[Q] TV adaptor for nexus 10 - Nexus 10 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

What kind of an adaptor do I need to connect my nexus 10 to my TV (it's an older TV, not flat screen, not HD. I don't care about losing the HD, just the size.)
Thanks!

Micro HDMI to HDMI, DVI, or maybe even Component (not 100% sure on that). If the TV doesn't have any of that, then you'll likely need an Analog converter to go from HDMI to VGA, Composite, or RCA.

Check your TV. If it has HDMI, you want micro-HDMI to HDMI. If it doesn't have HDMI, but does have DVI, you'll want that.
If it has neither HDMI nor DVI, you'll need a new TV Or an HDMI to analog converter.

Nexus 10 to CRT TV connection
I have a nexus 10 tablet running stock 4.4.2. I bought an hdmi to rca converter from amazon.com and a micro hdmi to hdmi cable so that I could hook up the tablet to my old sharp crt tv. When I plug in the connections I am seeing a stripe coloured screen that says 'no signal ntsc'. when i turn the switch on the converter to pal it says 'no signal pal'. Could you tell me why this is happening and if anything could be done so that I can see the content from my tablet on my tv? Do I need any software/app installed to make this work? The only ports on the tv are the composite rca ones. I know the tv is old but its its 55 inches and in perfect working condition so I really don't want to purchase another so please if there is anything you know that would help I would be more than greatful.
My setup: the microhdmi to hdmi cable plugged into the micro hdmi port on the tablet, then the rca cable connects to the back of the tv and the rca ports on the converter. Should work?? Help me please. Thanks in advance.

[Q]Output to VGA

So, let's be honest....90 % of all beamers require a VGA input (only a few work with dvi-d or usb) Now, the transformer offers the mini hdmi output....how to resolve it as I would like to use my device for presentations...
1)buy a mini HDMI to HDMI cable and then a HDMI to VGA converter (expensive)
2)buy a USB to VGA adapter, which will not work as the tablet itself has no USB interface and if it had one, it would probably not work with Android...
Any other solutions?
Regards,
Tom
i'm responding under the assumption that beamer = projector, so yea, #1 is your only option.
although i question the your whole 90% statistics. most new projectors come with hdmi and dvi now.
but for a mini-hdmi-to-hdmi-to-vga setup, checkout monoprice.com. it'll probobaly run you 10-15 bucks.
I don't need a signature.
Mini-HDMI to HDMI adapter -> HDMI to DVI cable -> DVI to VGA adapter
I think thats the best combo you can get, lets you reuse the HDMI to DVI for something else if you need to and the DVI to VGA adapter is always useful too.

HDMI to DVI

Is it possible to connect acer iconia via micro hdmi to pc monitor dvi. I tried with dvi converter but no signal, connecting to hdmi works fine.
I have a DVI connection on my tv and I can connect some things that are hdmi with the hdmi to dvi adapter and some things will not work.
So maybe and maybe not.
does not work for me
Using a pretty decent Sony LCD TV with both dvi and hmdi inputs - hooking my a500 up via DVI adapter results in no signal, where as plugging into the HDMI port works great.
I am far from an expert at this, but I *think* if you want to use DVI you need some form of hardware converter box to result in a useable signal. I am sure I will be corrected if i am wrong

Check here.
I would bet you DVI converter doesn't match the TV input.
There are 4 possibilities, DVI-I & DVI-D, both available in single or dual band.
I believe HDMI has to have one of the dual band converters, for HD and to pass the HDCP info so that protected content can play.
I went through this a couple months ago with my computer and TV set-up, DVI is a total pain with HDMI because of the HDCP requirements.
Also verify that your monitor is HDCP compliant, if it's not I believe you are out of luck. It needs that connection before HDMI will transmit.
I try to connect to 22" pc monitor at work, I have no interest connecting to tv via dvi since hdmi working great. With same dvi adapter I connect my laptop hdmi out to pc monitor dvi works great but iconia hdmi out to the same dvi in no signal. Some of the pc monitors are a acer and some dell result in same no signal, I really like to duplicate what I was doing with my laptop to use large screen at work but I guess that doesn't work.

[Q] A500 to Computer monitor not working

I have a...
micro-hdmi -> hdmi cable,
adaptator F/F Hdmi
then Cable HDMI to DVI
because the monitor only has dvi and vga so i had do it this way.
But when i plug in the micro hdmi on the tablet it recognizes its plugged in but nothing shows on the monitor, its just black - but the tablet recognizes its plugged in via micro hdmi
This works on a hd tv just wont kick my monitor on
Anyone else had this problem or can help me?
Thanks,
Collin
Sounds like it's the monitor. If you're connecting to a DVI on it then it maybe that the tablet needs some sort of communication back
from the monitor that is only possible through an HDMI... since it's 'smarter' than a DVI. Probably...
Try using just the microHDMI adapter to a HDMI to DVI cable. All in one... you know HDMI on one end and a DVI on the other. So you end up with just 2 cables/pieces. Good luck!

[q] usb to av?

Is it possible to display video and audio to a television that does not have an HDMI output? Please help, I been looking for cables to buy online however, I do not want to order the wrong cable and be out of luck. I am looking to stream videos from the tablet to a television through the use of an AV cable
Micro HDMI type d I believe to AV cables would most likely work if such a cable exists

yeah i think i might be out of luck !
Do an amazon search for either Micro-HDMI to component/RCA for an SD TV or to VGA to a computer monitor. If you can't get a male VGA/RCA to a female HDMI or male micro HDMI then you'll need a double female HDMI adapter.

[Q] Will mirroring still work if I use Slimport with an adapter?

Hi,
Does anyone know if Slimport will work if I use a hdmi to vga adaptor/cable on the other end?
As in: Nexus 4>Slimport>HDMI cable>HDMI to VGA adaptor>Monitor.
Thanks
Don't take my word for it, but there is no HDMI to VGA adapter, you'd need a small converter box. Even with that box, I don't know if it will truly work.
What you could do for sure is Nexus 4 > Slimport > HDMI to DVI Adapter > DVI
Ah ok thanks. Searching amazon I see that they have HDMI to VGA in one single cable. do you think that would work?
Slimport to HDMI-VGA adapter didn't work

I tried what you mentioned but didn't work. I thought it was a "power" problem so I connected the power supply cable and didn't work either. I tested slimport and HDMI to DVI adapter separated and both work so I don't know what could be the problem.
I bought this HDMI to VGA adapter: Search for "Black HDMI Input to VGA Adapter Converter For PC Laptop" on Amazon, I cannot post external links yet
Problem might also be Slimport requiring HDCP... but I don't know if that is actually the case.
