Hi,
I've been experiencing an odd problem with my Nexus 7 and I'm unsure of the cause. I've searched extensively for similar issues, but I've come up empty and I'd like to determine if my problem is a hardware issue so I can take advantage of the warranty if so.
When running certain apps, most notably Simpsons: Tapped Out and Final Fantasy Dimensions, my touchscreen begins to have responsiveness issues. It's almost as if I have to long press every input on my screen to make it register. Oddly enough though, the Android menu buttons are still responsive and function perfectly.
I thought it might be a graphical issue, but after trying games like Metal Slug 3 and Six Guns, they don't seem to have the same problem. All my other apps work flawlessly besides the two I've mentioned above, but I have not been able to find anyone reporting a similar issue.
If anyone could offer any insight or point me in the right direction, that would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I think it's the app's problem. Happens to me too in Subway Surfers, especially later in the game when things are quick

Hey all, I actually love the Nexus 7, but am infuriated by it to the point of it being unusable.
Yes - it's unlocked, rooted, etc. Fully updated, and STOCK OS, though (besides the root, of course).
If I use it for more than a few minutes, the digitizer stops recognizing input - swipes, taps, etc. It's like it just ignores it for a few MS and then remembers "Oh yeah, you DIDN'T want to launch that bird yet..."
Here are a few videos - working and not working.
I think it's heat related (for me), as I just ran Quadrant, and it happened towards the end of the process.
Here is it working:

And here is after a few minutes of Angry Birds / Cut The Rope (not even a Prime95 scenario!)

Anyone else?
This person is also experiencing similar problems.

Thanks, yep, same issue. Mine is going back for a refund, waiting teething issues out. Bummed.
Mine is doing the same thing. Multiple touches sometimes cancel each other out . Making it impossible to play games with dual sticks..

While these games have beautiful graphics and appear to be stable, one common issue I've noticed with both games is that every so often the character will swing around like 180 degrees. I think I came across at least one other person with Nexus 7 that reported this issue. Anyone not have this issue? Other than that annoying issue I actually like the games. Running stock 4.1.1.

You may be suffering from this issue. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1789450
Watch the video and you'll see why you are having this issue.
I've had this problem slightly with Dead Trigger. I think it has something to do with the control scheme, where the area that is used as a virtual thumb stick to move your player also can be used to turn the view of the player, and causes you to randomly turn when you're trying to move. This may not be the problem, but it's what I've noticed.

Happens to me too with Dead Trigger. Pretty annoying when zombies are trying to tear at your flesh...

Thanks for the useful link. I don't want to jump to any conclusions yet but will try to replicate with other games from other publishers to determine if the issue is confined to just Madfinger games (Shadowgun THD and Dead Trigger) or if it's across the board.
Just had a thought if it's somehow related to display autorotation. I know if I launch the game in portrait mode it will switch to landscape mode where it prefers the USB connector end on the right side. But since my charger is situated on the left and due to the shortness of the cable I force autorotation where the USB connector is on the left side and the position that the 180 flip issue in game has been occurring. I'll play the games some more in the preferred landscape mode with USB connector on the right to see if I can replicate it as that will give a better idea as to root cause. Interesting that there isn't an option to disable autorotation.
I've never experienced this and I've played dead trigger quite a bit... I also tested for the problem on the video and thankfully I don't have that problem either.
*Edit* it took me a while to replicate but I do experience the issue on the video. I'll play DT some more and see if I can get it to happen.

I've had this problem playing DT as well.
Switched to a controller and it's more fun that way anyway!
I've noticed the same issue sometimes when playing Dead Trigger.
This is not specific to the N7 or Dead Trigger, I've always had this problem with Shadow Gun and now with Dead Trigger. This is on more than one device. (Kindle Fire CM9, Galaxy Nexus, Droid X ...etc)
Just an update. I bought Max Payne and GTA III games from Rockstar publisher with similar controls but they don't have that 180-degree flip issue. So, it seems Madfinger games like Dead Trigger and Shadowgun have a software bug in their controller code. I ended up liking Rockstar games better anyhow for the story line and game play and lack of in-store purchase nag like in Dead Trigger. Relieved that it's not the Nexus 7 or JB 4.1.1.
I have installed SGT7 Build 1 and I can no longer replicate the issue. I will be testing this more to see if this is a software issue.
They just updated the 180 degree turn. According to their update today. Will report if any 180 reoccur

so I just got my nexus 7 and I have a few questions. The screen seems to Be smooth with the bezzle and I haven't noticed any flickering so for now I think I got a good one. But if someone would be as kind to answer these I'd be appreciative.
I have a galaxy nexus and it Seems to be all around faster and screens transition faster than the tablet, considering how Powerful this is that's weird. Anyone else noticing this isn't as lightning fast as thought?
Why doesn't this have a rotate screen option?
Does anyone have a link to regular browsers apk and a working apk for Flash?
I see everyone talking about ps3 controllers, is it possible to use a Controller?
first of all: I'm pretty impressed about how smooth and fluid everything works on the n7... coming from a singe-core phone the n7 experience regarding smoothness is just awesome...
still I found an app that not even the n7 could handle entirely smoothly: Pocket (formerly known as read it later)
giving it a good swipe in the grid view yields a not-so-smooth scrolling experience... don't get me wrong, it is still okay-ish and perfectly usable, but it is easily noticeable
I don't know whether it is due to the amount of stuff I got in there (I guess about a hundred links) or due to bad programming, but I'd like to know if you guys experienced other apps performing not so well on the n7?
N64oid but its probs due to lack of dual core support. Shame really

Not sure if you mean apps that are supposed to work, or those that you have to cheat with.
PaperPort Anywhere says that it is incompatible, but if you can get the installation file it works, with the exception of the ability to 7upload photos. That crashes the app.
I have owned an ASUS Transformer Prime for over a year now. I like its design, the detachable keyboard, microSD. The screen is only 1200x800, which is not unusual for an older device. The biggest problem for me is its sluggishness: switching apps can be very slow, browser freezes often. When you type something in Google search bar, there is a lag of a few seconds, before the typed letters appear. It is becoming more and more annoying. People on the Prime forum have concluded long time ago that there is an I/O problem, most likely due to slow memory chips used. I'm getting fed up with it.
So, it is time for me to move forward and get a new tablet. I have a Nexus 4 phone, and my partner has a Nexus 7 tablet. Both are very smooth and nice. Hence, it would be only natural for me to get a Nexus 10. Specs are great, I'd really love the screen resolution. I also like pure Android system, without bloatware and with quick updates. I haven't read much of this forum, but I hope the Nexus 10 is smooth and fast.
On the other hand, I really like my keyboard for occasional typing. It sits on the side table next to my sofa, so when I need to type, e.g. an e-mail, I can grab it, attach it and type. I know that there are some third party solutions for the Nexus 10, but they will never be so nicely integrated as the Prime. Also, I'm a bit worried by the lack of microSD slot. I know that 32 GB should be plenty for me, I don't keep tons of videos or music on the tablet. Some games can take a lot of space, but I never have more than two big games at the same time. I'd rather use microSD for backups, and I cannot do it in Nexus 10. Creating a 10+ GB backup in the cloud is not an option.
What are your impressions? Is anyone here who moved from Transformer (Prime) to Nexus 10? Is it worth it?

I think it's a big step and you won't regret purchasing the Nexus 10. Thi was my first tablet so I can't tell you if it's worth it coming rom the prime, but there are a few people who already commented on other threads, that the change is big and they like it. You might find those threads using the search button or just waiting for an answer Maybe something like Nexus 10 vs Transformer or similar will get you there.
You can always root the device and use an otg adapter to allow you to save to an external USB card.
If I were you I would look into custom roms for the Prime. Maybe some of them have lesser issues and better performance?
I say go for it its a great device I use mine every day probably 8 hrs or more don't use the phone anymore other than for phone calls
