thanks very much in advance

The easiest way is to download an deodexed rom. Link below.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2010887
Download the deodexed stock 4.2.2 rom and flash it without wiping anything. This will only flash the rom and no baseband will be flashed alongside it.
Butttttttt some people have been having issues using the .33 baseband on the new 4.2.2 update. What issues? When they make a call, you can't speak into the mic and you wont be able to hear the other person. It's just mute. You won't even hear the phone ringing as in when it's dialing/trying to connect to the caller.

[HELP]Sensors (magnetometer, gyroscope, proximity sensor etc nowt detected!

Hi, I recently tried updating to the 4.2.2 via a custom recovery (CWM). I was on matrix v5 custom kernel so i flashed to stock kernel. I made a nandroid backup before i flashed the stock kernel. I went ahead and updated and it removed my root and custom recovery, so i re flashed CWM via adb and restored to my nandroid backup9i know i could have just rooted again, but i just wanted to see if there were any big changes in 4.2.2, like otg support).
The problem starts here, my N4 wont rotate, or do anything where the sensors are needed. The phone was working properly at the time of the nandroid backup so its not anything i did before. Any and all help is appreciated. Thank you

This has already been answered...I dont have a link but keep looking through this forum and you will find a fix. Unfortunately if I flash a 4.2.2 rom and flash the fix it seems to break wifi....Im sure it will be resolved soon.

EDIT: Fixed. I reflashed 4.2.1 from stock then rooted etc. Then flashed the 4.2.2 update. Everything works properly now.
Just to add something incase other look through this: The 4.2.2 update needs the updated baseband.
From http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=37977813&postcount=3:
4.2.1 Baseband = M9615A-CEFWMAZM-2.0.1700.33
4.2.2 Baseband = M9615A-CEFWMAZM-2.0.1700.48
Not Compatible - 4.2.2 Baseband With 4.2.1 Rom - Reportedly breaks sensors.

Currently on 4.2, can't update to 4.3 -- options?

Hey guys. I want to get to 4.4.2 but I'm currently on 4.2. I have root and a custom recovery, and my OTA updates are failing a verification check. The OTA is trying to update to 4.3.
Is there a zip I can flash to go to 4.4.2 without having to wipe my phone? Or do I need to flash in order? Or is my only option wiping everything and flashing stock (how would I do that)? If that's the case I'll probably just stick with 4.2. I want to skip right over 4.3 because that was a buggy mess for me that ultimately resulted in terrible battery life and broken apps. But I've heard good things about 4.4.2
bump..
Sounds like you want a flashable stock 4.2.2 build, right? Haven't tried it myself, but it seems this thread is where you want to look.
Use this : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2566042
It's a flashable zip of the 4.4.2 Stock ROM, only zipaligned (doesn't cause problems in OTA). Flash it through TWRP, and you're done. Good luck!

Root after manual update?

So I finally found some time for my unlocked and rooted nexus 4. Right now it is on 4.3 stock and I want to update to 4.4.2. Now the question which I couldn't find an answer on Google: Do I loose root after manual update? I've seen some videos on that, but some say that you need stock recovery (I have TWRP), but nothing about root.
Also, I'd install Franco kernel after that.
Help and possible tutorial would be appreciated, I'm still kinda new to android.
You can have a stock experience by installing the Experience ROM in the development thread.
Make sure you are running the latest TWRP before trying to flash a 4.4 ROM.

Yes, always when you flash another stock Rom, you will lose root.
But it's a matter of seconds to reroot after flashing latest supersu.zip through TWRP.

Have you updated your baseband and modem to match your new ROM? You need to flash them in desktop Odin, normally a few times in a row, and once you reboot your WiFi etc should be back.

Ahh, well if you still have the 4.2.2 bootloader then you'll probably have some WiFi/sound issues depending on the ROM you pick. You can always flash a 4.2.2 Based ROM to unbork your phone and then look for an alternative?

Returning to stock australian 9505

Hey guys was hoping to get a little help. I am currently running foxhound 4.1 on my S4. The baseband version is I9505XXUFNA5. Its OS 4.4.2. In the process of flashing this rom according to the instructions on the dev thread said i had to flash a different bootloader and modem before flashing the rom. This process worked fine and i have been running without issue. Work has now decided that they want everyone on Android 4.3 so we can use apps they made to make our job easier so i need to go back to 4.3. I attempted this last night and when i try to flash a 4.3 rom via cwm it returns an error saying that the bootloader is the incorrect one and fails and i have to reinstall foxhound again to make the phone usable. Any one know how i go about getting back to 4.3 or where to get the correct bootloader and modem so i can flash them via odin and then install Androind 4.3? Any help would be very much appreciated.
Cheers Jeff
Nobody can downgrade from 4.4.2
WTF really?? Cant i flash 4.3 bootloader and modem and then go back to 4.3?

Nope not at this stage cannot downgrade to older bootloader, sorry.
The best you can do is install a 4.3 custom rom. Try an echoe rom, version 12.1 the final bean I think should do.
