How to check for email in SLEEP mode??? - Windows 8 General

I got ThinkPad Tablet 2, running WIN8 Pro and Office 2013. Is it possible to have Outlook wake up the tablet in order to check mail and play audio if there is any mail? or have the tablet to wake up if there an instant message? or how do I program the tablet to wake-up every so often to check for mail (instant message) and go back to sleep?
Thanks for any help,

Confused by calendar reminders on HD & PC

Hi,
Until today when I had a calendar reminder appear I would get a window on my HD and also one on my laptop. I had to dismiss them both separately.
Now, for some unknown but good reason when I get a reminder on the laptop and on the HD I can dismiss them both by ONLY dismissing the laptop one.
For me this is strange but good behaviour. Until today I had to dismiss BOTH the reminders.
I don't know what I have done to make this work !!
Has anyone also experienced this and did they do something specific to make it work ?
Regards, D.
Was your phone connected to the laptop when you dismissed the reminder in Outlook?

Yes, but it has been in the past.
My thread is only about when the HD and PC are connected via ActiveSync.
Always in the past I have had to dismiss the two reminders when connected.
Now, for some reason, when I dismiss on PC it also goes away on HD.

Connection question

My HTC Touch HD is configured to get my mail from 2 mail accounts and also 1 RSS feed. It is set to check every 5 minutes for e-mail, and RSS feed once per hour.
Most of the time, when the phone is on the table, it does not give any notification until I pick it up. Then the new e-mail or RSS sound is played. This happens only when the phone is on the table, not moved. When I am moving and having the phone in my pocket, it works fine. Is this having to do with the G Sensor? Can anyone tell me ?
Thanksss!!!

Chaging outlook send/receive interval to 2 minutes

Hi,
I have just updated to a windows 6.5 htc diamond2(htc pure) phone and previously i was using htc mda III with windows 5. My rom is default offical rom by at&T.
I am facing 2 problems regarding automatic sending/receiving of emails using new outlook on window 6.5(htc diamond2):
1) I cannot enter send/receive time interval into an input box as there is no option for this and i have to select the time interval only from dropdown list, which include send/receive Every 5 minutes, 10 minutes, 1 hr , 1 day and so on.. But i want to use outlook with automatic send/receive every 2 minutes and this option is not there is dropdown list of new outlook. Previously in windows 5 , there was a input box in outlook settings where we can ourself enter a numeric value for setting the time interval in minutes after which phone automatically send /receve mail. So any idea how to add send/receive every 2 minutes option in dropdown list of outlook in windows 6.5?
2) Previously when my phone display goes off(maybe phone goes in sleep/standby mode) after few secs of non usage the automatic send/receive part of outlook was still working in background and i use to get email message even when phone was in pocket , but in windows 6.5 i have to tap and wake the phone up manually and then automatic send/receive will work if the phone is awake. So automatic send/receive will not get emails when phone is in sleep/standby mode. This seems to be a big problem it was not there in windows 5. Any idea how to resolve this part?
It seems to me that window 5 was better in regards to above to 2 points. can we install windows 5 on htc diamond 2 ?
Any help in rectifying the above problem will be highly appreciated.
Thanks in advance.
can anyone plz help with this
can one plz help with this, is there any registry changes that can modify this?
Thanks

Push Internet delivers when the e-mail hits the server, why set it to 2 minutes? What is the purpose?

Push Internet has nothing to do with this. All it does is refreshing the content of your HTC Sense bookmarks.
Back to the topic: I wonder what was your battery life with every 2 minutes of checking the emails, 5 minutes are more than enough IMHO. If not satisfied, try switching to some push mail solution, bad news is that the only officially supported stuff is MS Exchange (which is not free). Other alternatives don't seem to be stable and, you can't rely on them.
I use WM 6.5 myself on my Topaz and the problem you mentioned about not getting the emails while in sleep mode doesn't seem to be present. My emails arrive all the time, in a 30 minute interval (just like I set it). This seems to be a reg tweak made by ATnT or something. I suggest you to reset your device to factory settings and if it doesn't help, simply switch to another ROM. I use the Dutty's Holy Grail and I'm very satisfied. Contains the latest Sense from HD2 and runs pretty fast and reliably.

Yes, you're right, what I meant was Push Mail, through gmail as exchange server.
I do not set my device up to check at intervals, it gets pushed to my device when the e-mail hits the google server.

[Q] - Exchange settings, best note taker with sync

Hi All!
I agree with most people that I go back and forth about how much I love or hate my Xoom, but I willing to wait it out a few more days.
Two things that would help:
1. I have set up my exchange email at work. I love the new mail app for the most part and it syncs well. However, why did they set it so that pictures within the email appear as attachments and one inline? My DInc shows them inline - why can't Xoom? Also very annoying...when responding to meeting requests, I can deny, but I don't have the option to not send a response which I prefer to do since I'm on a list, but don't generally need to attend their meetings. That is, I get all their meeting request, which I would decline, but the sender doesn't need to receive notification of my declining.
2. I'm looking for a good way to take notes in a meeting and have it synced to something. Ideally something I can have directly on the home screen, so it can be one-click. What do you guys use? So far, I've tried:
a. Dropbox (but I dont think it syncs up)
b. Google docs via DocsToGo - not a bad option, but it's several clicks to get to a screen where I can write
c. A direct link to a google doc, but this requires internet connection
any ideas?
much appreciated.
I don't have my xoom yet, so I am not sure if Evernote works or not. I have it on my Captivate and it is great. It syncs to Evernote's servers and you an access anywhere.
Evernote works on my Xoom.
Sent from my Xoom using Tapatalk
I'll third Evernote. I use it constantly.

SMS

Hello hello
I'm looking for a tablet SMS app that works
I've found one or two but seems they have issues
Any reccomendations ?
Looking to forward or sync or what have you from HTC desire HD to a500 wifi
So I can use my tablet to respond to or create text messages
Thanks guys
which ones did you try out?
desk sms - can sync between phone-computer-tablet
mighty sms - does same thing as desk sms but i dont think it can sync with tablets
textab - it syncs with bluetooth. syncing with my hd2 with android and my a500 was flawless. if i receive texts, i also get it on my tab and vice versa. only downside is that is uses bluetooth. so if you are worried about battery life it might not be for you
google voice- obviously u send text with your gv number not your mobile
textplus - free sms but its through another number they give, which is free
i have tried all of these. out of all of them i highly suggest desk sms or textab since they sync with your current number. although desksms has a yearly rate.
hey thanks for the reply
Yea its an un rooted a500 lol battery can be an issue
not sure if we can root it yet since the update
Anyway
Textab seems to be the winner for me desk SMS I couldn't find but if it has a yearly rate forget it.
Don't suppose anyone remembers the reliability and range on Bluetooth lol
I'm gonna take a chance on the buck 99
Thanks friend
Try SyncSms, uses your dropbox to sync text messages between phone and tablet and vice versa. Flawless...
Sync SMS and tabtex both work
Another vote for Syncsms.
You need a free dropbox account, but other than that I've got no complaints and I've been using it since I bought my A500.
tablettalk works great for me
Just loaded up Heywire last night and it seems to work pretty well.
