So, as the title states, I am about to quit. I keep having problems with software and hardware alike. I'm like on my tenth NS... I think I would be leaving Android for a while too. If I returned it I would go with a BB 9780. I don't know, I would love your opinions though, because, surprisingly enough, this is a hard decision.
Thanks all.
I say sell it & get the Motorola Atrix when it comes out. It's a really powerful phone. However you might want to wait a few weeks after it's out & get as much feedback & info as possible. You never know.
Thank you, but I'm not interested in Motorola, plus, there will be phones with the same specs, if not better in the coming months. I'm just disappointed in the NS, and I want to stick with Google, they deliver the best Android experience. And I've always loved BB
Omfg a TENTH NS??! Sounds like the store got a bad batch try a different store.

There's three in my area. I finally bought one online (10th, got it today), and I'm just not happy at all. I was using an old BB 8900 and I loved it.

Another screen crease, volume buttons, random reboot, and a dead pixel.
You seem to be extremely unlucky..
i agree. You are definately very down in luck to have 10? bad NS.
I'm absolutely in love with my NS coming from the N1...

Yeah, I am... Ok. I made my mind up. I'm gonna return it. I just dont feel the magic anymore. And BB is really pulling me back.
I have a bunch of accessories including two extra batteries (1400mAh) w/charger (china), tech 21 case (from UK), samsung neoprene pouch (eBay). If anyone is interested, $65 shipped, tomorrow even if you wanted.

Yeah I agree too, but don't you see how I'm like ready to be done with this ****?! Like, no more NS at all. I'm done.
Easy, killer. If you don't want it, you don't want it. No biggie.
I went through 6 of these before I found a good one.
Now that I do have a good one everything is great. Dead pixel is a problem but the volume rocker seeming loose and the screen crease are not really defects I'd say. The majority have that. If the phone is rebooting on stock 2.3 then you def got a lemon.

So a "crackberry addict"* couldn't make the switch to android. That's not surprising, it's a big paradigm shift to make.
My iPhone loving friend tried a Vibrant with Froyo and hated it no end. He couldn't make the switch either.
If you went through 10 Nexus S, and they legitimately were defective, you've had the worst luck I've ever seen anyone have with phones.
Thanks for sharing.
*crackberry addict used strictly tongue in cheek and is in no way intended to be some kind of slur
maybe try a HTC device with Froyo 2.2
like the HTC Desire Z
it's an easier switch for BB addicts, it got a real keyboard, fast, and work properly right out of the box without any customization
i'll have picked one up for myself if it came with SAMOLED

Its funny. I had a Bold 9700 and decided to get a mytouch3g 3.5MM and after about a week, sold it and went back to my blackberry bold.. I started to get the itch about 3 months later to buy a Nexus One. Had it for about 1 month and said AGAIN, not for me, and sold it. Went back to a Bold 9700...
Now, I thought about the Nexus S and said hell, why not try it out.. SOLD THE BLACKBERRY after 1 week with the Nexus. I love the nexus s..
It took me a while, but I made the jump and i'm not going back.
Blackberry Pros : Battery life is amazing, Text, Email, BBM, Can drop it off a building and still works, solid phone. KEYBOARD IS AWESOME
Cons: App Store non-existent, almost no memory built into the phones, web is horrible !! Battery Pulls, Freezing ,should I continue ?
A good friend of mine just switched from a tour to an Evo and after a week went back to the Tour.. He is already telling me he misses the web and maps from the evo.
Long story Long : See you back here in a few months when you buy the Galaxy S 2 lol
So "quit" it and be done. Why do people feel the need to announce their every thought here?

Because I value you my fellow xda members' opinions. Is that wrong?
I've had every kind of phone, whether it be Android (HTC Magic, Nexus One, Nexus S, WP7 (HD7), iPhone (1, 2, 3, & 4) , BlackBerry (8310, 8900, 9000), Nokia (N96, N97). So, it's not like this was my first Android experience and the NS killed it for me, I'm an experienced Android user, but I will be back one day when something amazing comes out. And for now I'm choosing BB for a replacement. But, I'm not a crackberry addict, I was like two years ago with the Bold 9000, maybe I will be now, but that's beside the point.
I just thought that your guys' opinions mattered, so thanks to the nice people here, and I'll be seeing you guys around later on..

My replacement MT4G arrived two days ago and has the bad screen. Today the lower buttons stored working. They offered me a MT4G slide but I don't know if its better. Should I call them back and get it or take a chance with another replacement? They haven't adopted it yet. Don't know what to do. Thank you in advance.

Yes its way better , dual core more ram better camera its similar to an htc sensation but with out the qhd display, with better camera and keyboard.
The only con about it for me is that it doesn't have as many roms as the glacier but I'm sure that will pick up soon now that the source code was released

Get the Slide.
1. Higher re-sale value... Actually it's much higher.
2. Dual core
3. CM7 is now available for it

They tried to get me to switch to a Slide too when my most recent MT4G broke.
But I hate slidey keyboards. I mean I HATE them. Plus the slide is a thicker handset, which isn't as pocket friendly.
I told them I'd gladly switch to a sensation, but they weren't going for that. I don't get it. Both are HTC products. They sell them both for $200 with a new contract. What's the different to T Mobile?
I'm 100% certain that my next replacement MT4G will be borked somehow too because it's pretty obvious to me that the product line has dismal quality control. I think the only solution is to let them give me the 4G slide and give it to my wife who loves slidey keyboard phones and upgrade her line to the Sensation and take that one for myself.
(Why didn't I just buy the damned Sensation from the beginning?)
I'm okay with the thicker phone. I have some paralysis in my hand so I need the thicker phone. I do like the new camera and the high def camera.

For the longest time, I was annoyed with the trend of phones moving toward touchscreen interfaces because they lack tactile feedback—not only from the click of a key, but the feeling of the gaps between keys or indentations on keys to know which key you're pressing. I can't dial or scroll through my contacts without looking anymore and the vibration feedback won't tell me where my finger is on the screen. However, at least I have more precise voice command features, and Swype has quickly become my favorite input method for word composition.
I find slide keyboards to go to the other extreme in having to deal with the bulk and the complication of a moving part and trying to type on QWERTY keyboard with only your thumbs. It's not the same as having a full-sized computer keyboard, and I'm much faster with Swype than typing with my thumbs.
If billwinkle can choose between the MT4G and MT4GS for the same price, I say get the MT4GS and if he doesn't like it, sell it on eBay, play panel lottery on eBay for a good MT4G, and pocket the difference. That said, I think the decision has already been made.

The developing sections is deserted right now... maybe in a month we'll have a great assortment of roms...until then I don't think you should say that.
There may not be a plethora of ROMs for the MT4GS, but once you strip out all the bloatware, it is unstoppable! I have tried and tried again to take my phone to it's limit (ie: maxing out open browser windows, opening messages and emails, random apps, etc.) and have yet to experience my phone buckling under the stress I put it through. I actually run out of apps to open before my RAM is depleted. And once I'm finished, the *stock* Task Manager is excellent for clearing out the RAM being used. The dual core is definitely a step up. Everything responds much smoother. My gf has the Glacier and I have the Slide. I see the differences every day. She's about to return hers for warranty replacement and hopefully she gets offered the Slide. My $.02.

You may have to have 2 warranty replacements before they offer the slide. I have no idea. But it's pretty straight forward. They slide is considered a direct replacement for the Glacier.

Just like the title says, I'm looking for someone looking to trade a almost-two-month-old white At&t SGS3 for a NIB 16gb Nexus 4.
I realize that the N4 isn't out yet, but I wanted to get this out there already.
Serious offers only please.
Condition: Very good. I've had a screen protector on it since the day I bought it. The worse it gets is light scratching on the battery cover. (I'll try to post pictures later)
Included:
- White At&t Galaxy S3
- Micro USB cable
- Removable battery
- Original Box
- White/black UAG case
- 1 Screen protector (another one already installed)
My Very Important Caveat:
You (the buyer) send me the N4 first. Upon reception I will send the S3. (I've been screwed out of a device before).
(Order one on the Google Site and send it to me perhaps?)

There is a thread stickied to the top of the general section with instructions for returning to stock. Be sure to give the buyer a receipt with your name and signature on it so that they can get the phone and warranty put in their name.
OK, thanks for the info. I don't have the receipt. I bought it in a sealed box for $475 off craigslist. Oh well I guess it may just go in my drawer and a back up/toy
Its a great device I just cannot stand the email formats, I've tried k9 mail droid gmail native mail. None seem to fit the email to the screen well. That just a bit of a deal breaker.

I tried selling something on eBay for the first time recently. I even asked a friend with lots of selling experience for help. Still got boned. You may have better luck.
I'm amazed you would want to sell your Nexus 4. I used an iPhone 5 yesterday and I wasn't in the least bit impressed. Don't get me wrong. I'm not looking to turn this into a N4 vs. iPhone 5 war. But I guess that's the beauty of all these choices we have. I use what I like, and you use what you like.

The item was easily worth $250. I couldn't find an option to set a minimum selling price. It sold for $78. It sucked.
My friend was supposed to hop on and bid at the last minute to raise the price if no one bid higher, except he was off by 24 hours and the auction ended. Good times.
In all seriousness, ebay is set up to protect the buyer. A seller has to be very careful. All a buyer has to do is say they got an empty box or no package and PayPal refunds their money. EBay has it's uses, don't get me wrong. Just be careful. Check people's feedback and history. If something smells wrong, trust your gut.

Just ask questions. XDA isn't very newb friendly so ignore the assholes on here that will go off on you for asking any type of question. There is always someone willing to help though. People will yell all day about using search but that can be very overwhelming as well. If you searched pretty well and found nothing just ask, don't be afraid. I'm only saying this because I promise you in the end you will find your Nexus 4 and Android to be a far better option than iOS and the iPhone 5

Like using anything new it takes some time to get adjusted. When you're on the internet you have to have a thick skin so don't let anyone deter you.
Anyways try swappa.com
Well I bought a nano to micro sim adapter coming in the mail. Now I will be able to use both. When i get frustrated a can switch to the iphone until i figure out wth i did wrong on the nexus. That sorta defeats the thrill of getting a bargain on ebay for people...
Of course you can set a minimum bid. Karma sux mate.
Lucky your friend didn't win it. Then you have to pay the sales listing cost and still have to resell the item.
I've used ebay since 2006 and never once boned
Hope everything works out, This is one of the best phones I've ever gotten, the best being going from a dumbphone to the Droid, it got me into the whole root/ROM thing, which adds insane amounts of customization. It is a bit much, but once you make your phone yours, you wouldn't trade it for anything but another Nexus.

That may be the most honest thing I have ever read on here. Makes complete sense in regards to your likes. :good:
HTC just released a utility to allow you to pre-setup several personalization steps before you actually have the phone in your hands.
I can't post an external link (sorry, longtime lurker), but let me spell it out as https :// start . htcsense . com
I was able to select my desired configuration (HTC One Sprint) after selecting my language. Oddly I didn't see AT&T listed, but there was an unbranded HTC One selection that may be usable.
As I recall, you setup bookmarks, email, a few accounts, homescreen, lockscreen, and sounds/ringtones.
You do get a preview of everything you are about to set as well, so if someone is on the fence and just wants to play with the interface this is a way to do so. The entire customization set is stored with an HTC Sense account which you setup at the end or use your Facebook login to save.
I'm gonna try, seems cool

It's to do with being carrier branded and lock to them. Basically phones sold directly from carrier and not third party.

Just choose the standard One version, i just went through it and picked Orange one and it looked like it was exactly the same as the "open" version, it may be a poll type thing attached to the site so they can monitor which versions people are picking?
Never used this set up when it became available for the One X, can't see me using it for the One either, each to their own though.
It doesn't actually do anything to your phone unless you decide to log in to it when the phone first starts up, and i'm sure you will be able to set your phone up easier when it is in your hand and can do exactly what you want with it and not have to pick from the limited options that HTC give you.

Sent from my HTC One S
HTC Launch this during the One X+ release.. it was in the jelly bean leaks on the One X before the One X+ was released
Seems like AT&T won't allow this -_-
Here's the direct link for anyone that wants it, maybe it will work if the OP copy paste this one to his first post? I actually did the "getting started" a week and a half ago. Guess I should have made a thread for it, eh?
