If you want to activate on ATT just for broadband, it is possible (but requires specific APN settings)
Add both APNs but activate the ATT Broadband APN
Leave everything else untouched:
APN - AT&T activation
Name: AT&T activation
APN: lwaactivate
APN type: internet
APN - ATT Broadband
Name: ATT Broadband
APN: Broadband
APN type: internet + mms
Hopefully this Helps
Is this with any plan? Does it have to be with AT&T?

Tried both. Neither work for me.
Currently on grandfathered unlimited HSDBP plan.
So far as I can tell, with my plan, wap.cingular and Phone are the only APN's that work.
APNs are provisioned by your data plan types on your account. If you want to use Broadband APN, you'd better have AT&T broadband data plan on your account. The old 3G smartphone data plan only works for wap.cingular APN. You need 4G data plan for Phone APN (AT&T HSPA+) and LTE data plan for Ptr APN (LTE).
OP probably have a SIM card (and account) from an AT&T broadband device (USB stick or 3G tablet, laptop). That's why his phone will work on that APN.

HSDPB is the HSPA+ SOC code for unlimited (non-LTE). As mentioned above, Phone APN works for me, as too does wap.cingular.
HSDPPB is for HSPA+ smartphones, these instructions are for tablet/laptopCard plans with no voice
What are the correct APN settings for HSPA+ on T-Mobile pre-paid, the $30 unlimited data 100 min. plan? Will the defaults work fine when you select "reset to default" or will a manual APN need to be created?
Thanks!
Reset to Default should work.
I have it...
Mine works great on Plug and Play.. But here are the settings I have:
Name T-Mobile US
APN - epc.tmobile.com
MMSC - http://MMS.msg.eng.T-Mobile.com/MMS/wapenc <--- all lowercase
MCC - 310
MNC - 260
APN TYPE - default,supl,mms
protocol - IPv4

Thanks!
I currently have an AT&T SIM in the N4 with a custom "phone" APN. If I switch to a T-Mobile SIM and reset to defaults while the T-Mobile SIM is active, will that wipe the AT&T APN, or does the N4 remember the APNs per carrier?

As long as yoiu don't wipe you can have multiple APNs just switch them in the APN page. There should be a little dot next to it

So, I got my LGv20 through work as I do all my phones and usually just pop in my tmobile sim, mess with the APN and bam, 4GLTE and all is good. But, for the life of me I cannot get 4g or LTE on this damn phone. I know my APN settings are good as I have been using them on my note 7 and s7 edge and a slew of others but the lgv20, like the lgv10 before it, will NOT do lte let alone 4G. I know it can do it as occasionally i will se 4Glte in the display but it goes right back to "H" in a few seconds. Any help to maintain 4glte on this would be greatly appreciated.
What are your APN settings you are using?
I'm using this:
APN: fast.t-mobile.com
MMSC: http://mms.msg.eng.t-mobile.com/mms/wapenc
MCC:310
MNC:260
APN TYPE: default,supl,admin,dun.mms
APN Protocol:ipv4/ipv6
APN roaming protocol: ipv4/ipv6
All others at default or none
Ok this is what my V20 says - try matching it and see what happens
APN: same as yours
MMSC: same as yours
MCC: Same
MNC: Same
APN Type: default,supl,mms
APN Protocol: IPv6
APN roaming : IPv4
I also have another APN listed (don't think it's active)

Thanks, same results. I get LTE lit up for a minute then its back to H.
Under mobile networks you have mobile data on, data roaming on, network mode set to GSM/WCDMNA/LTE auto right?
Looking at the Verizon model, it does not support band 12 which could be why you see it for a second (if you have weak band 4 coverage).
Try this if you're willing to mess around with the modem/radio settings
Dial
*#546368#*995#
Go to field test option
Modem settings
LTE Band selection
Choose band 4
Then hit the home soft key and see if that fixes it. You can revert back to auto scanning by going back into that Modem settings menu and choosing Network Mode and setting it to AUTO.
IF you see a band 12, you can try that and see if you can force the phone onto it as well. Keep in mind, until you choose the AUTO network mode, the modem is locked to that LTE band I believe
Do this at your own risk - I use it to turn on/off lte bands personally and don't have issues but each person/phone is different
I tried this a while ago on both a VZW sim and a Tmo sim and it never works. With a tmo sim I get connection problem with MMI code and with a VZW sim it just calls VZW with an error.
That is really strange since the bands support is there and from my understanding VZW phones are all ulocked from the factory.
Have you tried calling Tmobile? Maybe its' the sim itself causing an issue or you're not provisioned properly in their system
Solved!!!!!!!! Use these settings:
Name: T-MOBILE
APN: fast.tmobile.com
Proxy: not required
Port: not required
Username: not required
Password: not required
Server: not required
MMSC: http://mms.msg.eng.t-mobile.com/mms/wapenc
MMS proxy: not required
MMS port: not required
MCC: 310
MNC: 260
Authentication type: not required
APN type: default,supl,mms
however, Under System Select (Change the network mode)
Under the Network mode choose LTE/CDMA and you will permanently have 4glte, I can't believe I discovered this, because I was having the EXACT same problem as you my friend......
Same
Yeah! But you cannot make calls!
I had the same issue when I was using the verizon variation of the V20. I would actually recommend just trying to find the H918 then you can even get the correct the antenna bands for LTE.
Otherwise I just used it with "H+"
Being told that my AT&T Network unlocked S7 edge won't work on T-Mobile for Data?
Does anyone know if this is true?
Is there anyway around this?
I tried there recommended APN settings and I can't get Data?
I'm on Android 7.0, Build Number NRD90M.G935AUCU4BQD4
See post #4 there is a fix!!!

Do you have a T-Mobile sim card? You can use AT&T unlocked phones on T-Mobile networks but not 100% usage. AT&T phones do not use 1700, or 12 LTE band.

Yes. Of course. Talk and text are working, just unable to get data.
I went to the T-mobile Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge forum, and Flashed T-Mobile Firmware, using a modified version of ODIN, and a PIT file.
My phone now boots up as a T-Mobile Phone, In Settings, About Device shows as SM-G9
All At&T bloatware is gone, and now have T-Mobile apps.
I even received a Software update push from T-Mobile, which downloaded and installed.
I never had to root. Android pay works, Data works.
Basically just converted a SM-G935A into a SM-G935T
Here's a link to the thread if anyone else needs to do this.
