I enabled NFC and Android Beam on both our RAZR M's. Beams web pages fine so I know it's working. Doesn't seem to want to beam a photo from the gallery. Anyone else having problems? Phones vibrate when touched but I never get the push to beam dialogue like I do with web pages.

I have a same problem, until I upgrade to Jellybean and test it out. It work great to beam photo from my M to my wife's Gnex.

It is not a problem. Ice cream sandwich introduce the function but it was limited to web pages, and contacts. Jelly Bean expanded to include photos, so you will have to wait until you get jelly bean to do that.
Check out this Android Central video http://youtu.be/4D8UVZzwADo
Something that I thought you feel for me too is that you can actually being YouTube between 2 phones so if you are looking at a YouTube video and you have a friend you want to see the video you can beam the page directly to them using the YouTube app. You can also beam A person directly to an app in the market so if you have at that would you like to share with somebody simply open the app and tap the phones and will send them to the play store where they can download the app. This is on both ice cream sandwich and jelly beans for both but beam works better on jelly bean all around.

So I'm seeing a bunch of apps that are not compatible with the the nexus 7... (TMZ, Newsday, Amazing Alex, Six Guns, HBO Go, etc.) I am rooted and have tried changing the dpi to 160 and full tablet model but the that doesn't do that Chavez these apps compatibility.
I saw this once in the past with the One X. Someone found a way to change the way the device identifies itself to the play store. Is this the same type of issue?
Anyone have a way around this? My last tablet was a Transformer prime and I would like to be able to run these apps on my N7 as well.

It's usually because the developer hasn't changed the market info to enable support for jelly bean.
if you have these apps on your phone or other tablet you can backup the apk and try to install it on the N7 and see what happens. Also good to report back to the developer through an email letting them know that the app does not show up, or it does not work.
TMZ works just fine but the HBO Go & Max Go apks still don't work even after a DPI change to 170 so the only other possible way is to edit the build.prop to trick both the market & app to think that it's a different device but I'm not that sure it will work because I think only one of the Go apps have been updated for tablets but I might be wrong on that I also tried to edit the apk directly to work on ICS months ago before they added support and I couldn't fix that so I'm not even going fool with it thus time if you need the apks PM me

It's the same thing that happened with honeycomb. lots of apps did not work at launch. gonna take a while for everything to be updated.
HBO Go JUST added tablet support like a month ago.
Right but the apps i mentioned all worked fine on my Transformer prime. So its not the app its something about the N7.

HBO Go explicitly supports only a handful of tablets and the Nexus 7 isn't one of them yet.
EDIT: Also this: "- Now supporting Android tablets running up to version 4.04 (Ice Cream Sandwich)"
Is there a way around this? I haven't rooted yet, but I will eventually. It's pretty annoying that a lot of apps that I have already searched for aren't there...
I need my HBO Go!

If an app is not supported it's for one of three reasons
1) the app developer has put a 'ceiling' on the app so it can only be downloaded by devices up to a certain version of android. Most likely 4.0.4 and they have not updated the play store information to allow for 4.1/4.1.1
2) the app developer only allows it for certain devices (HBO GO) and has to manually add support for the Nexus 7 either through more development in the app or simply enabling support for it in the Play Store.
3) The app does not work in jelly bean and there for the developer is not allowing anyone to download it and has done one of the above until they can enable support for it.
This happened with honeycomb (3.0) and ice cream sandwich. (4.0) and there is nothing to freak out about. Just email the dev and tell them that you can't download it on the nexus 7 with jelly bean.
Has anyone tried the Comcast Xfinity app? I cannot get it to work. It loads, you are able to choose video, but when it starts trying to play it says your video will play shortly with a spinning circle next to it and never goes any farther.
Same exact thing on HBO GO on Fios.

I would not be 100% sure its an app issue. I have an app in appstore. No versions limitations and I can even see nexus 7 in list of supported devices. But still get incompatible message if I try install it. Totally puzzled

instagram was un compatible. but engadget say they release an update to support the n7 and it can use the front facing camera take photos.

You can try to change the build.prop in you system folder to match another device. I did this on my older tablet and on my galaxy note to get more games to show.
U need root access to read and write system folder.
ro.product.model=A500
ro.product.brand=acer
ro.product.name=a500_ww_gen1
ro.product.device=picasso
ro.product.board=picasso
Edit these lines. Then reboot make sure u make a backup this may or may not work. Anytime I didn't work I just rebooted again and it went back. If Acer doesn't work you can try an Asus transformer build.prop. There is always gonna be an issue with comparability though. Your better off finding and side loading an apk for now to test rather then buy to find out it don't work.

Let's not make a noise
please check my question again . I read
I'm developer. My app is running on other JB devices ( galaxy nexus no issues what so ever)
I can manually install app on nexus 7 and it works perfect
I just not aware of any limitation could be that would block device. I tried already removing request for vibration permission but still play store doesn't allow app for nexus 7
it's something strange
I already opened ticket @Google for this

Dude. You are wrong. These are not the only reason apps don't show. Tell me why an app would appear and install and run just fine from the amazon app store but not show up at all in the play store?
Try the new Rovio game Amazing Alex. Doesn't show up in play store but comes up in the Amazon app store, installs fine and plays perfectly.
I have side loaded the newsday, ameritrade, tmz for tablets etc... And they all run perfectly.

This might be a dumb question but I couldn't find a thread for it or in the tech specs anywhere. Does the Nexus have a external charging indicator?

Before I got my Nexus, I used my Droid X as my primary internet browsing device. Now, of course, I use my Nexus for that but I don't have an easy way of sending links or pictures to all my friends (preferably straight to their SMS inboxes). I'm using Google Voice for texting but you can't send pictures. Anyone have any good alternatives? It would be nice to have a hacked stock Messaging app that can utilize your Google Voice number or something but I'm not sure how feasible this is. Also if anyone could assist me in getting calls to work through the Voice app I'd appreciate that too
Check out Tablet Talk in play store. Don't know if u can send pictures though.

I kmow there was another update but, that aside i am sure that i should be getting more readout. Maybe i have to give it time to do its google thing but i am wondering i anyone knows a fix or a better version to flash. I am currently on the m7.

What kernel/Rom are you using? Im unfamiliar with "M7".
I had problems with this as well, what I did to increase the card count was to enable my GPS, and allow google to sync up my search history.
M7 as in the mikey 7 Google now zip that I used. Aside from the cards I also cannot play music by song name. Only band name. Not sure what that's about. I am on a stock deodexed Rom from romswell for the p3113

Have you seen this thread ?
I stopped by Verizon today to play with the RAZR M before I decide to buy it. Do the Android-Beam just similar to S-Beam on Galaxy Nexus and SIII? Will that work to transfer something between Motorola and Samsung phone?
Decided to wait until if it actually work, then that's something I can do a quick transfer with my wife's Nexus.

Not sure how the SBeam works, but I was able to transfer stuff via NFC between my Moto RAZR M and my Nexus 7.... maybe that helps answer your question?

Then they should be working the same with S-Beam and Android-Beam.

I'm fairly sure that S-Beam is the same thing as Android Beam, except Samsung just decided to change the name, for whatever retarded reason.

Well, S-Beam uses WiFi Direct and Android Beam actually uses Bluetooth to transfer files. S-Beam is slightly faster. I haven't gotten NFC to work from SIII to Galaxy Nexus. There are also incompatibilties with Android Beam transfering some things between versions 4.0 and 4.1. So on my Girlfriends Razr M and my Galaxy Nexus transfers of pictures don't work.
In the end if you really have problems there is an app on the market called "Blue NFC" that you can share files to that will make NFC transfers easy.
