Is my keyboard creating Facebook lag? - Nexus 7 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello, I have noticed a huge amount of lag or freezing while making posts on the Facebook app while on my nexus 7. I will click on a post to comment, start typing, and it will freeze.
I am using the swype beta 1.4 or the new swift key.
Thing is... This is also happening on my galaxy s3. Doesn't seem to happen with the stock keyboard though.
Anytime else?
Facebook app's fault?

News & weather app FC in every ICS ROM

Hi
Does anybody know how to solve the FC you get when you touch the circled i in the News & Weather app? I'm getting an FC in every ICS ROM I tried. Same problem with a different Nexus S.

What app?

It works for me. I'm on AOKP build 23 and the theme from etoy. Brings up a temperature graph or something.

I have also had that same problem on every rom.

Same, on leaked stock 4.0.4. odexed. Fc every time.
Try some of the ones in the G Nexus forums. I have the one from Black Exodus (I think that's the name) and it works fine. Or download AOKP Rom and pull it from there. The guy in the earlier post said his worked.

I think this FC is caused by 2D acceleration. I'm on stock ROM and it works fine right until I turn the acceleration on.
If it works, star this issue http://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=24357
I'm using CM9 all the time. Never faced FC on that apps

I use the application on a daily basis. No issues whatsoever. On stock ICS 4.0.3.

Twitter app updated: Lag almost gone on our Galaxy Note

Some hours ago Twitter updated its app for android. Now the lag is almost gone in my Galaxy Note.

I think it is still way too laggy. Seesmic is so much better!

Yeah, twitter is now MUCH better! Thanks for the heads up. I was using the Android Pro Widgets on my desktop the whole time. I would have never noticed if it weren't for this thread! hehe. Thanks!

Keyboard swipe bug with 4.2.2 update?

Not sure if it's maybe unique to me but after the 4.2.2 update, when I'm using swipe typing with the stock keyboard it no longer inserts a space automatically when I finish entering a word so I have to keep pressing space in between swiped words. Anyone else noticed this, or have any suggestions of something else that may be causing it?

Works like on 4.2.1 for me

It's working fine here...
Do you have any mods installed? And which kernel?

I notice the same. It's only in certain input types though. I've noticed it happen in SnapChat and the Chrome search bar.
I just flashed the latest PA, 3.0, and the swipe text input has gone for me too.
I haven't got any ROMs or anything like that. Still plain old stock android. And yes actually it seems to only happen in certain apps like chrome. Talk and WhatsApp are fine. Anyone got any ideas?

Haha just got it. Nice
Mine seems more buggy after the update. Sometimes skips letters when swiping. Mostly works though. On stock not rooted. No other keyboards installed.

Mine has spaces every where excluding the URL bar on any browser .
This is happening for me too but I only notice it in chrome search. It's pretty annoying and only since 4.2.2
Anyone any the wiser on this yet?
It works fine for me. Perhaps it is a bug with some unrelated options? Try changing some of the settings and see if that changes something.

Hmm can't really think of where to find settings to change. Any suggestions what type of thing to try?

Keyboard is extremely laggy

Hey guys,
I just bought a brand new Nexus 4 from Google Play and I rooted it first with AOKP but now I'm on CyanogenMod. Within a couple of days my keyboard started to become so laggy that it just crashes while I'm texting or writing an email. I switched ROMs and I installed kernels to see if anything helps but after a few hours it gets back to the same problem.
I don't know if I should unroot it and go back to stock. Or what I should do because this is extremely annoying.
Any sort of help would be appreciated
Thanks!

Could it possibly be with anything else you install? I've never had a laggy keyboard before. Are you using the keyboard that comes with the rom or installing your own? I'll use either the stock keyboard or SwiftKeys.
Also do you have a large dictionary or other addons?

Thanks for your reply. I just have normal apps like Facebook and music players. I am using the keyboard that comes with the ROM itself, and no I don't have any addons or anything.
I'm really thinking about unrooting and then rerooting it again to see if that helps

I just find it weird because I've had absolutely no laggy keyboard at all with my Nexus 4 (with either stock/rooted or with this SlimBean 4.2.2), using either the stock keyboard or SwiftKeys, it's a pretty powerful phone too so even swiftkeys with it's predictions shouldn't become laggy. I suspect there's something else amiss especially if you have this problem on more than one rom.

Thanks bro but I'll just try unrooting/rerooting to rule out any other problems

lol, root isnt the problem. unrooting it will amount to washing your cloths because your car is leaking air out of its tires. but, it can be cm. 1st, try just deleting the keyboards data in the main phone settings, app, all, then delete the keyboard apps data. if its not fixed, then boot into recovery and wipe your dalvik cache and cache. if still not fixed, try a different rom or different keyboard.

KitKat + GEL launcher = slow piece of crap

I'm running unrooted, stock KitKat with GEL launcher and it's slow as hell.
Screen transitions, any changes to icons, Google now everything is slow as hell.

You might want to check other possibilities. I am using GEL launcher without significant slowing, a hitch here or there, but nothing too horrible.

Then don't use gel launcher. Use the stock one or nova beta which is themed like gel. There already threads about this. No reason to make a new one just to say it sucks. Anyways it's not meant for the nexus 10 so unless someone or Google optimizes it for our tablet it won't work well because of all the transparency

Well, you have nexus 5, you should know how fast it is running. Nexus 10 is not even close to that. It actually reminds me Samsung device bloated with touchwiz.
Sent from my Nexus 5 using xda app-developers app
Think about it this way. The device has to draw the entire screen 2 times one of those being a transparent layer while animating it... that will task any device... wouldn't be surprised to see the new N10 come out with 1080p just for this issue.. I don't think any SOC that can handle this resolution with transparency

Use Nova Launcher beta with transculent. Working great and smooooth
I take my words back. After "S" update the tablet seems to back being responsive again, even with GEL launcher.
I've recently tried Note 10.1 2014 and even though it runs on latest hardware its dead slow 'cause of touchwiz overkill.

Which zip did you flash to get translucent enabled?
