Hi, I recently tried updating to the 4.2.2 via a custom recovery (CWM). I was on matrix v5 custom kernel so i flashed to stock kernel. I made a nandroid backup before i flashed the stock kernel. I went ahead and updated and it removed my root and custom recovery, so i re flashed CWM via adb and restored to my nandroid backup9i know i could have just rooted again, but i just wanted to see if there were any big changes in 4.2.2, like otg support).
The problem starts here, my N4 wont rotate, or do anything where the sensors are needed. The phone was working properly at the time of the nandroid backup so its not anything i did before. Any and all help is appreciated. Thank you

This has already been answered...I dont have a link but keep looking through this forum and you will find a fix. Unfortunately if I flash a 4.2.2 rom and flash the fix it seems to break wifi....Im sure it will be resolved soon.

EDIT: Fixed. I reflashed 4.2.1 from stock then rooted etc. Then flashed the 4.2.2 update. Everything works properly now.
Just to add something incase other look through this: The 4.2.2 update needs the updated baseband.
From http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=37977813&postcount=3:
4.2.1 Baseband = M9615A-CEFWMAZM-2.0.1700.33
4.2.2 Baseband = M9615A-CEFWMAZM-2.0.1700.48
Not Compatible - 4.2.2 Baseband With 4.2.1 Rom - Reportedly breaks sensors.
Not Compatible - 4.2.1 Baseband With 4.2.2 Rom - Reportedly breaks in-call audio.

The easiest way is to download an deodexed rom. Link below.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2010887
Download the deodexed stock 4.2.2 rom and flash it without wiping anything. This will only flash the rom and no baseband will be flashed alongside it.
Butttttttt some people have been having issues using the .33 baseband on the new 4.2.2 update. What issues? When they make a call, you can't speak into the mic and you wont be able to hear the other person. It's just mute. You won't even hear the phone ringing as in when it's dialing/trying to connect to the caller.
I have a question for y'all experts lol :silly: i got my nexus 4 over the weekend and am already rooted with SuperSU, and am running TWRP as my recovery. the problem I am having is with flashing roms/radios. I tried installing toasted marshmallow (here) and had the following problems. after running the awesome wipe script, I flashed the rom followed by infernogapps and rebooted. After waiting about half an hour, the phone was still at the bootup animation. So I shut the phone off restored to the stock image and tried to find out what I was doing wrong. I saw something about 4.2.2 radios and tried to flash the fko1/fko2 radios prior to reflashing. the flash came up FAILED, saying that there was no md5sum and there was an error within the samsung packages? i tried to reflash the rom anyway, once again with no success. ANY ADVICE WOULD BE HELPFUL as I would really like to try out this rom. I'm not new to rooting or flashing roms or anything, however I am no expert and this is my first time attempting to flash roms to this particular device.
--Thanks

Now if i wanted to revert to a rom that is based on 4.2.1, would these radios cause issues? If so could you link me to radios that would work? Thanks

Hi All,
First post ever on xda Hope this thread is where it should and nobody posted something similar (I checked)
I'm running 4.3 JWR66Y and everytime I try to install Paranoid Android 3+ (pa_mako-3.99-RC2-20130920 or pa_mako-3.93-20130805)I get a NO SERVICE and UNKNOWN BASEBAND.
I do a factory reset, I have the latest radio and bootloader, install ROM and GAPPS, wipe cache, dalvik, reboot and the result is always the same. Wifi works, but there's no baseband and no network.
I backed up and I restored back to stock 4.3, rooted, and everything works fine without the PA.
Does anyone have/had the same problem, or know how to fix this ?
Should I downgrade to 4.2.2 ? (I get annoyed with the "there's a new system update bla bla")
thank you and hopefully someone can help me out.
thanks!
Fede from Argentina.

i saw somewhere that lastest cwm / twrp are causing issues , try with different versions(like if not on lastest update it or vice versa) or use philz cwm or multi rom twrp.
Hello all,
So this is my first time needing serious help.
Almost 24 hours ago I wanted to flash a new ROM on my i9505 just because it was time for an update.
I downloaded the 4.2.2 leak in order to install the Echoe ROM according to THIS and THIS instructions. It all went fine but with no sound and wifi.
I tried flashing different kernels and modems but nothing helped, wifi was working sometimes when I installed other 4.4.2 custom roms.
Basically I'm not new to flashing custom roms but this time I have a feeling something bad happened.
I think since I installed the 4.2.2 leak I got no sound.
Currently I'm on the Echoe 4.3 "Final Bean", my Modem is I9505XXUFNA1 - and still no sound.
I'm totally lost now right now because I spent hours of looking for a fix or working ROM but with no success.
Hope someone can help me q_q

Flashing that file can either Fix your Sound/wifi and etc if you have newbootloader, and Flashing a Wrong LTE aka Wifi fix/NON-HLOS will break your sound if you have an oldbootloader.
Old bootloader = you can't flash any newer LTE modem than UBMH1.
New bootloader = you can flash all the new LTE modems

Thanks for your quick response. The reason im asking is because im rooting my S4 tonight (not my first time rooting) that is running 4.3 MK2 and im still a bit worried im missing information as far as what can and cant be flashed after rooting. Ive read up on KNOX and have decided im not going to stress over triggering it but I dont want to end up with any other issues like the OP mentioned.
My plan is to root w/ CF Auto Root, Flash TWRP via ODIN, and then flash Beanstalk 4.4.2 via TWRP (efs and nandroid backup made somewhere within these steps).
If done correctly, can the above process cause any issues?
How would I downgrade to a 4.2.2 rom if I wanted to?
Thanks a lot for your help

Your plan should work fine mate but you can no longer downgrade into 4.2.2 after flashing a stock 4.3 rom. and if you flash 4.4.2 stock Kitkat in a future you can no longer downgrade to stock 4.3 . but you can definitely flash a custom 4.3 rom, as well as AOSP and CM11 Roms
Edited. Fixed
No Sound
I have Wifi but no sound...
Came From Omega V27
Tried the Modem explained in this Post, but nothing changed..
What can i do...
CanĀ“t use Youtube, Phone etc..
Using Echoe Rom 2.2 KitKat
I have a GT-i9505 that I've been running the stock Jellybean Touchwiz 4.2.2 ROM on since forever (I9505XXUAMDD). I recently discovered compatibility issues with some updated apps and decided to give the latest Touchwiz a spin. Since my phone is rooted i couldn't get the update via OTA so I downloaded the latest Touchwiz ROM (I9505XXUHOL2) and flashed it manually. It went well but I didn't really like it and I didn't have the time to set everything up again so I restored my original setup using a nandroid backup but now things are all wonky. I can't mount my SD card and wifi won't turn on. I suspect this is because the kernel is still the one from the 5.0.1 flash while the ROM is back to the 4.2.2 one. Under the about device menu the android version shows 4.2.2 and the build number is the original I9505XXUAMDD but the baseband version shows I9505XXUHOL2 and the kernel version shows 3.4.0-431985. In addition when booting up the phone it shows the "SEAndroid...kernel" message in the top left corner; not sure what this is.
Is there a way to remedy this or am I SOL and forced to use a later version of Android? Thanks in advance!
Edit: So further research suggests it's actually the Baseband version that is causing the problem so flashing the correct modem should fix it. Could someone please show me which modem is correct for I9505XXUAMDD? Also, will this fix the kernel message I keep getting? Thanks!
You can't downgrade from lollipop that easily
There's threads in general relating to downgrading
Could be a mismatch between the phone bootloader and baseband. What bootloader version and baseband is on the phone? If they match, it could just be that the bootloader and modem are too new for the rom.

Yeah, I realize that now. I put too much faith in the nandroid restore. I had tried out the JFLTE-GPE ROM once before and a nandroid restore reverted the device without issue so I just assumed it would do the same in this situation. I will look into the downgrade process.

I was under the impression that a nandroid restore would flash the bootloader as well but my faith in nandroid backups isn't what it used to be
Guess I'll have to look for the appropriate bootloader and modem for the ROM.
You can install the Samsung Phone Info app from the Play store to confirm your bootloader and modem.

Wifi is out so I don't have access to the play store
I used the terminal emulator to check the bootloader version and it's indeed still on I9505XXUHOL2. I've read somewhere that once a newer version of the knox bootloader has been installed, attempting to flash back to the 4.2.2 bootloader will brick the phone. Is this true?
Thanks again!
I don't know about the 9505 but you can't downgrade on the s3, i337, and note 2.
Personally, I would flash back to stock to make sure everything still works.

Will do. I'll pull up the I9505XXUAMDD from sammobile and give that flash when I get home this evening. Thanks again!
So I flashed to stock I9505XXUAMDD but the wifi and sd card issue remains and the bootloader still shows up as I9505XXUHOL2. Not sure how to proceed.
I'm starting to get the feeling that 4.2.2 is a lost cause...I guess downgrade on GT-i9505 is not possible.
Edit: Baseband version is now I9505XXUAMDD and wifi is still not working.
Update: Flashed to I9505XXUHOF2 and everything seems to be all peachy keen for now. Will update again once I restore all my apps and data.

No it's not. It's not possible because you cannot downgrade the bootloader.
Perhaps you can still go back with 4.2.2. custom rom but in my opinion it's really not worth it. It's not worth to stay on an outdated version with all the security vulnerabilities. I would recommend anyone to use CM because then you can run the latest software on your phone.

Thanks for confirming and thanks for your input :good:
I really did enjoy the Jellybean experience on the S4; going to Jellybean from ICS felt like an upgrade. I feel like that was the best match for the phone and it just went downhill from there (as far as the S4 is concerned). I suppose it's time to move on.
Update: All apps and data fully restored and it seems stable save for some small quirks. Not liking Lollipop though.
