[Q] Nexus 7C Hardware Buttons - Nexus 7 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Is the hardware buttons for the Nexus 7 ( power button + volume up and down button ) suppose to be a little bit loose? I've bought mine with 32GB 3G. The hardware buttons works perfectly fine but I can feel it moving a little when I do it up and down on the sides. Anyone has encounter this before? Thanks in advance.

Their just rubber caps over the actual buttons.

Yes I've noticed it too on several Samsung devices like the Galaxy S3... Thank you...

I think they make the a little loose so the buttons don't stick when pressed.

There should be 3 buttons to the bottom of the screen - the centre physical button used to wake the phone and as the 'home button' as well as the other 2 capacitive buttons either side used for back and menu.
The US variants I all have 4 capacitive buttons which I presume can't be used for waking the phone, I take it you have one of these - the Captivate, Vibrant or Fascinate?

Crixitron
Yes !
Exactly, and one two three for five six !
What is this I dont even
Holy crap, didn't even know that
Wow! You sure are l33t! Next you'll show us how to set a security pin for the lock screen, which is only a function for super hackers!
Then again, this button combination is not functional on my phone... Pegasus because Onecosmic ICS shows it when you long press the power button

If you really want a button combination, a simultaneous press of vol-down + power will immediately take a screenshot for you.
Telegram by phone
Or use a program from the market for this, but you probably need to root your phone which might be a bridge to far for most normal users
On ICS Roms screenshot is combination of Vol_Dwn+Power...!!!

Replacement Screen missing ribbon cable

WTF? I ordered a replacement screen off ebay, and it looks to be OEM, but it's missing a ribbon cable. Anyone know what this cable does and will the phone function normally if I use the replacement? I've hooked it up and the screen powers on, and appears to function normally, but I'm worried that something HAS to be missing because of the lack of connection. Here's the pic:

That is weird, It says Samsung so it must be OEM.
Is it not for the FFC or Proximity sensor ? thats the only thing in the top right corner i can imagine its for.
Unless its from a different variation of the Note, Like the US version or something, I know they differ in a few ways than ours.
Hmm when you purchased it did it mention model number or just galaxy note? Looks to me as a bad screen.

The model number mentioned was N7000 and i9220. It's not the USA version because the button layout is the same.
Have you tested auto brightness, screen response, multitouch recognition... Also, how much? Does this replacement exhibit the color rendering/black crush issue?

Nexus wont turn on when in a case lol

Is there something specific on the left side of the nexus 7? Whenever I stick it in a folio case it turns off and when I hit power and unlock, it will go straight to a black screen....I take it out of the case and its fine.
So confused.
Does the case have a magnet in it?

Yup that must be it. Its a m edge case I used on the kindle fire. What is the magnet interfering with?I have nfc off. Thanks for the quick reply, I appreciate it.

The magnet (a rare earth magnet) tells the device to turn off. It's a feature.
The magnet when close to the bottom left side turns the unit off.

Ah thanks bro, i was wondering what was causing it but didnt even think of the magnet. Guess I'm gonna have to put it in with the power buttons hidden and try to press them hard enough haha.

Google Edition Hardware Keys remap

Is it possible to remap the hardware buttons on the S4, preferably for the GPE.
I'd like to have the menu key work as the recents (multitasking) button.

Any news on this?
Jkay has some alternatives but it's only for stock TW firmware.
I would prefere a google edition rom on my phone since it's so much faster.
