[Q] Snapchat 2.0.0 - Nexus 7 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Alright with the new snapchat update, we are able to log-in. The only problem is that instead of automatically using the front camera, it tries to use the non-existent back camera, and there is no option to switch cameras. Any way to force it to use front camera?

Making some progress...
At least snapchat halfway works. I have contacted the snapchat support but they told me to reinstall the app. I will try to get another response today.

I really wish snap chat was working for the nexus 7 ( I really don't like using my p500 for snap chat) I will talk to the devs about it today, maybe even providing them with a log etc..

Well I tried, I guess what we have to do is just be patient and wait. I'd like to say that the support for snap chat emailed me back within 45 mins.

What I'm guessing is that since they are still introducing a lot of new features in snap chat, more device support will be coming (soon I bet) be patient, our device will get there eventually.

Actually today after viewing a snap i had gotten from my friend, i went to the camera to see if it would magically work and i saw the switch to front camera icon. I pressed it, then it crashed.

It Works!
Just sideloaded snapchat 2.1 and the camera works now!!!
Only problem that the picture is flipped the wrong way.

Lol i was just about to come here and say that!!! It's no big deal, we just have to take upside-down pictures!
Edit: Actually it looks like the app FC's when you want to send videos, but camera i good enough for me!

You can also just flip the nexus 7 upside down or sideways to take pictures.

Example photos?

Hi Guys,
Had my Desire HD for 5 days.. thinking of selling it and buying a Nexus S!
Just wanted to see some examples of photos taken with the Camera?
I've no need for amazing photo quality but still want something reasonable to justify the hassle in switching.
Thanks in advance
I took this picture in a completely dark room: Click to see how well it turned out
Also when you check out that picture, I have a picture of a fluffy green android I took, that was in a relatively dark room. (It's the one taken after December 16th)
Thanks for the reply... link doesn't seem to be working though?

Awesome thanks ... works now i'm at home so must have been my work PC playing up.
Looks good, pretty sure i'm going to swap
* UPDATE *
I'm now a proud owner of a Nexus S .
Went into my local Carphone Warehouse and from the minute i held it i knew i would buy it!
In my opinion it's positives over the Desire HD are:
- Speaker clarity and volume is 10x better
- Handset feels like a perfect size and weight (Desire HD was very big and heavy)
- The Super AMOLED screen is amazing!
- The camera takes photos and videos that i'm more than happy with
Good luck mate, its definitely a better phone than the hd, but the hd is a better spec

Thanks.
Yea i agree the HD is a great phone but for me just not practical.
I found typing on the HD a real pain and made endless mistakes. With the Nexus S it's easy
Welcome.
I also think my NExus S is beautiful.
You know, after spending the last few days wading through trolls who came to this forums just to trash a phone they don't own, don't have any intention of buying, and never even held, it sure is refreshing to see a post from someone who acknowledges the shortcomings of this device and yet, is still satsified with it because it is, in their opinion, right for them.
Thank you for this thread, OP. Let no one else but you decide what is right for you.

Post Pictures from your Xperia Play!

Hello Everyone,
I haven't seen anyone start a post for this yet so I thought I would get the ball rolling. The only edits that have been made to these photos is resizing and reorienting. I've also made some comments at the very end.

I know some of the critics knock the XPlay for not having the best camera, but I think hardware-wise it is pretty decent. The problem is the software that it comes with, which is the native android camera app. It kinda sucks!
* No touch to focus
* No metering options (which really blows....highlights and all)
* No focusing square to tell me what it's focusing on (it highlights the whole screen)
Thankfully since it's a software issue hopefully it will be remedied...either by Sony for the hacking community trying to port over the Xperia Arc/Neo Software.
Anyways, please post ur photos if you have a XPlay!
Here are some if mine

My son, Taken in darkness
Pictures of one of the "knights" at Camelot, my dog, and my daughter feeding the goats at Camelot. I'm fairly sure you can work out which is which!
I find the flash tends to wash out the pictures, but I believe this is true of all camera phones with LED flashes.
BLT hehe

Oh yeah, forgot to mention, I use the Vignette app rather than the stock camera. Lots if options available there.

Can you adjusting the metering with the vignette app?
Amongst the many other settings, yes.

Those look cool. Kind of look like toys.

Camera quality , Horrible

Why r my pictures always coming out grainy??
Is it me or is it just my phone ?
Every ROM I flash, the pictures r always GRAINY unless taken literally 2 inches away.
Example : pic taken with flash.
Suggestions ? Comments ?

1) Check that your back cover glass (the one that covers the camera) is REALLY clean from both sides.
2) Accept the fact that in low light the phone won't shoot good pics.

The only time it will take good pictures is when the flash is right now the object, or if there is 100% sun on the object. As u can see on my example, there was fairly enough light but still came out Grainy.

folks, this has also been answered a few times:
these "lines" are optical interference between the scanning frequency of the CCD and the frequency of some artificial light sources! other cam apps have the ability to enable a suppression for that (according to your grid frequency), the stock cam app of the note however does not have this function (or it has a very poor automatic for that)!
only chance: change the light-source or try to optimize your position!
OR: use a cam app which has a satisfying suppression function!
IF you have that lines also with no artificial light-source and in all cam apps then please take my apologies and replace your device!
Ahh.. I have the same thing on my work.. Guess the fluorescent lamps on the office interfere with my camera or something..
Nothing to worry about..

Just a teaser ;p

Just a teaser of what ill be releasing hopefully later tonight

A few more fixes I need to apply and I need to rebase to not todays CM9 cuz of the camera FC's and reboots and issues of todays build.

Yea its running really well actually except the issues present in today's CM9 release. Like I said I'm going to rebase it to the previous release but the good news is I might be able to pull the mms fix out of today's release *hopefully*
Sent from my PG86100 using Tapatalk 2
so rebasing went ok. Camera is still not being a happy camper tho, starts then shows preview for a sec and force closes. i can get it to take a picture with camera360 but theres green blur on the left side of the picture. ill keep at it but the camera is screwy in alot of miuiv4 ports, but like i said ill keep at it. taking a break from the camera for now and gunna finish the rest of the fixes. using the previous cm9 build hasnt had any negative effects as far as i can tell except for breaking battery stats. now to attempt to add more symbols, fix autobrightness, turn up the vibrate, fix graphic bugs, and fix mms..gogo all nighter
edit: just a thought, the camera might be the base i used (supersonic) ill give next weeks a try with a different base
edit2: kay fixing graphics issues just fixed camera oh hell yea!
Not what I usually run, but it looks good. Might have to give it a test drive.
I like the 1x and 3g bar setup, any way to make it into a flashable thing for gb?
