Chrome doesn't work in most ICS ROMs because it requires HWA, which they don't have yet.
The new kernel 3.0 that's in development/testing does support HWA, but it's ridden with bugs, so it's not a very good idea to flash its ROM unless you really want to test it.
But ive gotten it to work on both cm9/7
Sent from my Kindle Fire using xda premium
If you gotten it to work on cm9 then please share how, because again with the lack of hwa in any of the 2.x.x kernels there is no way that you have gotten it to work. The only kernel that provides hwa at the moment is hashcodes 3.0 kernel which has been released for testing and development and is no where near complete. So with this said you may have gotten it to work on a cm7 rom but no way on a cm9 rom without a 3.0 kernel that is still in development.

Like the post above says, where's the screenshots because this is simply impossible without hardware acceleration!! Why do you think hashcode has been working on the 3.0 kernel in the first place? You might as well tell us that you have Netflix working too haha. Not trying to be a douche but I'm telling you it doesn't work with 2.x.x kernels. If you don't believe me go over to hashcodes new user thread in the general section and look at the original post. One of the very first things he instructs users to test to see if the new kernel has any changes is to download the chrome and see if it works.

That's not Chrome, its a browser called Miren (http://miren-browser.en.softonic.com/android), the icon is somewhat similar to chrome, but the similarities end there.
That is definitely not Google chrome.

To clarify: Chrome uses RenderScript extensively. And the 2.6.35 kernel's graphics libraries (from Gingerbread) don't support it very well. Hence Chrome is buggy for almost all Gingerbread kernel-based ICS builds.
The reason Chrome works in the new 3.0 kernel build is that the graphics libraries are brand new and support RenderScript perfectly. Hardware codecs are still not running correctly in the new kernel (among a pleathora of other things).
So the difference for Chrome is RenderScript support and not hardware codecs.
Here are some screenshots of Chrome
Thank you I think the one I downloaded got the image change because it said chrome and has the chrome image

So I'm seeing a bunch of apps that are not compatible with the the nexus 7... (TMZ, Newsday, Amazing Alex, Six Guns, HBO Go, etc.) I am rooted and have tried changing the dpi to 160 and full tablet model but the that doesn't do that Chavez these apps compatibility.
I saw this once in the past with the One X. Someone found a way to change the way the device identifies itself to the play store. Is this the same type of issue?
Anyone have a way around this? My last tablet was a Transformer prime and I would like to be able to run these apps on my N7 as well.

It's usually because the developer hasn't changed the market info to enable support for jelly bean.
if you have these apps on your phone or other tablet you can backup the apk and try to install it on the N7 and see what happens. Also good to report back to the developer through an email letting them know that the app does not show up, or it does not work.
TMZ works just fine but the HBO Go & Max Go apks still don't work even after a DPI change to 170 so the only other possible way is to edit the build.prop to trick both the market & app to think that it's a different device but I'm not that sure it will work because I think only one of the Go apps have been updated for tablets but I might be wrong on that I also tried to edit the apk directly to work on ICS months ago before they added support and I couldn't fix that so I'm not even going fool with it thus time if you need the apks PM me

It's the same thing that happened with honeycomb. lots of apps did not work at launch. gonna take a while for everything to be updated.
HBO Go JUST added tablet support like a month ago.
Right but the apps i mentioned all worked fine on my Transformer prime. So its not the app its something about the N7.

HBO Go explicitly supports only a handful of tablets and the Nexus 7 isn't one of them yet.
EDIT: Also this: "- Now supporting Android tablets running up to version 4.04 (Ice Cream Sandwich)"
Is there a way around this? I haven't rooted yet, but I will eventually. It's pretty annoying that a lot of apps that I have already searched for aren't there...
I need my HBO Go!

If an app is not supported it's for one of three reasons
1) the app developer has put a 'ceiling' on the app so it can only be downloaded by devices up to a certain version of android. Most likely 4.0.4 and they have not updated the play store information to allow for 4.1/4.1.1
2) the app developer only allows it for certain devices (HBO GO) and has to manually add support for the Nexus 7 either through more development in the app or simply enabling support for it in the Play Store.
3) The app does not work in jelly bean and there for the developer is not allowing anyone to download it and has done one of the above until they can enable support for it.
This happened with honeycomb (3.0) and ice cream sandwich. (4.0) and there is nothing to freak out about. Just email the dev and tell them that you can't download it on the nexus 7 with jelly bean.
Has anyone tried the Comcast Xfinity app? I cannot get it to work. It loads, you are able to choose video, but when it starts trying to play it says your video will play shortly with a spinning circle next to it and never goes any farther.
Same exact thing on HBO GO on Fios.

You can try to change the build.prop in you system folder to match another device. I did this on my older tablet and on my galaxy note to get more games to show.
U need root access to read and write system folder.
ro.product.model=A500
ro.product.brand=acer
ro.product.name=a500_ww_gen1
ro.product.device=picasso
ro.product.board=picasso
Edit these lines. Then reboot make sure u make a backup this may or may not work. Anytime I didn't work I just rebooted again and it went back. If Acer doesn't work you can try an Asus transformer build.prop. There is always gonna be an issue with comparability though. Your better off finding and side loading an apk for now to test rather then buy to find out it don't work.

Let's not make a noise
please check my question again . I read
I'm developer. My app is running on other JB devices ( galaxy nexus no issues what so ever)
I can manually install app on nexus 7 and it works perfect
I just not aware of any limitation could be that would block device. I tried already removing request for vibration permission but still play store doesn't allow app for nexus 7
it's something strange
I already opened ticket @Google for this

Dude. You are wrong. These are not the only reason apps don't show. Tell me why an app would appear and install and run just fine from the amazon app store but not show up at all in the play store?
Try the new Rovio game Amazing Alex. Doesn't show up in play store but comes up in the Amazon app store, installs fine and plays perfectly.
I have side loaded the newsday, ameritrade, tmz for tablets etc... And they all run perfectly.

I noticed this yesterday while recording few videos using the stock camera app. I have been testing using stock camera app on both the 4.0.3 and 4.0.4 based RELEASED ROMs and all seems to be affected.
I request members to check on their mobile by recording a quick video to see if anyone of us are NOT affected with this silly but IMPORTANT bug by Samsung. Suggests the level of testing they do before releasing these ROMs.
Also, when recording inverted with Samsung logo (earpiece) towards the right seems to fix this issue (as there is no change in channel mapping while changing orientation. However, playing back such files pose another serious bug that it only plays back fine on the phone screen and using MHL or a PC makes the video upside down despite the camera app supposedly fixing the orientation during recording.
My MHL connection is always fragile (though it worked fine for a day or so after swapping the mobo after a shocking hard brick). This also seems to be an issue with I9100 as I have tested it on 3 phones and all have the same issue.
To test this STEREO bug, you could record a quick video while snapping around the left and right microphones. They get reversed (swapped) during playback unless you record the video inverted.
It has been around........ since ics leak?

I only noticed this on released version as the leaked one never worked for me as I dint do a wipe before installing them. After a wipe, I could access the stock camera app and notice this issue since the official release. Could well possibly exist since the leaked versions.
Samsung just need to remap the LR channels so we get proper audio on the video as it doesn't make much sense just to get stereo audio unless the directional clues are accurate. Also, they need to dynamically change this mapping for inverted video recording while also figuring why those inverted videos really look inverted on other devices and MHL - HDMI.
I truly dove in to my bunker before i opened this topic. Thank you for the warning.

Buddy I request you to please try to understand the question before participating in a pool.
There was NO STEREO recording in GB ROMs, so please suggest how would you observe this issue? Stereo recording is enabled only in ICS ROMs and hence the issue popped up with it and hasn't been fixed even on the latest LPU 4.0.4 release.
The same appears (swapped stereo channels) on mine Galaxy S3 with official ICS 4.0.4. I am really pissed and waiting Samsung to correct this.
I noticed that since 4.0.3 (I called Samsung hotline: "issue will be solved in next update") and as I see, the 4.0.4 doesn't solve it. We have to wait for 4.1 Jelly Bean.

It is not a problem. Ice cream sandwich introduce the function but it was limited to web pages, and contacts. Jelly Bean expanded to include photos, so you will have to wait until you get jelly bean to do that.
Check out this Android Central video http://youtu.be/4D8UVZzwADo
Something that I thought you feel for me too is that you can actually being YouTube between 2 phones so if you are looking at a YouTube video and you have a friend you want to see the video you can beam the page directly to them using the YouTube app. You can also beam A person directly to an app in the market so if you have at that would you like to share with somebody simply open the app and tap the phones and will send them to the play store where they can download the app. This is on both ice cream sandwich and jelly beans for both but beam works better on jelly bean all around.

Hello, I wanted to ask a question about why a mic works on Gingerbread ROMs but not on ICS or JB. I've tested a lot of ROMs and I've managed to make the Mic work once only in GB. I don't know much about how this works but I think its a driver problem or something because I installed a the Stock GB Sound Recorder on a JB ROM but now it wouldn't work. Could someone help if there's a way to make the Mic work on JB or at least ICS. I really don't like GB and would like to use this ability on a actual good OS such as JB 4.2.

One issue I know of is that you need the exact version of Google Voice Search to use some voice based features. That being said, in ICS and JellyBean much has changed in terms of Voice Search so that could be an issue. I think its a kernel issue with 3.x kernels, but lets wait till hashcode tries a fix
