I have had my Acer A500 for about two years and now it won't turn on.
I left it sitting on my kitchen table when I went away for a weekend; when i got back, I plugged it in and let it charge over night. The next morning I tried turning it on with no luck. :crying:
When I press the power button the white light will turn on, but nothing shows on the screen. Holding down the button turns the light back off. If i have it "on" and press the reset button the light will turn off for a second and then turn back on. The screen still stays blank.
I have been googling this for days, but only finding people saying it's in APX mode. But, how did it get that way? ADB doesn't see it. A500 manager doesn't see it. I have installed the drivers from ACER. When I plug my tablet in to my computer, the only thing it sees is the ACER picasso USB boot-recovery driver.
Anyone please? I really can't afford repairs or a new tablet. :fingers-crossed:

seems like you are not really getting into APX mode, try switching it off, and then try holding the power button AND reset at THE SAME TIME. This should make computer see an APX device pops in your PC... if not then, I'm not gonna say it dude.

seems like you are not really getting into APX mode, try switching it off, and then try holding the power button AND reset at THE SAME TIME. This should make computer see an APX device pops in your PC... if not then, I'm not gonna say it dude.

My phone is totaly dead I think, tried to flash another rom on it. Got an error, and everything did weird.
Resetted the phone, but nothing happens. Removed battery, sim-card.. tried to put it back on.. completely dead.
When turning on the phone nothing happens, not a single light burns or flashes, and nothing happens on the screen.
Did i totaly mess my phone up?
Allso when i plug my phone in my charger no light burns (normaly an orange light would burn)

After turning on try to do hardreset.

If I could turn on I would have tried that, but the device wont turn on.
Sometimes it seems that your device is turned off but actually it is turned on but can't boot, for exmaple after the flashing failure.
In this case try to enter bootloader mode. When my Herald was broken I was able to enter bootloader mode although my device also seemed to be turned off.
When your screen is black you don't know if you are "on" or "off" so please try to enter bootloader mode two times after switching your device on and before that.

So My friends mom gave me her streak that she has never even used.. so I was thrilled to have a new toy to play with However, I took it home and here is what is happening:
1. I plugged it into the wall charger, The screen comes on and shows a green battery symbol (leads me to beleive that the device is fully charged..)
2. I hold down the power button and the "buttons" on the right/bottom of the phone light up, but the screen remains black... It never seems to boot, or there lcd is off??
I have tried pulling the battery, and then starting over several times with no luck
If you have any suggestions, I would greatly appreciate it!! I wanna start tricking this thing out but I can't turn it on
**This Streak was given to her for doing some marathon or something, and I don't have anything from Dell so I don't think I can use any sort of warranty or anything (before people start suggesting that)

You might need to open it up and check if the cables are plugged in, looks like it its starting up, it should go something like, push on, turn the 3 leds on, wait 1 sec then the DELL logo should show up, then a second dell logo appears with some motion graphics on the back (like mistify screen saver on windows) then white dell logo and boom android OS.
P.S. did you try powering on holding vol+ and vol- or try to get to fastboot (turn on with power + camera button) and see if you get anything on the screen.

The only thing is that if it is off (or so I think) and I plug in the power adapter, i will get the battery icon that is green on the lcd.. this would lead me to believe that the screen is hooked up correctly.
I will try to boot into bootloader and see if that will work at all.. I will get back

I cannot even boot into bootloader.. it just jumps straight into the Dell logo where it just hangs forever.
I cannot power on holding both volume up, and volume down, or with holding camera button and pressing power.
If i power on normally, the device just hangs at the Dell Logo.
Please Help

I still am not able to get the device to boot that way. All I seem to be able to boot is when only using the power button, all three lights come on, the dell logo... and then it just sits.. FOREVER! I think I flashed an incorrect baseband for the beta chipset?? any ideas anyone on maybe doing anything from the command line?
I put my phone down one day and when I picked it back up the screen would not turn on. When I plug it in without touching any buttons, I get one red light flash and then nothing. I have tried the trick where you hold the volume button down and the power button and plug it in, and I do manage to get to the reset/start screen. From here though, my phone just turns itself off, or moves to the google screen but then turns itself off. I've also tried "pulling" the battery (which is apparently holding up instead of down on the volume), and this also does nothing. I have also tried different chargers and this is not working either. I have left it to charge for over 24 hours too and this does nothing.
I cannot find any answer to this whatsoever and I am at a loss at what to do about it.

I've managed to get it to stay on that screen and when i enter that option i get the fallen android and then it says "no command" underneath and turns itself off again??
hi. well, i expected this and im doomed.... i had my phone in the fastboot mode and i tried everything i could. i tried the solution and now what happened is the phone is dead.
what happens now is well nothing. it does not power on, it does not go to download mode, it does not go to recovery, it does not even go to the fastboot mode.
when i connect to pc, via usb cable, only thing that comes on my pc is multiple like 10 new drives and it asks me to format them before use. the screen turns on but only show black color. it does not even show LG logo. only black color. when i remove usb and press and hold power button phone turns off. its not even charging.
can any one tell me any solution to this?
See in general there is a thread. If you see multiple partitions then its still fixable. See the thread from no download mode etc as title

Make sure the phone is turned off. I had the same issue. Press power button for 15 seconds or so. Then press volume up,then connect to pc/laptop. It will enter dl mode.

Agreed - I've also experienced this. The phone doesn't power down if you're still connected via USB, so make sure you've unplugged it, and then ensure that you're powered down by holding the power button for a while. Then, while holding down VolUp, connect the USB cable. You may need to try this a few times.
I just flashed MOAR rom on my phone a few days ago and everything was working perfectly then while at work I pulled my phone out of my pocket and noticed my case had slipped off and was holding the power button down. After fixing the case I tried to unlock my phone and nothing came up on my screen. I held down the power button and the only thing that happened was my LED indicator is flashing green rapidly and at different brightness. Then I pulled the battery and left it out of my phone for 2 hours and still the only thing that is happening is the LED. When I plug it into my computer without me hitting the button the LED is flashing. It wont boot into recovery and I don't want to send it in and them find a custom rom on it so any help would be greatly appreciated.

I am assuming it won't go into download mode either? Try holding the power button in for at least 30-40 seconds.

No, I've tried holding just the power button for a minute or trying to go into either download or recovery mode and got nothing.

Try the same thing with the charger plugged in.
"Try holding down the power button for 1 minute with the charger connected. If this doesn't present the screen, try holding the power button AND both volume buttons at the same time. This should bring up a menu. There should be an option for reboot or force reboot"

Thanks for trying to help, I've tried holding both volume and power button for a minute and nothing. After having it plugged in for a few minutes my battery started to get warm.

Just something I found while looking for answers. At least your battery is getting warm. That is better than the alternative.

Are you using the original data cable? Try a different USB port maybe?
