I have a fairly new (rooted) Droid Razr M and I have been trying to download the update to Chrome, which is only 20MB. It downloads completely, though as soon as it hits 100% a window appears telling me that I have insufficient disc space. However, that is not true.
I have 700MB used / 3.90GB free on my internal disc, so I don't understand why I can't download a 20MB update..
I have also tried to download a new app, Easy Cache Cleaner, to possibly help with this dilema and even that wouldn't download. Plus, it's only 640KB!!..
I've already tried clearing the caches for all my apps, then restarted. Cleared even more space, but didn't help with my issue. I am simply stumped.. Can anyone offer some advice or suggestions??
Thanks!

Hey everyone I installed smart app protector and wanted to get rid of the ads so I used lucky patcher. Then I decided I just wanted to use ad block, so I uninstalled the app and tried to reinstall to get it back to the original. Well when I try to reinstall it it gives me the space error. I can install any other app but this one. I tried clearing data on play and services, clearing all cache, and tried installing from the actual play website. I haven't tried side loading it yet as I couldn't find a download. I also tried re-flashing the stock ROM but I didn't clear my user data. That obviously also unrooted my tablet. Anyways any suggestions?
Edit I have 3 GB of free data and I tried side loading, same error. Anyways something had to of got messed up in the file system related to this app.. Maybe some sort of left over file or something? When using lucky patcher I noticed it said something about odex file? Maybe it left an odex file or something?
Try:
Rescan SD
https://play.google.com/store/apps/...1bGwsMSwxLDMsImNvbS51YmVydWxsdS5yZXNjYW5zZCJd
Not exactly sure what that's sposed to do but I installed it opened it then tried installing the app lock and still gives me the error. By the way I forgot to mention I have 3 GB free data.
Ok, next thing to try:
Delete all browser history/data/cache.
Empty your downloads folder, use a file explorer and not the actual downloads app.
Also delete all files/folders relating to AdBlock that you can personally find.
Also Clear Data/Cache etc from GooglePlay and Play Services.
Reboot.
Re-download
Install.
Let me know how you get on
Hey I got it fixed. I got a lucky patcher update and when I opened it it said removing unused odex file, then I was able to install it again..
Something to consider about apps which are designed specifically to assist in the defrauding of others:
if the developer has no regard or consideration for other developers, it is a certainty that they will have the same disregard for you.
And you gave them root on your device; good luck with how that all turns out.
RE: error insufficient storage on one app (not others)
Remove odex file that app from root/data/app...
The file will be named like "com.appName...-1.odex".
OR
Just run lucky patcher..
Yesterday as I was trying out games that were compatible with my new bluetooth controller, I tried downloading The Dark Knight Returns (since it was a compatible game and I had purchased it when it was on sale some months back on the Play store). Well, apparently I did not have enough space to install the game unfortunately. So when it seemed as if it was near it's finish downloading, there was an error message that was on the status bar that let me know I did not have enough space. So the file did not finish downloading or installing. When I exited the install, i noticed that the storage space error was still present. So I restarted the phone. Still had the same error message and very minimal storage available when I checked the internal storage. I cleared the cache of the Play store, tried clearing dalvic cache on Titanium (wasn't sure if that'd work) and also looked in Root File Explorer for any files that may have been installed by the game. Couldn't find any files so I was unsure where they were located, but the storage was still low. I uninstalled one more app, went back to the play store, tried to continue installing, and it finished install this time. Then I quickly deleted the game and my storage space was back to normal. My question is this. Is there any way in the future where I can delete this data without having to complete an install? I am rooted on JB 2.1.1. I have Titanium Backup, Root Explorer, and some other tools. This storage error has happened on a couple different occasions and I'm wondering if there is still some partially downloaded app data still on the phone somewhere using up space. I have been unsuccessful in my search for an answer to what seems to be a fairly simple problem, but then again maybe I'm not looking in the right place. Any help would be great!
Thought this would be an easy one that somebody would have solved. No?

I would assume its partial download data... No idea how to fix it other than guesstimating your free space and how much the app needs tho...

I'm going to try to do that, but my estimation of available space is not always correct since some apps require more space than necessary to install. I'm referring more to what has already been done so that I can remove anything that may currently be partially installed or downloaded.

I'm getting the play store "insufficient storage" notice (for almost every different app I try) despite having 8 GB of "free" internal storage and 20 GB of "free" ext. SD storage available. I unsuccessfully tried all the following supposed fixes:
Cleared Play store cash/data before and/or after a forced stop and including uninstalling play store updates.
Forced stopped "Google service framework"
Recovery->>cleared cash partition and dalvkc cash
Re-installing Gapps
running app cache cleaner
However, I WAS able to install grooveshark.apk apart from the play store with no problems.
Could this have anything to do with a LCD resolution change?
Any further assistance would be greatly appreciated, as I sick of factory resets, and am under the impression that even a factory reset may not fix the problem.

I had the same problem on my Nexus 7. If you use ES File Explorer don't forget to enable root browsing otherwise you won't see the folders.
This is what you need. You have to delete the folders for the apps that won't update in /data/app-lib/APP-PATH(that has this error)

Double-check your link there, that's the link to the latest firmwares.
Anyway, use your favorite root file manager (or adb/terminal, if you're feeling brave) to do the folder delete.

Spot on. My mistake. Thanks.
Did someone say steak?
Ok, I'd like to start off by apologizing for a stupid post, but i need answers and I think this can help.
So let me explain my problem. I recently tried to download 3 'big' apps from the playstore not realizing I had only about 400 mb left of storage; obviously after I finished the downloads it showed a warning stating that I had insufficient space. I cleared up some space but even after having 4 gb of space, I couldn't download even one though they were only about 1 gb each. I figured that I needed more space so I cleared even more to have 19 gb of space, but the when I tried again, the same error showed up. Out of options, I decided to reset my phone after backing it up, but now even with all this space, the apps that I tried to download while I had no space still show the same error.
Hoping for quick replies or to talk with people who experienced similar problems. Again sorry for the stupid post.

Yes, i have tried both, yet nothing seems to work. I also recieve random errors when downloading some apps.
Did you mean you have factory reset your phone? Or reboot?
In any case you can try to Clear Cache or Clear Data for your Google Play app.
If this does not help, there might be a problem with your Google account? Try to delete unneeded apps from 'My apps' list. Or try to add another account to your phone? Then download again.
Are you using a MicroSD? If the answer is yes, How much space is left on that?
I have factory rested my phone; No, I'm not using an SD c
card

Well, I tried using a new account and I realized the apps i tried to download were blocked in the country I'm in. (I'm in China for vacation) I'll update everyone to see if the problem is fixed. Thanks
Got my OP8P a week ago. I have since rooted and installed Nethunter and have had a great time
Recently started getting the error that i have "insufficient storage" and google play will no longer install any apps. Even if i delete an app it says it cant install.
Now im stuck without two apps i wanted.
I have cleared cache and storage on google play and still the error persists. I have restarted numerous times.
If i download the APK it installs fine
I have 160GB free on my phone so its a bit disappointing
Any ideas?

Check under settings (within phone) / apps / Google play / permissions / storage
Also does it have the right to install apps.
Guessing you're rooted, turn on systemless and reboot.
So it has all needed permissions. And I've already installed a few apps from the store
I tried the "systemless" from magisk and rebooted...no dice
So weird, it randomly started working today. I can now download apps off google play.
I nearly cried tears of joy.
To all concerned i did nothing out of the ordinary besides install APK's manually from apkpure.com
Interestingly enough when i downloaded spotify it wouldnt open. just kept crashing
after downloading from google play it opened right up
Glad you got it sorted! cheers
Well just when i thought i was in the clear....
it came back. but worse this time
Now when i get that error my phone seems to loose its storage altogether
by that i mean once it says insufficient storage on google play my pictures will ALL disappear
if i go to the file explorer it tells me there is NOTHING on my phone at all
if i reboot it will start working again but then will usually fail once i get an error regarding the oneplus system service
still trying to figure this out. i may roll back to Oxygen OS 11 (vs. 11.0.2.2)
"insufficient storage" on youre Google?
On the phone you have alot.

It is now affecting me outside of the play store. I cant take pictures and when i use file explorer (the oneplus app not root file explorer or any third party app) it says i dont have any files at all
This can only be fixed with a restart and it seems to come back at random times. hasnt done it it a while but im sure it will
