I just reset mytouch 4g phone and during restart the recovery screen just come out but I can't move down or up anything on the screen it just stuck..
I just update cm to version 3 of something
please I really need help on this my phone is already S-off
when I plug the phone with USB it response something by HBOOT has changed to HBOOT USB PLUG
I use Stock Rom just update Kernal only
Need more specifics. "3 of something" is too vague.
If you flashed clockwork mod recovery 3 (the text is orange) while using a stock ROM you will have issues. Clockwork 3 is for gingerbread based ROMs only.
If that is so, download CyanogenMOD 7 RC1 and try to flash it. Rebooting may help get recovery working right again. If not, and you are unable to re-flash a ROM, you will need to use fastboot to re-flash a good recovery image.

In clockwork you use the trackball to navigate. Volume buttons won't work.

no response on trackball too. it just stuck on this screen and can't move anywhere....any solution
Your attached image is of the Bootloader, not CWM Recovery.
The Bootloader is controlled by volume up / volume down to move between selections, and the power button is used to select.

You might see if the Bootloader can communicate with fastboot on your PC. If so, you will have options for un-bricking from your PC.
See http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=928370 for info on installing adb and fastboot to your PC, and using them.
Fastboot is designed to communicate with the bootloader. As far as I know, however, adb requires a functioning Android or Recovery system.

One more question, after following your advice, I found that I now can restart my phone again but when I shut down the phone and turn it on again it still stuck on bootloader screen all the times...any suggestion would be appreciate...
You can "restart my phone again" -- is it running Android at that point? If so, you can restore your phone to stock, and do a full factory reset, by putting the P15IMG.zip file on the root of your SD card and rebooting. The bootloader (if it is functional) should find it and begin the restore procedure.
Dowload, rename this, and stick it on your SD card, and reboot. If after a successful return to factory defaults, your phone still isn't working, the problem is likely not software.

Hi,
My I9100 behaves quite strange.
I am unable to perform factory reset (using code from keypad or command from settings menu) - the phone reboots, goes into recovery mode where I can select wipe data/cache. Doing so has no effect on my phone, after another reboot the I9100 restarts in the same state as before factory reset.
The other thing is that I am unable to format interal memory. After using command from settings menu it says that memory is disconnected, formated, and after that all data (pics, mp3s, etc) are still available.
Also I am unable to flash ROM with any stock (tried KE4 and KE7) or aftermarket (Lightening) software. I tried Odin with and without PIT/Re-partition, also with no effect. The phone boots into previous state nevertheless confirmation in Odin that flashing completed successfully.
And the most aggravating thing is that after I reboot phone I am loosing all the recent data. The phone is booting in the state from before couple of days, with no recent messages etc. Thanks to Google account sync, the mail, calendar and so on re-sync properly, but it is no good solution since pictures, todos etc are gone after reboot.
I believe the thing started to occur after unsuccessful update to Twitter. Tried to do Market cache wipe (as suggested for similar cases to I9000 users), but also to no effect.
Have you any suggestion what else can I do?

Stuck in boot loop - No Recovery mode but can flash using download mode
I am stuck in bootloop. I cant access recovery using Vol Up + Home + Power but I can access Download mode and flash roms using ODIN. But no use. Everytime its stuck in boot loop and either the initial boot logo flashes or it stays stuck at the boot logo. Can please someone help. I read all the comments and lot of people having problem being able to get into Download mode but not in Recovery Mode. I would appreciate if someone can post a detailed response as to how to get rid of this issue.

Wipe data and cache from recovery then flash a rom, you will lose everything not backed up
There is a guide about howto fix this, search first next time
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA Premium App
im sure there is another thread around he with 2 people in it that had the same problem as you, flashing via odin or cwm and then still ending up with the same firmware as pre flash.
i'll see if i can spot it and post it here, i dont know if they got it sorted or not tho.

Hey bud,
If you can get in to download mode then it should be ok, id try 2 things.
Go over to the the original android dev section and grab the CF kernel that was for the firmware installed, boot in to download and flash it via pda in odin, then try recovery again.
If that doesnt work, then download a full firmware from samfirmware and flash the main 3 files (Modem/CSC/Phone) and that should set your phone back to retail fresh.
ofc another reason could be your volume up button is broken

Oh, sorry, missed that, my bad
As said, flash cf root and see if that helps, if not check that your volume up key works within the os, if not flash to stock, and reset flash counter with a jig and send in for repairs.
If it does, cf root comes with an app called cwm manager that will allow you to reboot into recovery that way.

Please I really need some help! I think I've totally killed my nexus 10
I can get to fast boot but cannot flash anything. As soon as I try and say flash TWRP I get "FASTBOOT STATUS - DATA005fe000".
I've tried using the stock firmware and using flash-all.bat but get the same issue. The erase commands work, but then command to flash the boot loader gets the same issue.
I'm hoping I'm going to get flamed for not searching, 'cause that means I've missed something, but I've tried to search to no avail.
PLEASE HELP!!!!

That's how I got into this mess! I tried to unlock and then root my tablet.
It rebooted and wouldn't pass the nexus X logo.
Now I can't flash anything.
In the Nexus Root Toolkit it says that if all goes wrong try Odin.
I've downloaded a version (I'm familiar with it from my Galaxy S), and got the drivers working... does anyone know where I can download the tar files?

Did you get a chance to do the first twrp factory data reset? If not you may be able to boot into recovery mode and try a manual factory reset..
If your tablet is on, power it off.
Press and hold Volume Up + Volume Down + Power until the device powers on. You should see an image of an Android lying on its back.
Press Volume Down twice, until the screen says "Recovery mode."
Press Power to restart into "Recovery mode." You should see an image of an Android with a Red triangle after a few minutes.
While holding down Power, tap Volume Up
Use the volume keys to scroll to "wipe data/factory reset" and press Power to select it
Scroll down to "Yes - erase all user data" and press Power to select it
for some reason with wugfresh the first twrp factory reset failed on 2 out of 3 tests. I had do just do the manual factory reset above and all was well. Good luck! :good:

By using 4.2.0 (rather than 4.2.2) and trying the flash stock and unroot option I can now install CWM or TWRP as a boot loader.
I installed CWM and did a factory reset, then retried the above. This got the data error when installing system and then when finished got a file veririfcation error in the fastboot status. When I reboot I just get the Google logo and the unlock at the bottom.

Re: [Q] Bricked my nexus 10!
Not to be rude or anything but toolkits are the devil when it comes to Nexus devices. They are so easy to root and ROM that anyone can do it. Toolkits encourage ignorance to what and how things are getting done.
For starters go Google the fastboot files for the Nexus 10. Google Fastboot.exe and add it to your system folder on windows if you are using such.
Extract the downloaded "manta....." File and then extract the zip file contained.
From here make sure you are in your boot loader and type "fastboot devices" ensure your serial shows.
Then one by one go into the extracted folder and erase then flash each partition EXCEPT the bootloader. Don't mess with that at this point. After flashing the recovery, system, boot and data files reboot into the recovery and perform a factory reset. It should boot from this point.
On Manta, you MUST do a factory reset after flashing the data partition or unlocking the device. For some reason it fails to boot without performing that step.

Yeah after my experience with toolkits I have leaned that the google sdk fastboot is the best method and you also learn the fastboot/adb commands and what's actually happening step by step.

Ok, given all the feedback, especially with regards to corrupt items, I dug out an old laptop and was still getting the same problems, re-downloaded the 4.2.2 image and tried again.... and was more patient this time, and voila! back up and running!
Thanks to everyone who replied, I would not have persevered without your comments.
Lessons learned:
1) On Manta, you MUST do a factory reset after flashing the data partition or unlocking the device. For some reason it fails to boot without performing that step.
2) For me the downloads seem to have been unreliable, try, re-try, cry, weep, try again, punch the desk until your knuckles bleed, try some more and eventually you'll get there!
3) Be VERY patient. I was less patient than my normal impatient self when I saw how super lightning fast the N10 is.
Thanks again to everyone.

Hello,
I'm having a issue with Custom Recovery.
I've tryed to install both (CWM and TWRP).
The thing is when I turn off my device to
turn it on again pressing Vol Up + Power + Home I got a message saying "Recovery Booting". But the recovery doesnt start, instead my phone vibrate and begins to boot normally. It doesnt enter in custom recovery mode.
I was hoping someone could help me on this.
My device:
Stock ROM
Root (Edited to get rid of Custom status)

Does anyone know how to unistall a custom recovery or have any idea why this is happening?
By the way I followed this steps

have you tried re-flashing the recovery?
Have you tried downloading one of the simple reboot tools that let you choose to reboot recovery?
Thanks for the help guys.
So I tried enter in recovery thru CWM option (Restart in Recovery) it worked.
But it doesnt work when I try manually (vol up + home + power). I really dont know why.
I'm afraid flashing a custom rom doing this way, because if something goes wrong I wont be able to acess the costume recovery.
Is there a way to unisitall the custom recovery?

This is actually a common problem for some reason. There's an easy workaround:
Long press the power button and choose "power off". Give your phone a few seconds to turn off completely. Once it's off, press and hold these 3 buttons at the same time: POWER+VOLUME UP+HOME. Look at the top left of the screen - as soon as you see little blue text saying entering recovery, let go of all buttons immediately...but be ready...if your phone vibrates (it might be trying to reboot normally again), press and hold those same buttons again until you see the blue text again...then let go immediately. Now you will see your recovery!
Alternatively, when I'm not on a custom ROM that has the reboot options mod built in, I use this app to get to recovery/bootloader easily:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.siriusapplications.quickboot
HI
I have the i9505 samsung s4.
I managed to root it via odin, and flashed the Team win recovery as part of the process. I downloaded root checker and it shows that the device is rooted.
However, when i turn the device off and then try and boot to the custom recover I am finding it impossible.
I hold the volume down, home key then press the power button and keep them pressed. THe phone keeps going to the odin download mode and no further etc. However, I can get to the custom recovery via rom manager. What am i doing wrong??
Using rom manager is fine, however if something goes wrong during a custom rom flash then i will need to use the buttons to boot to custom recovery
Please help

If you flash Philz recovery you can boot only when you turn off your phone and by Hold and pressing Power+Volumeup . Im Guessing your asking the Extended Power menu Option by Pressing Power and choose restart > There should be Reboot Option IE Reboot,Recovery,Downloadmode. Mate is your phone rooted? If you want an Extended power menu option try to install WannamXposed , and Enable it from there, Make sure to follow hes Tutorial. Have a nice day.
