I'm trying to capture games via an MHL adapter into a Roxio HDMI capture device. Sadly Samsung decided that all content output via the mhl has HDCP content flag turned on!
Which means Roxio wont capture the content, its a bit annoying that Samsung flag every bit of content via the cable and not just movies.
Does anyone know of or can a developer code up a hack to remove the flag or is it hardwired into the MHL dongle?
I've heard of a way to use a HDMI> DVI then DVI to HDMI to strip the flag but really don't want yet more hardware in the way.
Any thoughts or ideas appreciated folks though something tells me this roxio is going back and Ill have to get a dedicated hdmi capture card from blackmagic.. you know the ones hollywood uses and dosent have HDCP bonkers!

Hi Guys,
Perhaps this is a stupid question. I just wondering whether we can use the USB cable of our beloved HD2 machine to connect to TV so as to watching the movie stored in the machine....
Does anyone knowing about this....

there are tv's out, which are able to use usb sticks or hard drives and watch some movies..
there are also dvd players
so if your tv can handle a usb storage it is possible.
but directly from micro usb to hdmi will not work.
if you want s.t. like this, you need to buy a phone lige evo 4g, which has an hdmi output.

This won't happen. The USB port on this device is not physically capable of supporting this.
Hey does anyone know of a HDMI to VGA/dvi adpater that works and can be used to connect the device to a computer monitor.

It will depend on the capabilities of your display as well though. I have two monitors with DVI inputs (no HDMI in my house yet, sadly) and from what I can gather the reason I can't get a picture on them is that neither of them are new enough to support HDCP. When I hook it up to either, the displays and the A500 detect a connection, but I never get a picture. Using cables recommended from other threads on this forum, and tried three different HDMI-to-DVI adapters, and no success. Just an FYI. If anyone knows any differently by all means correct me
well a friend of mine had an old hdtv and didnt want to unplug any of his hdmi devices, but i tried an hdmi-dvi adaptor, and it didnt work at first, but then he changed the refresh rate on his tv and it worked. I dont know how helpful that will be to you
Plug into the tv first then plug into the Acer. I tried this and it worked. Having cable plugged into Acer A501 first just meant a blank screen. Idid have it Hdmi to Hdmi though...
Took me a go or two to work out....
If you don't mind spending some money (ca. 50 euro here in Germany) you can also try a HDMI to VGA converter. These devices do more than just giving you a dead analog and patched-through digital signal (which is what HDMI/DVI adapters do) and need their own power supply; however, they give you a genuine analog signal and separate audio, both with reasonable quality.
If your monitor is an older model, the problem may well be that it relies on the analog signal to be present... if that's the case, you'll need a converter anyway.

I have investigated VGA compatibility at length and unfortunately there is no way, other than using a converter with a power supply, that you can go from HDMI to VGA i.e. digital to analogue.
Someone told me HDMI to DVI to VGA - but that would never work.

Just got my Nexus 10 and I tried to connect the Mirco-HDMI out to my LG 42LD420 tv.
However, screen is all black and nothing happens. When I connect to my new PC screen HDMI port the image is mirrored instantly and it just works...
So I guess theres some new standards in Micro-HDMI that my TV doesn't support?
Just wanna clear this problem by making sure its my tv. And btw, other devices works just fine on the tv HDMI port...

Whenever HDMI has problems it's usually HDCP that is the culprit.

I just ran into this the other day myself with a Samsung TV. I thought maybe it was the TV was only capable of 720p or something...
I'd get sound through from the N10, no picture though.
Also tried an MHL cable with my GNex and nothing as well.
Both devices work no problem on either of my PC monitors, and the PS3 has no problem with that cable/port on the TV.
Are there any workarounds?
My quick search indicates that it's possible that it can be cable specific? ie. Will work for some devices but not others? Does that even make sense?
What kind of an adaptor do I need to connect my nexus 10 to my TV (it's an older TV, not flat screen, not HD. I don't care about losing the HD, just the size.)

Micro HDMI to HDMI, DVI, or maybe even Component (not 100% sure on that). If the TV doesn't have any of that, then you'll likely need an Analog converter to go from HDMI to VGA, Composite, or RCA.

Check your TV. If it has HDMI, you want micro-HDMI to HDMI. If it doesn't have HDMI, but does have DVI, you'll want that.
If it has neither HDMI nor DVI, you'll need a new TV Or an HDMI to analog converter.
Nexus 10 to CRT TV connection
I have a nexus 10 tablet running stock 4.4.2. I bought an hdmi to rca converter from amazon.com and a micro hdmi to hdmi cable so that I could hook up the tablet to my old sharp crt tv. When I plug in the connections I am seeing a stripe coloured screen that says 'no signal ntsc'. when i turn the switch on the converter to pal it says 'no signal pal'. Could you tell me why this is happening and if anything could be done so that I can see the content from my tablet on my tv? Do I need any software/app installed to make this work? The only ports on the tv are the composite rca ones. I know the tv is old but its its 55 inches and in perfect working condition so I really don't want to purchase another so please if there is anything you know that would help I would be more than greatful.
My setup: the microhdmi to hdmi cable plugged into the micro hdmi port on the tablet, then the rca cable connects to the back of the tv and the rca ports on the converter. Should work?? Help me please. Thanks in advance.
I gather the Zenfone 2 has MHL capability - high definition video and audio (up to 7 channels) output to HDMI via a USB MHL cable/adapter. Has anyone tried connecting to a TV by this method?

GSMArena says that it did have MHL, but everyone who has tried had not gotten it to work, so I'd say it doesn't have it.

Good job I didn't buy an HML adapter I saw yesterday then
I tried to compile in Moorefield's HDMI into my kernel for fun the other day; not so great.
Phone booted up, but said that there was an hdmi connection ( without connecting anything ) and started overheating fast.
I'm guessing that there might be an hdmi connection on the board somewhere that connects to the microUSB bus, but it's soldered/jumpered over.

I think, it's full-featured HDMI connector reserved on SoC (in case if used in Android TV dongle), not MHL.
There is Intel WiDi wifi display service integrated in the Rom. How can we use that for wireless display to a pc or android/smart tv?
Mhl didn't work, tested and asked in zentalk, online chat support and in xda..
But i seen an apk with name hdmi don't know what it is for
