I had that today, it was interference from something in the hospital I was in, as soon as I went outside it was fine, i went back in, problem returned.

folks, this has also been answered a few times:
these "lines" are optical interference between the scanning frequency of the CCD and the frequency of some artificial light sources! other cam apps have the ability to enable a suppression for that (according to your grid frequency), the stock cam app of the note however does not have this function (or it has a very poor automatic for that)!
only chance: change the light-source or try to optimize your position!
OR: use a cam app which has a satisfying suppression function!
IF you have that lines also with no artificial light-source and in all cam apps then please take my apologies and replace your device!

Ahh.. I have the same thing on my work.. Guess the fluorescent lamps on the office interfere with my camera or something..
Nothing to worry about..

Post Pictures from your Xperia Play!

Hello Everyone,
I haven't seen anyone start a post for this yet so I thought I would get the ball rolling. The only edits that have been made to these photos is resizing and reorienting. I've also made some comments at the very end.

I know some of the critics knock the XPlay for not having the best camera, but I think hardware-wise it is pretty decent. The problem is the software that it comes with, which is the native android camera app. It kinda sucks!
* No touch to focus
* No metering options (which really blows....highlights and all)
* No focusing square to tell me what it's focusing on (it highlights the whole screen)
Thankfully since it's a software issue hopefully it will be remedied...either by Sony for the hacking community trying to port over the Xperia Arc/Neo Software.
Anyways, please post ur photos if you have a XPlay!
Here are some if mine

My son, Taken in darkness
Pictures of one of the "knights" at Camelot, my dog, and my daughter feeding the goats at Camelot. I'm fairly sure you can work out which is which!
I find the flash tends to wash out the pictures, but I believe this is true of all camera phones with LED flashes.
BLT hehe

Oh yeah, forgot to mention, I use the Vignette app rather than the stock camera. Lots if options available there.

Can you adjusting the metering with the vignette app?
Amongst the many other settings, yes.
Was bored waiting for some friends this afternoon, so I played around with tilt shift a little bit.

Those look cool. Kind of look like toys.

Camera quality , Horrible

Why r my pictures always coming out grainy??
Is it me or is it just my phone ?
Every ROM I flash, the pictures r always GRAINY unless taken literally 2 inches away.
Example : pic taken with flash.
Suggestions ? Comments ?

1) Check that your back cover glass (the one that covers the camera) is REALLY clean from both sides.
2) Accept the fact that in low light the phone won't shoot good pics.

The only time it will take good pictures is when the flash is right now the object, or if there is 100% sun on the object. As u can see on my example, there was fairly enough light but still came out Grainy.

I'm guessing he is talking about the s-pen test that is one of many options when that digit string is entered in the dialer. Zig zag attached.
I am talking about touch screen test not the spen one, sorry I didn't make it clear
If I'm thinking right, you're referencing to how our note's seem to have an issue with super fast swipes on the screen? I've noticed this issue when playing Fruit Ninja, especially with the final fruit in arcade mode which you can repeatedly slash to boost your score. On my Galaxy Nexus I can swipe back and forth all day really really fast with no issues. It seems to not fully detect on the Note and you'll get broken trails. When I used imilka's CM9 this problem seemed to be resolved or at least the touch response seemed much better over stock. Also when I used the CM9 build it seemed as if banding and the video pixelation/distortion issues where a lot less. The new official CM9 builds may be even better since they have their own kernel built for them
there ... no problem... and i also have no fruit ninja problem.... seems you may have a defective unit... i would have it checked out...
now could you please only post once about a problem and not open another thread with a different title but its about the same thing you asked in the other...http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1626810
you can edit posts and even the title if you are the creator... it helps not clog up the forum ... plus it helps keep some of the crankier members from totally ripping into you...

[Q] While fixing my screen I broke this, phone still working

So my phone's screen was not working. I bought a new screen and while installing it I accidentally broke the part highlighted below on my motherboard. Can anyone tell me what this part is.

I have reassembled it and it is working as expected, but I just wanted to check what I have damaged.
I think that's for the NFC? Don't quote me but I believe it would be so since the back over has the contacts. I could be wrong though

I don't think so. Take a look at this photo from iFixit's Nexus 4 teardown. From what I've understood, those four squared contacts in the middle on the left side are for NFC. Furthermore, looking at the other contacts in the back, I doubt the highlighted part is a contact.
NB: Red parts should be links, but I haven't reached my 10-post minimum yet. I'll fix it asap but for now just search 'iFixit Nexus 4 Teardown' on Google and scroll down to step 8, it's the first photo.
Sorry for quoting anyway buddy..

Misaligned Camera

Hi, the inside camera in my new S6 Edge+ from UAE (G928C) is misaligned Well it looks like it. I have attached a picture for your opinions. Is this a defect? So far after taking 3 or 4 pictures the quality is good as expected.

Yup. Same here.
Same here. Maybe its intentional? Either way my pics come out great so no worries....
we all have that. relax
The camera has hardware image stabilization in such the lens is supposed to be free moving. If you shake the phone you can hear it rattle. Start the camera app again and shake it, rattle is gone. This is due to a floating design that can move the lens to counter your movement so motion blur is reduced and is especially noticeable in lower light conditions when shutter speeds grow longer.

You are absolutely right. One can try shaking the camera in selfi posture and notice that camera hole alignment changes with phone positioning.
